Chapter 269: Chapter 269: Going to Gallia

The night before departure.

Vivian Lowell was in the bedroom, going over her belongings. She was so happy she couldn’t help but hum a little tune. ℯ

Julian Faulkner had nothing to do, so he stayed by Vivian’s side, keeping her company. Seeing her like this, he couldn’t help but smile softly.

Vivian had been earnestly recalling the travel guides she had searched for online, smiling to herself as she did so. She hadn’t expected Julian to start smiling along with her. She couldn’t help but look up. Casting a puzzled glance at him, she asked, "What are you smiling about?"

"I’m happy because you’re happy." Julian’s lips curled upwards; he indeed seemed to be in a very good mood. He continued, "However, Vivian...

"Originally, according to the plan for this trip, we were supposed to go play in the water. Gallia has quite a few coastal areas, with many beautiful islands and beaches. But now, you can’t go swimming or snorkeling, understand?"

Pregnant women shouldn’t soak in water for too long. Not to mention, Vivian wasn’t even three months along yet—it was the most critical period. According to the old wives’ tales, an expectant mother in her first trimester should be resting as much as possible!

But modern times were different, and Julian couldn’t bear to keep her cooped up in the house all day. Therefore, during this period, whether she went to work or out shopping, he hadn’t restricted her. Of course, this was on the premise that Vivian felt perfectly fine. If she felt tired, she still needed to rest.

Vivian was speechless. She had been in such high spirits. She was well aware of this restriction and felt it was a genuine pity, so she had been trying to slowly put it out of her mind.

Now that Julian brought it up again, she could only pull a long face. "Don’t worry, I know. I won’t do anything dangerous.

"Even when we go beachcombing, we’ll have professionals and bodyguards with us. I know all of it!"

Beachcombing carried its own risks. The tidal flats were littered with rocks. Sometimes they looked perfectly stable, but who knew if stepping on one would lead to twisting an ankle in a hidden dip.

Normally, it wouldn’t be a big deal. Vivian wasn’t a porcelain doll; a few bumps and bruises wouldn’t hurt her, resulting in nothing more than minor scrapes. However, a pregnant woman couldn’t afford such careless tumbles. Having professionals and bodyguards tag along was completely understandable.

"Yes, I understand."

Vivian nodded. Julian affectionately patted her head and said softly, "Also, our private doctor will be coming with us.

"But usually, the doctor will just travel with the team. If you’re feeling unwell, they’ll come over to take a look. As long as you’re fine, they won’t hover over you or insist on examining you constantly."

He had even prepared a doctor! Vivian couldn’t help but click her tongue. Still, traveling abroad meant that seeing a doctor wasn’t always convenient, so this was the best arrangement. She could understand his reasoning!

"Okay, sounds good."

Vivian agreed once more. After the couple finished discussing their travel arrangements, she realized just how meticulous Julian truly was. He had thought of everything, no matter how big or small!

That night, Vivian went to bed early. They had an early flight and needed to head to the airport at the crack of dawn. Although they were flying first-class—and international first-class cabins were incredibly comfortable, even equipped with showers—it was still better to rest well before the journey. Comfort aside, Vivian felt that since it wasn’t her own home, getting a good night’s sleep in her own bed was always the best!

The flight from Aethelburg to Pariden was somewhat long. Fortunately, Vivian’s sleep quality had been excellent since she got pregnant. Even though she had rested well the night before, she still fell asleep on the plane right after eating breakfast.

She woke up around noon, just in time for lunch. The in-flight meal was Gallic cuisine, which Vivian wasn’t particularly used to eating. Luckily, there was a plentiful supply of fruits and nuts.

After lunch, she handled some work and sketched a design. Shortly after, the cabin announcement chimed in, reminding the passengers that they would be arriving in Pariden in half an hour!

"That fast?"

Vivian was a bit surprised. Blinking, she looked out the window to see they were still above the white clouds. The entire sky was a brilliant blue. The sun hadn’t set yet; they had chased the sun all the way to Pariden!

"Mhm." Beside her, Julian reached over to help clear the items off her tray table. "Let me help you pack up. You’ve been sketching so intently; time naturally flies when you’re focused.

"Today, we’ll head to the hotel first. If you want to go shopping tonight, we can take a stroll. Tomorrow we’ll go beachcombing, and the day after that, we’ll head to Provencia. How does that sound?"

As for the day following Provencia, Fashion Week would begin. Since both Vivian and Julian had their own matters to attend to, they would naturally be staying in Pariden!

"Yeah, alright." Vivian closed her eyes, feeling drowsy again. According to domestic time, it shouldn’t be far from nightfall, right?

The plane’s descent was slightly bumpy. Vivian had never suffered from airsickness before, but with the turbulence this time, it was inevitable that she felt a bit dizzy for a short while. Fortunately, the plane landed swiftly. Once it began taxiing, Vivian felt much better.

The distance from the airport to the hotel wasn’t far—it took barely half an hour. On the ride there, Vivian eagerly watched the streetscapes outside the window.

"This place looks exactly the same as when I came here a few years ago! Look at that bakery—the baguettes there are delicious. Haha, Julian, you probably couldn’t imagine it!

"Baguettes can actually be tasty! The ones there aren’t that hard, and they have a really rich wheat aroma when you chew them!"

Baguettes. Julian stayed silent for a moment, recalling the baguettes he had eaten in the past. They had all been as hard as petrified rock. You could pick them up and use them straight as weapons, with a lethality comparable to a solid brick! Could they really be delicious? Julian was somewhat skeptical, but he silently memorized the name of the bakery anyway.

Since Vivian said it was good, and it was something she had eaten before, he would make an effort to remember it. When he had free time, he would go try it and taste the flavors she liked. It would be even better if he could go with her. With this in mind, Julian carefully noted down every good shop Vivian pointed out along the way.

Just like that, they arrived at the hotel.

The hotel was located in downtown Pariden, not far from The Caelus Tower. From their suite, they had a clear view of the Solis River, as well as The Lumina Museum not far away.

"There are so many attractions around here!" Vivian sat on a chair on the balcony, gazing outside, itching to go out and explore right this second!

Grandma Faulkner was also keeping Vivian company. Looking at the familiar streetscape, a kindly smile flashed across her eyes. "Vivian, rest for a little while first.

"The tower is stunning at night, and there’s a restaurant up there. If you’d like, we can go up there for dinner tonight! We can enjoy the night view at the same time."

A restaurant atop The Caelus Tower? The moment Vivian heard this, she instantly agreed.
