Chapter 114: Chapter 114: Demon Beasts Descend the Mountain

"I’ll shoot that rabbit’s left ear!"

"I’ll shoot that deer’s right butt cheek!"

Su Wan looked somewhat smug. They had agreed not to kill, but no one said they couldn’t injure the animals. If an arrow was fired without drawing blood, wouldn’t this hunt be entirely pointless? After all, they had gone through so much trouble to find this prey.

Lin Siyao sighed helplessly. Still, the competition had to continue. If she didn’t compete, those animals would surely die. It wasn’t about being a saint, but simply showing basic compassion. However, everything had to come to an end eventually.

"Alright, I’m getting a little tired," Lin Siyao said, putting away her bow. She had already drawn it over a dozen times, and there weren’t many arrows left in her quiver. Besides, the outcome was already pretty clear.

Su Wan’s expression darkened. She had actually lost. Although it seemed like a tie on the surface, Lin Siyao was using a light bow. Whether in terms of accuracy or range, it was far inferior to the heavy five-ton bow in Su Wan’s hands. As a result, anyone with a brain could see that Lin Siyao’s archery skills were superior.

"Isn’t she supposed to be physically frail and completely out of practice?" Su Wan thought in frustration.

"I can also shoot three arrows at once!" Su Wan announced, desperately trying to save face.

SWISH! SWISH! SWISH!

THUD! THUD! THUD!

Three arrows shot out simultaneously, landing in a perfect horizontal line on a large tree a hundred paces away.

"Good!" Lin Siyao clapped her hands.

"Good!" Lu Yuan followed suit, applauding.

Su Wan instantly felt even more awkward.

"Alright, alright, you two—" Lu Yuan suddenly paused and perked up his ears. "Did you guys hear that?"

"Hear what?" Lin Siyao and Su Wan asked in unison, both turning to look at him. They hadn’t heard anything unusual.

Just then, Lin Siyao heard Ink Jade’s warning in her mind: "There’s a Demon Beast!"

"There’s a Demon Beast!" Lu Yuan said at the exact same moment, his gaze fixed in a specific direction.

Lin Siyao immediately followed his line of sight.

"A Demon Beast? How is that possible?" Su Wan turned to look at her guard.

"Miss, I—" The guard was about to deny it when his expression suddenly changed. "It seems there really is a situation over on your cousin’s side..."

"Quick, let’s go check it out!" Su Wan immediately ordered, leading her team over to provide support.

"Let’s go get Aman back!" Lin Siyao said to Lu Yuan as the two of them hurried off to find Lin Siheng.

The little guy had already climbed back onto his pig and was rampaging through the mountain forest.

"Giddy up! Giddy up!" he yelled. "This is awesome! Hahaha! Little Black, you’re going to be my mount from now on! Charge! Chaaarge!"

Lin Siheng was riding a massive boar, wildly waving a tree branch in his hand. Trailing behind him were five sows and dozens of piglets, making the whole scene look like a bizarre military charge.

"Aman, stop!" Lu Yuan shouted. "A Demon Beast has come down the mountain!"

"What?" Lin Siheng’s face paled. He hastily steered the wild boar to a halt and scanned his surroundings warily. He knew how terrifying Demon Beasts could be and certainly didn’t want to get snatched up by one.

"Hurry up and get over here!" Lin Siyao urged. Demon Beasts were incredibly dangerous—completely on a different level from ordinary wild animals. Fortunately, she had Ink Jade.

"But Brother Yuan doesn’t know about Ink Jade’s true strength yet," she thought. "If it shows itself later, I wonder if he’ll be scared?"

"Coming!" Lin Siheng quickly rode the massive boar over to them.

"Are we going to go take a look?" Lin Siyao asked, turning to Lu Yuan.

"We definitely have to check it out," Lu Yuan nodded. The Mu Family was under attack; it would be unreasonable for them not to go. "However, you must not intervene. No matter what happens, do not make a move. The foundations of the Marquis Mansion and the Grand General’s Mansion are far beyond your imagination."

"Mm." Lin Siyao nodded. She understood and was willing to listen to Brother Yuan.

"But why is Brother Yuan insisting that I shouldn’t intervene? Does he know something?" she wondered. "Or is he just worried about me overexerting myself?"

