Chapter 64 — Spikey’s Past

Maddy looked at Spikey for a moment before finally deciding to follow him.

They began travelling through the forest. Hours passed as they moved deeper into the wilderness, far away from the main roads and nearby villages.

Eventually, they reached a cave hidden inside the Forest of Mist.

Maddy looked around carefully.

"Wait... isn’t this the Forest of Mist? This is one of the most dangerous forests. Most of the crimes in this region happen here."

Spikey laughed.

"Don’t worry. I’m with you. This forest might be dangerous for ordinary people, but not for me."

Without hesitation, Spikey entered the cave. Maddy followed him.

Inside, the cave was much larger than it appeared from outside. It had been turned into a hidden hideout, with a few rooms and a place to rest.

Spikey turned toward Maddy.

"So, let’s answer your question first. You’re probably wondering why I want to revive Lira."

Maddy immediately interrupted him.

"Wait! How did you know what I was going to ask?"

Spikey smiled.

"I can read your expression. I simply guessed. It’s not like I know everything you’re thinking."

Maddy nodded.

"Okay. Tell me."

Spikey became serious.

"I don’t know whether Lira ever told you this story, but I was her friend."

Maddy listened carefully.

"Her family was extremely rude to her. One day, her elder sister challenged her and asked, ’Can you defeat Spikey?’ Lira confidently said yes. But I defeated her."

Spikey paused before continuing.

"Because of that defeat, she was kicked out of the Arvellan family."

Maddy suddenly raised his voice.

"She told me about this! But I didn’t know that you were the boy who defeated Lira!"

Spikey looked at him calmly.

"Don’t get angry. Think about it. Even if Lira had won that fight, they would only have accepted her temporarily. The Arvellan family never truly loved her. Sooner or later, they would have found another reason to throw her out."

Maddy slowly became quiet.

After a moment, he asked, "What’s the name of Lira’s kingdom?"

"Selon Kingdom," Spikey answered.

Maddy’s expression changed.

"Wait! Selon is one of the most powerful kingdoms!"

Spikey nodded.

"Yes. That’s right."

Maddy then asked another question.

"Then why did you leave?"

Spikey’s expression darkened.

"Years later, my parents were killed by the Arvellan family. They blamed me for defeating Lira’s elder sister. I lost my family because of that incident, and eventually, I left the kingdom."

He looked down for a moment before continuing.

"Since then, I’ve had two goals. First, I want to destroy the Arvellan family. Second, I want to change the way this world works. I want everyone to know that nobody is naturally above or below anyone else. There should be no discrimination against people because of their lower caste."

Maddy listened to his words. Then he slowly smiled.

"Alright. I’ll help you."

Spikey looked surprised.

"Really?"

"Yes. I understand what you’re trying to do."

Spikey nodded before bringing up another matter.

"After I heard about Lira’s death, I promised myself that I would kill Juyew. But that old man refused to allow it."

Maddy immediately understood.

"Oh! You mean Gyro sir?"

Spikey looked at him.

"Wait. Is that man really Gyro, the Grand Master?"

Maddy nodded.

"Yes. He’s the one."

Spikey seemed surprised by the revelation.

"But when I saw your determination to bring Lira back, I understood something. You also want her back as much as I do. That’s why I decided to find you."

He stepped closer to Maddy.

"Together, we will revive Lira."

Maddy’s eyes widened with hope.

"How? How will we revive Lira?"

Spikey smiled.

"That’s exactly what I’m going to explain."
