Chapter 99: Chapter 99: Indignant Raid Seizes the Immortal Gate

It was a restless night for the county town.

Screams echoed throughout the night as countless townsfolk bolted their doors, hiding and trembling in corners.

For the Cultivators who had come to this county town, it was the end of days.

That night, Chu Fan and Yun Xi traversed every residential quarter of the entire town. Their targets ranged from the lowest Foundation Establishment Realm to the highest Nascent Soul Realm Tier Six. By the end of the night, they had killed a total of one hundred and twenty-nine people.

They then hung the heads of their victims on all four of the town’s gate towers.

After the killings, they paid no mind to the reactions of the townsfolk who had been living in misery. They simply took the crippled Shan Jiangming and headed for the Immortal Gate.

They arrived at the Immortal Gate at dawn. The sect’s warning bells jolted the Immortal Gate’s Sect Leader from his sleep.

The disciples all gathered in the plaza before the main hall as if facing a great enemy.

Gazing at the nearly one thousand Immortal Gate disciples before him, all on high alert, Chu Fan remained expressionless. With a light push of his feet, he soared into the air, holding Shan Jiangming. He then hurled the man toward the top of the central flagpole.

He retrieved the worst Long Sword from his Storage Ring and, with a casual toss, sent it flying. The sword pierced through Shan Jiangming’s shoulder blades, pinning him to the top of the flagpole.

The members of the Immortal Gate below watched this unfold, yet none of them even thought to stop him.

Only Shan Jiangming, nailed to the pole, let out a pig-like squeal of agony from the intense pain.

"Who are you?" The Sect Leader of the Immortal Gate, who had arrived late, was furious when he saw Shan Jiangming on the flagpole, but he did not act rashly.

"Are you aware of what Shan Jiangming has done in Yingchuan County?" Chu Fan asked, staring into the eyes of the Immortal Gate’s Sect Leader.

"I know a little. Who exactly are you? How has our Immortal Gate offended you, sir?"

"No, you haven’t offended me. It’s just that creatures like you, worse than beasts, shouldn’t be allowed to exist in this world. Since you know what he did, it means we didn’t come here by mistake today."

At this, Chu Fan glanced at Yun Xi and said softly, "Let’s kill them. For the suffering common folk, and even more so for the pregnant woman they tormented to death and the unborn child who never saw this world."

He summoned the Juntian Sword, but before making a move, he said to Yun Xi, "Protect yourself."

At that moment, the Immortal Gate Sect Leader finally spoke up. Chu Fan had just denigrated their entire sect. Even though he knew these two came with ill intentions, how could he not try to save face in front of all his disciples?

"Insolence! Out of respect for you as fellow Cultivators, I was willing to let this slide if it was just some misunderstanding, even if the Immortal Gate had to be the bigger party. But you are this arrogant! No matter who you are, if you don’t give my Immortal Gate an explanation, then..."

Before he could finish, Chu Fan cut him off. "Don’t you know that villains always die from talking too much? Cut the crap. We came here to slaughter you creatures who are worse than beasts. So either you have the ability to kill us, or you all die!"

The moment he finished speaking, Chu Fan attacked.

Second stance of the Python Shadow Four Swords. With a flick of his Long Sword, the shadow of a giant python, like a soaring dragon, crashed into the crowd of Immortal Gate disciples.

When had these disciples ever witnessed such a technique? In their shock, the python’s shadow sent them flying, creating chaos.

"You’re courting death!" The Immortal Gate’s Sect Leader, Diao Yinqi, and several Elders attacked in unison, all charging at Chu Fan.

Diao Yinqi pressed a mechanism on his Binding Belt, and a Soft Sword appeared in his hand. As he leaped, a beam of Sword Qi shot toward Chu Fan like a rainbow piercing the sun.

Now that Chu Fan had reached Nascent Soul Realm Tier One in his Cultivation, the Python Shadow Four Swords he wielded was far beyond what he could do in the Lotus-Birth Realm or Pill Formation Realm.

Seeing Diao Yinqi and the five Elders attacking him together, he shot upward, and with a flick of his wrist, the python shadow opened its massive jaws and lunged at them.

