Kicked Out, Flash-Married, and Now He Won't Let Me Go
Chapter 295: News
“If you’re feeling down, why not just stay home and rest instead of going to the office today? You can take your time with any work you have. With so many employees at your company, there’s no need for you to handle everything yourself.” Grandma Faulkner offered a few words of comfort, afraid that Vivian Lowell would overwork herself.
Vivian nodded. She knew exactly what was going on with the company. Leo could now handle the vast majority of issues, and Finn was improving rapidly as well. Vivian felt completely at ease leaving many tasks in their hands. Her own responsibilities mainly consisted of overseeing the more critical designs, coordinating projects, and communicating with brand representatives to secure new orders. It wasn’t overly demanding, so occasionally slacking off was perfectly fine.
By the time she arrived home, it was already eleven o’clock. Vivian went upstairs to rest and watched a few videos. It wasn’t until Ms. Shaw called up from downstairs to announce that lunch was ready that Vivian finally turned off the TV and prepared to head down.
Before leaving her room, she picked up her phone. Upon unlocking it, she noticed several unread messages. They were from Julian Faulkner, Eleanor Rhodes, and Leo. Julian had texted to ask if she was home and what she was having for lunch. Leo’s messages were about various company matters and project updates, along with a few things that required Vivian’s approval. The documents needing her signature had already been sent to her email.
Vivian couldn’t help but sigh at the prospect of more work. She had taken the day off for her prenatal checkup and originally planned to enjoy some extra rest at home. Yet, after barely an hour of watching TV, it looked like she would be busy with work again all afternoon!
With that in mind, she opened her chat with Eleanor. Eleanor had sent a flurry of messages. The first few were photos—three in total, all slightly blurry, seemingly taken inside a shopping mall. In all three photos, the same two people appeared. Vivian immediately spotted them. It was Mason Grant and Shelly Lowell.
She wasn’t mistaken. The images showed Mason and Shelly inside a mall’s jewelry store. They were holding hands while picking out accessories, and in one particular shot, Mason was helping Shelly put on a necklace.
Speechless, Vivian fell silent as she stared at the photos.
Ironically, she had stumbled upon this exact same scenario a long time ago. She and Julian had bumped into them while grocery shopping at the supermarket. It had been Shelly and Mason back then, too. Picking out jewelry and trying it on, just like this. What a coincidence. She wondered if those two—birds of a feather who deserved each other—had gotten back together.
As she pondered this, Vivian read the rest of Eleanor’s messages.
“Vivian, bet you didn’t see this coming! A classmate of mine spotted them at the mall the other day. She’s chronically online, so she knows all the gossip about what happened in Aethelburg!
“Of course… she also knows about Shelly’s relationship with you. The moment she saw them, she snapped these pictures and sent them straight to me. She said she took them yesterday. Tsk, tsk, those two!”
After reading Eleanor’s messages, a cold sneer flashed across Vivian’s lips. She knew exactly what kind of people Shelly and Mason were. Neither of them was any good. Given Shelly’s personality, if Mason had always treated her well, she probably wouldn’t have minded staying with him indefinitely.
But obviously, that wasn’t the case. Vivian remembered hearing that after the Lowell Family’s downfall, Shelly had gone to Mason for help, only to be rejected. After that, Vivian hadn’t heard much about Shelly at all.
