Chapter 361: Chapter 361: The Passionate Are Always Hurt by the Heartless

Chu Fan’s words made Fanquisi blush. Chu Fan asked again, "Did Dai Yelin herself consent to this marriage?"

"What difference does it make? The First Young Master has already given his approval. Do you think you have the power to change anything?" Fanquisi said.

Chu Fan didn’t know how the real Huo Er would have reacted to this news; after all, he knew nothing about the man’s personality.

He wasn’t even sure just how much affection Huo Er had for his junior sister.

However, since the First Young Master and Li Dang were using this matter to set a trap for him, it meant that according to their investigation, his junior sister must be very important to Huo Er.

"So, you’ve come to tell me to attend Dai Yelin’s wedding?" Chu Fan asked coolly.

Fanquisi nodded. "As her senior brother, of course you must attend her wedding."

"Then, what about Li Dang and I... never mind, it doesn’t matter. When is the wedding?"

Chu Fan had wanted to ask if Fanquisi knew about the animosity between him and Li Dang, but he realized asking such a question would be meaningless. Fanquisi was Li Haiqin’s Guard. The conflict between the First Young Master and the Third Young Master might be unknown to the common people, but it was impossible for a Divine Separation Realm Cultivator like Fanquisi not to know.

The fact that he had come today specifically to inform him of this matter already said it all.

In fact, Chu Fan could already guess the general outline of Li Dang’s plan.

If Huo Er’s feelings for Dai Yelin were deep, he would either cause a scene at the wedding, turn against Fanquisi, or sink into despair.

If he caused a scene at the wedding, Li Dang and his men could seize the opportunity to deal with Huo Er.

If he turned against Fanquisi, they could use his disrespect for his master to slander him and proceed to the next step of their plan.

If Huo Er sank into despair over this, perhaps even taking to drink and causing trouble, they would have even more opportunities to get rid of him.

But they never would have guessed that the Huo Er of today was no longer the Huo Er of the past.

"The eighth," Fanquisi said.

"So soon?" Chu Fan let out a dry laugh.

’Today is the fifth. The eighth is only three days from now?’

On the twenty-eighth of this month, Li Haiqin was to depart from the Moon Sea for her marriage in the Vast Sea.

That meant he had twenty days left in Moon City, which just went to show how determined Li Dang and his people were to deal with him.

The root of the matter was that Chu Fan had been staying in the Third Young Master’s courtyard all this time without going out, so Li Dang hadn’t had a chance to make a move on him.

Their main objective was still to lure Chu Fan out. Only when he was outside would they have an opportunity to strike.

"I want to see Dai Yelin," Chu Fan said.

He hadn’t wanted to get involved, but on second thought, he decided to play along with their plan and see what tricks they had up their sleeves.

During his time in Moon City, he had been stuck in the Third Young Master’s courtyard. Besides searching at night for places where the Profound Iron Order might be hidden, he hadn’t gone out at all, and it was getting quite boring.

"Come back tomorrow," Fanquisi said.

"We don’t have to wait. I’ll go back with you now," Chu Fan said.

’Tomorrow? I don’t know the way. How am I supposed to know where Fanquisi and the others live?’

Fanquisi looked at Chu Fan, considered for a moment, then stood up. "Let’s go."

In truth, Huo Er seemed very strange to Fanquisi today. This was his disciple of over twenty years; they had spent seventeen or eighteen of those years together day and night. Who could understand this disciple’s character better than Fanquisi himself?

Yet today, he couldn’t seem to read this disciple at all.

"I’ve taught many disciples over the years," Fanquisi said suddenly as they walked. "You were always the one who gave me the least trouble."

Chu Fan was a little surprised. He asked, "Then do you know about the bad blood between me and Li Dang?"

"He is the master, you are the servant," Fanquisi said.

"And if he wants to kill me?" Chu Fan asked.

Fanquisi stopped in his tracks. He thought for a moment before saying, "If that’s really the case, it must mean you made a mistake. With your current Cultivation, while you may not be a top-tier Guard in the Lindi Clan, as long as your mistake isn’t too great and you apologize and beg for his forgiveness, I don’t believe he would go so far as to kill you."

"Heh." Chu Fan just laughed and shook his head.

’This Huo Er really lived a pathetic life,’ he thought. ’Even his own master wasn’t on his side.’

’Although my past life was also a failure, at least my own master and senior brothers had treated me as one of their own, even willing to sacrifice their lives for me.’

"Did you really anger Prince Li Dang?" Fanquisi asked.

"It’s not important anymore," Chu Fan said.

The Kovot Family was located across Moon Lake. After leaving Moon City, Fanquisi grabbed Chu Fan by the shoulder and flew into the air, carrying him along.

A little over fifteen minutes later, they landed in the middle of a herd of cattle and sheep.

A woman in her twenties with a thick braid sat atop a bay horse, tending to the livestock.

In the Northern Domain, the woman would be considered quite beautiful, but in the Central or Eastern Domains, she would be rated as above average at best.

"Dai Yelin, Huo Er is here to see you!" Fanquisi called out to the woman.

The woman turned her head and looked at Chu Fan, her gaze chilling, before turning away again.

"Master, I’m going to talk with my junior sister."

"Go ahead. But she is Young Master Yi Qing’s fiancée now. Be careful not to get Dai Yelin into trouble," Fanquisi cautioned.

Chu Fan nodded and walked toward Dai Yelin.

"Dai Yelin!" Chu Fan called.

"What are you doing here?" Dai Yelin didn’t look at him, her tone harsh.

"If you don’t want to marry Yi Qing, just tell me. No one can force you to do something you don’t want to do," Chu Fan said.

"And why wouldn’t I want to?"

"In that case, I wish you happiness." Chu Fan turned to leave as soon as he finished speaking.

He hadn’t taken more than a few steps before Dai Yelin shouted from behind, "Stop right there!"

Chu Fan halted. Dai Yelin flicked the reins, and her horse quickly caught up.

"Huo Er, you’re a coward! I, Dai Yelin, despise you."

"The Huo Er of the past is dead. The Huo Er of today lives only for the Martial Dao. I won’t make any promises to anyone, nor do I dare to. I cannot give you a future, but if this is something you do not want, no one can force you. Not even Master."

Chu Fan said.

’What the hell did Huo Er’s affairs have to do with him, anyway?’

If Dai Yelin had been just like Fanquisi, Chu Fan would have turned around and left without a second thought. But he could see the deep affection for Huo Er in her eyes.

And the one thing that could move Chu Fan was sincere affection.

So, even though Chu Fan didn’t want to get involved, he couldn’t just stand by and watch this pure affection be sacrificed for the sake of a conspiracy, even if the real Huo Er was already dead.

He didn’t want Dai Yelin to be married into a conspiracy.

Of course, he would only give her this one chance.

"Fine. Then take me away from here. Take me away from the Moon Sea. I don’t care where we go."

Chu Fan shook his head.

"In twenty days, I will be accompanying the Little Princess Li Haiqin to the Vast Sea. I may never come back. You should forget about me."

"Huo Er, you’re so cruel."

"I, Huo Er, swear an oath to the White Wolf King: I will never marry anyone in this life." After he spoke, he added silently in his heart, ’Because the real Huo Er is already dead.’

With that, he left without another word. Once clear of the herd, he leaped into the air and flew off.

He ignored Dai Yelin’s anguished cries behind him.

An idea had already formed in Chu Fan’s mind. ’Since Li Dang and his group want to plot against me, why shouldn’t I start the game a little early?’

That night, he used the Inner Binding Seal Divine Technique to conceal his presence and paid a visit to the courtyard where Yi Qing resided...