By now, Yun Xi had already charged into the crowd. With her Golden Core Realm Cultivation, she was like a tiger among sheep against the ordinary disciples of a sect that couldn’t even be considered second-tier.

Yun Xi had come filled with hatred. Recalling the pregnant woman who had been humiliated and killed—two lives lost in one body—Yun Xi’s killing intent was even more intense than Chu Fan’s.

Lingyun Jinghong Sword. Every strike of her sword was a kill. For a time, the plaza echoed with unending wails of death.

Watching their disciples being slaughtered below, Diao Yinqi and the five Elders wanted to send two of their number to stop Yun Xi, but under Chu Fan’s sword, they had no opportunity to disengage.

After all, Chu Fan’s sword was simply too fast.

Of the six people before him, Diao Yinqi was a Nascent Soul Realm Tier Eight, two others were Nascent Soul Realm Tier Four, one was Tier Two, and the remaining two were at the Golden Core Realm Late Stage.

Against Chu Fan, who switched freely between the Dream-Breaking Meteor Sword and the Python Shadow Four Swords, they could only give their all to defend themselves. The slightest mistake would result in being wounded by his Sword Qi.

In truth, Chu Fan had considered coming alone to test his Divine Technique, the Inner Lion Seal. However, Yun Xi was overcome with frustration and grief after hearing about the tragic fate of the women in Yingchuan County Town. He feared that if she didn’t get a chance to vent her rage, it might affect her Dao Heart.

That was why he had brought Yun Xi along.

To be honest, Chu Fan himself also needed a thorough, cathartic slaughter to quell the turmoil in his own heart.

It had to be said that Diao Yinqi, as the Sect Leader of a sect with nearly a thousand disciples, did have some skill. His Soft Sword was as agile as a mystical serpent, at times fierce and at others supple.

Although his Sword Technique was only Earth Level Middle Class, in his hands, it displayed the ferocity of an Earth Level Top Class technique.

With a brief assessment, Chu Fan determined that this man’s Sword Dao had also entered the Second Layer, the Sword Gang Like Wind Realm.

On the flagpole, Shan Jiangming watched his sect become a river of blood. He had long since stopped screaming, his eyes wide with disbelief at the scene before him.

He never imagined that his own actions would plunge his sect into such a dire situation.

’There are actually people like this in the world,’ he thought. ’It had nothing to do with them, yet they’re slaughtering an entire sect out of pity for some ants.’

He couldn’t understand what these two stood to gain from all this.

Did he feel remorse?

Not at all. Shan Jiangming simply chalked it up to bad luck for himself and the Immortal Gate—a calamity they were fated to endure. 𝒻𝑟ℯℯ

However, he didn’t believe the Immortal Gate’s legacy would be extinguished today, because the Sect Leader had not yet used his true trump card.

He eagerly hoped the Sect Leader and the Elders could kill those two and avenge him.

Chu Fan was unaware of Shan Jiangming’s thoughts. While he was venting his fury, was he not also forging himself?

For a Cultivator, battle was the one and only fastest way to improve.

Strumming Sword and Singing, Riding Horses and Testing Swords.

Like everyone else seeing this Sword Technique for the first time, Diao Yinqi and his men were confused. Why would this Martial Artist, who clearly possessed such powerful and fierce Sword Techniques, use one that seemed to lack both Sword Qi and Sword Gang?

Nevertheless, they became much more cautious. Seeing Chu Fan, still some distance away, continuously swinging his sword, they retreated and brandished their own weapons in defense.

However, when performed by a Nascent Soul Realm Chu Fan, the Yifeng Sword Technique was all the more unfathomable and unpredictable.

The few Nascent Soul Realm experts were unharmed, but the two Golden Core Realm cultivators were struck by the Sword Qi and instantly lost their ability to fight.

"Wandering Veil Lamp and Boxed Sword!"

Having gained the upper hand with one sword strike, Chu Fan immediately followed up with a second to press his advantage.

Unexpectedly, at that very moment, the sky and earth changed color. Dark clouds instantly gathered overhead. A glance showed Diao Yinqi holding his Soft Sword aloft, chanting something under his breath.

Because of his powerful Spiritual Power, Chu Fan could see countless wisps of faint, smoke-like blue energy drifting toward Diao Yinqi’s body from all directions...