"Let’s go," Lu Yuan said, leading the siblings toward the site of the battle. He had already fastened the Wind Thunder Saber to his waist and held the Ten-Ton Bow in his hand. The situation was unclear, so it was best to be careful. However, as long as it wasn’t a Demon Beast above the Sixth Grade, injuring them wouldn’t be easy. Lu Yuan was confident he could protect the siblings.

"Set up the formation! Set up the formation!"

"Surround it! Encircle it!"

"You guys over there, block that gap!"

From a distance, they could hear Mu Lingyan shouting commands. Her voice was steady and measured, entirely unfazed by the danger. And indeed, there was no need to panic.

Mu Lingyan herself was a Seventh Grade martial artist, with combat prowess that placed her at least in the upper-middle tier. Mu Lingche’s guards were highly likely at the peak of the Seventh Grade, and Su Wan’s guards were as well. Combined with the other guards, personnel, Profound Weapons, and Array Artifacts... they formed a terrifyingly powerful force. And that wasn’t even counting any other defensive trump cards they might have hidden away.

Even if a Sixth Grade Demon Beast showed up, it likely wouldn’t be able to harm the Mu Family siblings in the slightest. The guards, of course, were a different story.

Seeing that the situation over there was stabilized, Lu Yuan and Lin Siyao didn’t move any closer. They kept their distance, observing from about two or three hundred meters away.

"What kind of Demon Beast is it? I want to go see!" Lin Siheng stood on the back of the wild boar, craning his neck as far as it would go.

"See what? Do you want to go offer yourself as a snack?" Lin Siyao scolded coldly. He really didn’t know the immensity of heaven and earth, daring to be curious about a Demon Beast. He had clearly been sheltered far too well. If she wasn’t so disgusted by the filthy stench on him, she would have flicked him hard on the forehead by now.

"Don’t you see that the horses and the boar are so terrified they don’t even dare to move?" Lu Yuan pointed out.

"Oh, you’re right." Only then did Lin Siheng realize that the massive boar beneath his feet was trembling. The two horses were in an even worse state, their bodies shaking like leaves in the wind.

"If you want to watch, climb a tree," Lu Yuan suggested.

"Climb a tree! Good idea!" Lin Siheng’s eyes immediately lit up, but then he hesitated. "But what about my Big Black?"

"Hurry up and let it go. It reeks!" Lu Yuan said with a look of utter disgust. The stench radiating from the boar was truly overwhelming. It was a good thing they were upwind and at least seven or eight meters away, otherwise he definitely wouldn’t have been able to resist taking action against the beast.

"My Big Black doesn’t reek!" Lin Siheng retorted affectionately. He hugged the massive boar’s neck and gave it a few gentle pats before finally hopping off its back. Waving his hand, he said, "Big Black, hurry up and take your family away, or you guys are going to get eaten by the Demon Beast."

WHOOSH!

In an instant, Big Black bolted, taking its entire family along with it.

"What a heartless rascal! Next time I come here, I’m catching you again!" Lin Siheng shook his fist indignantly before quickly picking a large tree and scrambling up. In just a few swift movements, he reached a height of twenty or thirty feet. "Wow, there are two Demon Beasts! With three tails! This is amazing! So intense!"

"Later, let’s just kick him into the river to soak for half an hour," Lu Yuan proposed. "Then tonight, we’ll have Auntie serve him up a fresh beating with a rattan cane."

"Mm," Lin Siyao nodded in complete agreement. "Either way, I am absolutely not letting him sit in my carriage again!"

"What? What are you two talking about?" Lin Siheng called down from the branches.

"Keep your voice down! Do you want to attract the Demon Beasts over here?" Lu Yuan glared up at him in warning.

"Oh." Lin Siheng immediately shut his mouth.

"Let’s get up in the trees as well." Lu Yuan led the two horses a bit further away and tied them to the sturdy branch of a shrub. Then, wrapping his arm around Lin Siyao’s slender waist, he leaped into the air. With just two light taps of his feet against the trunk, they ascended seven or eight meters high before continuing further up. Soon, they reached a height comparable to Lin Siheng’s.

Afterward, Lu Yuan made another trip down to retrieve his blade and his bow and arrows. His main priority was the Ten-Ton Bow.

"Brother Yuan, are you going to intervene?" Lin Siyao asked.

"No, let’s just watch for now. If necessary, I’ll casually fire a couple of arrows." Lu Yuan’s eyes flickered, his thoughts as sharp and focused as an arrowhead.
