Chapter 358: The Primordial Spirit Enveloped in Azure Qi
Chapter 358: Chapter 358: The Primordial Spirit Enveloped in Azure Qi
No sooner had Jisierk left than Li Haiqin arrived.
Their courtyards were right next to each other, after all. The moment Jisierk had entered Chu Fan’s private courtyard, Li Haiqin’s Maid had been watching the gate intently.
"What did Jisierk want with you?" Li Haiqin asked.
Chu Fan smiled. "You’ll never guess why he came here."
"Did he threaten you?"
Chu Fan shook his head.
"Then he came to show off?"
Chu Fan shook his head again.
Li Haiqin frowned. "Don’t tell me he came to win you over?"
No longer teasing her, Chu Fan said, "He came to give me a gift. He thanked me for saving his fiancée, gave me two Elixirs, and said he’s prepared a residence and several women for me in Hanhai City."
Hearing this, Li Haiqin stomped her foot. "What does you saving me have to do with him? Who asked him to play the good guy?"
In that girlish gesture, Chu Fan could actually see a hint of embarrassed anger.
It had been a while since he had used the Dao of Cause and Effect to look at another person’s Cause and Effect Lines. Chu Fan focused his gaze to probe hers. The young woman’s Cause and Effect Lines were incredibly complex, but two of them were especially prominent and deeply entangled.
One of them actually led to him, while the other was connected to Jisierk, who had just left.
Chu Fan was stunned. These were Cause and Effect Lines that signified a lifelong entanglement.
’Does that mean she, Jisierk, and I will be entangled for our entire lives?’
’Why?’
Chu Fan couldn’t make sense of it. He naturally couldn’t see through his own Cause and Effect Line, but he tried to examine the one that connected her to Jisierk.
What surprised Chu Fan even more was that he could see several images at various nodes along this Cause and Effect Line.
One image was their wedding ceremony. They looked blissful together, surrounded by a hall full of guests in a scene of joyous harmony.
Another showed them standing together on the back of a colossal beast, each holding a sharp Sword. Below them, armored soldiers on horseback filled the plains as far as the eye could see.
The final image was of the two of them fighting back-to-back, surrounded by a mountain of corpses in a sea of blood, facing innumerable foes.
It wasn’t the content of the images that shocked Chu Fan, but the fact that he had somehow gained the ability to see visions of the future by looking at the nodes on someone’s Cause and Effect Line.
Clearly, he had advanced further in his understanding of the Dao of Cause and Effect.
’But I haven’t meditated on the Dao of Cause and Effect in a long time. Why would I suddenly improve?’
’Could it have been that time on the Grassland? When I was piecing together my past, deducing my history from one clue to the next... was that also a form of comprehending Cause and Effect?’
Returning his focus to the images, Chu Fan wanted to look at the later nodes, but a sharp, stabbing pain in his head forced him to stop.
But those three images alone all pointed to one conclusion: Jisierk and Li Haiqin would eventually marry. Not only that, but they would live in harmony, support each other through thick and thin, and even fight side-by-side.
’Did Li Haiqin eventually resign herself to her fate?’
’Or did Jisierk manage to win her over?’
’Will this affect my plans?’
As Chu Fan was lost in thought, Li Haiqin’s voice broke his concentration.
"Huo Er, what are you thinking about? Did you hear what I just said?"
"Oh, it’s nothing. I was just thinking that perhaps Jisierk isn’t so bad after all. He might even be a good match for you."
Li Haiqin’s expression instantly soured. "Huo Er," she snapped, "whose side are you on, anyway?"
"I’m on your side, of course, Princess. Do you doubt my loyalty?"
"Forget it! I’m done with you. Just stay here and focus on your recovery!"
After Li Haiqin left, Chu Fan mulled over the Dao of Cause and Effect for a long time but came to no conclusions.
As for Li Haiqin and Jisierk’s marriage, Chu Fan decided to play it by ear for now. He still needed to get his hands on the Profound Iron Order; he would just have to find a different way to do it.
He sat cross-legged on the floor and took out the two Elixirs Jisierk had given him.
He was already familiar with the Blood Lotus Pill, having taken one before, so he swallowed it without hesitation.
Just like last time, once the Blood Lotus Pill was in his mouth, it dissolved into a ball of energy that spread through his limbs before seeping into his soul.
This time, however, refining the Elixir was much faster, taking only about fifteen minutes, and the boost to his Spiritual Power was minimal.
The last Blood Lotus Pill had increased his Spiritual Power by a full level, but this second one didn’t even raise it by a Tenth Level.
’So this type of Elixir is most effective the first time you take it. The effect diminishes with each subsequent dose. What a waste. If I’d known, I would have saved this Blood Lotus Pill for Yan Ying.’
’Time to try the Qi God Pill.’
The Qi God Pill, as its name suggested, was meant to nourish one’s qi and fortify the spirit.
Chu Fan swallowed it without a second thought.
The instant the Elixir entered his mouth, however, it transformed into a stream of qi that shot straight toward his Hundred Gatherings acupoint.
The Hundred Gatherings point was the seat of the Spirit Court, an acupoint on the Du Meridian, and the most critical junction of the Ren and Du Meridians.
The moment the qi surged into his Hundred Gatherings, Chu Fan’s first sensation was losing control of his body, even as he could clearly feel it convulsing.
Yet, his Spiritual Sense was several times sharper than normal.
His heart pounded. He quickly turned his senses inward with Introspection and saw that within his Spirit Court, his Primordial Spirit was enveloped by a mass of cyan-colored gas.
’Is this a poison that specifically targets the Primordial Spirit?’ he wondered, growing more anxious.
Thanks to his Innate Divine Body, almost no poison in the Mortal Realm could harm his physical form, but the same couldn’t be said for his Primordial Spirit and soul.
’So, Jisierk was actually trying to kill me? Was all that humility and gratitude just an act to make me lower my guard and willingly take this poison? Did he really go so far as to use a Fifth Transformation Blood Lotus Pill as bait to lure me into his trap?’
But that didn’t feel right. There was no deep-seated hatred between him and Jisierk.
Even if he had tried to stir up trouble between Jisierk and Moqish, there was no way anyone could have known.
After all, when he’d done it, everyone believed he was bedridden and severely injured from the Fire Rope Whip. Plus, he had altered his appearance and concealed his presence.
Therefore, Chu Fan concluded that neither Jisierk nor the Hanmo Clan would ever go to such lengths to deal with a mere "Guard."
’So, should I use my Spiritual Power to disperse this cyan gas?’
Before Chu Fan could make a decision, he suddenly felt his Spiritual Power and Sixth Sense rapidly ascending. Within his Spirit Court, his Primordial Spirit sat cross-legged in the void, waving its arms. Wisps of the cyan gas were being drawn in and absorbed through its nostrils.
A faint, cyan-colored sheen began to form on the surface of his Primordial Spirit.
This cyan sheen on its surface was just like the Protective Gang Qi that surrounded a physical body.
Chu Fan was at a loss. It was only a Fourth Transformation Elixir; he never imagined it would have such a miraculous effect.
Although Chu Fan had no prior experience with this, after a moment of careful thought, he understood the purpose of the cyan sheen.
His Primordial Spirit now had an extra layer of defense. This would undoubtedly give him another layer of protection in future battles...
