King of Ten Thousand Years

Chapter 632: Water Blue Realm

Yan Feixiao tidied his appearance slightly and went to the main reception hall, where he saw two elders and a young woman.

“Greetings, Seniors,”

Yan Feixiao said with a slight bow.

The Ning Family was one of the Five Ancient Clans; even with his status, he had to show them some respect.

Yan Feixiao’s gaze swept past the two elders and landed on a woman in white, his eyes instantly lighting up.

The woman before him had skin like ice and bones of jade, features as if drawn for a painting, and an ethereal air. She was like a peerless beauty who had stepped out of a classic poem, stunning beyond compare.

“You must be Ning Xueyao, I presume?”

Yan Feixiao said, a gentle smile gracing his lips.

“Ning Xueyao greets Master Yan.”

Ning Xueyao replied calmly.

“Xueyao, you can call him Master now.”

“Yan Feixiao is the most outstanding and renowned young mentor at the Wuji Saint Institute. In the future, he is destined to become a pillar among the Institute’s mentors.”

An elder with white eyebrows said slowly.

“That’s right. You must cherish this opportunity to study under Master Yan. Make sure you ask for his guidance with humility!”

The old woman beside him added.

These two were high-ranking members of the Ning Family.

“You two flatter me.”

Yan Feixiao said humbly.

“Miss Xueyao is a prodigy in her own right. I will prove my worth with genuine skill and knowledge. She can call me Master whenever she feels I have earned her recognition.”

Yan Feixiao spoke with a calm and measured tone, a smile playing on his lips.

The two high-ranking members of the Ning Family couldn’t help but nod.

With just a few simple words, Yan Feixiao displayed an extraordinary air and a magnanimous heart. They were extremely satisfied with such an outstanding young man.

After a brief exchange.

“Master Yan, I’m entrusting my niece to you.”

The elder said with profound meaning before departing.

Yan Feixiao nodded with a smile.

On the surface, this meeting with the Ning Family was about Ning Xueyao becoming his student.

In reality, it was a political marriage between the Ning Family of the Five Ancient Clans and the Yan Family of the Ten Great Super Families.

Yan Feixiao hadn’t expected the Ning Family’s bargaining chip to be so breathtaking.

The moment he laid eyes on Ning Xueyao, Yan Feixiao decided that he must possess this woman.

Afterward, using his experience and judgment as a mentor, he determined that Ning Xueyao’s talent and potential were exceptionally high.

This made Yan Feixiao all the more satisfied.

‘This woman doesn’t seem to know her family’s intentions yet. Her temperament is likely quite strong-willed, so she won’t accept this so easily. Perfect. That just means I’ll get to be the one to slowly break down your defenses and capture your heart.’

The corners of Yan Feixiao’s mouth curled into a slight smirk.

‘As for Ye Shuiyun, I’ll set her aside for now.’

‘I’ve done so much for that woman recently with nothing to show for it, and my patience is wearing thin.’

‘First, I’ll win over Ning Xueyao. Once the marriage is settled, it won’t be too late to deal with Ye Shuiyun.’

‘This is a world where the strong are revered. Many of the great powers famous throughout the Pale Ring have several women.’

‘For someone as outstanding as me, it’s only natural to have several women as well.’

…

Luo Tian connected the dots between the Dark Soul Insect from a month ago and his current teaching assignment, deducing who was pulling the strings.

‘Yan Feixiao!’

A month ago, right after parting ways with Ye Shuiyun, he had been ambushed by a Dark Soul Insect.

Before that, Yan Feixiao had shown up. He appeared calm on the surface, but Luo Tian could sense that something was wrong with his emotional state.

Furthermore, an ordinary person wouldn’t be able to influence the assignment of a mentor’s duties.

Even a Middle Level Tutor would have to pay a considerable price to do so.

Luo Tian believed Yan Feixiao was the most likely culprit.

“Luo Tian, don’t spout such nonsense.”

The director exclaimed in a panic.

Yan Feixiao was an Advanced Tutor at the Saint Institute, from the Yan Family of the Ten Great Super Families. His influence was terrifyingly vast.

Even the director wouldn’t dare to cross Yan Feixiao.

“Just get ready and leave as soon as possible.”

The director departed swiftly.

If Yan Feixiao was truly involved, he couldn’t help Luo Tian; in fact, he might get dragged down with him.

「Three days later.」

Luo Tian, having made his preparations, departed from the Wuji Saint Institute amidst farewells from his students.

「Over a month later.」

Luo Tian arrived at the nearest Martial City Spirit Hall and used its Teleportation Array to traverse an immense distance, crossing twenty to thirty different realms.

‘The destination is the Water Blue Realm. Still another month and a half of travel to go.’

Luo Tian departed from the Martial City Spirit Hall, entering a vast, grayish-white void.

「A month and a half later.」

In the boundless, grayish-white void, distinct fluctuations of Spiritual Qi could be felt.

Before long, Luo Tian spotted a massive, damaged barrier that enclosed a realm.

The Water Blue Realm was in the midst of a great war.

As he neared his destination, Luo Tian had already encountered numerous enemies. He had assumed they were bandits and dealt with them without mercy.

The Water Blue Realm’s barrier was partially shattered, allowing Luo Tian to enter smoothly. His arrival immediately drew the attention of the Human Race’s army.

“Luo Tian, Junior Tutor of the Wuji Saint Institute.”

Luo Tian presented his Identity Token. Only after a tedious inspection was he finally allowed to pass.

‘Just as I thought. This is not a good place to be.’

Luo Tian was already mentally prepared.

However, the teaching assignment required him to stay for at least three months before he could return.

「Three days later.」

Luo Tian arrived at his assigned post: a place called Celestial Brilliance Academy.

The academy’s elders and mentors held a grand banquet in his honor.

Luo Tian could tell that while the higher-ups of Celestial Brilliance Academy were superficially flattering, their attitude was actually somewhat perfunctory.

After the banquet ended.

“Master Luo, your residence is this way. Please, follow me.”

A stunning female mentor with a tall, elegant figure and long, slender legs spoke.

As the two walked through the academy, they suddenly overheard quiet whispers from a nearby area.

“Was that the mentor from the Wuji Saint Institute?”

“Don’t be too impressed. I heard from the elders that the mentors sent on these teaching assignments are always the bottom-of-the-barrel ones from the Wuji Saint Institute.”

“These mentors don’t have much to offer. They just want to line their own pockets and couldn’t care less about the desperate situation we’re in…”

“You two! What are you whispering about?”

The stunning mentor’s cold shout cut off their discussion.

Two students emerged from the woods. Upon seeing Luo Tian, their faces instantly turned deathly pale.

“Master Luo, please forgive us!”

The two of them hastily knelt, begging for mercy.

After all, Luo Tian was a mentor from the Saint Institute; his status was anything but ordinary.

“What crime have you committed?”

Luo Tian retorted.

The two students were stunned for a moment. When they looked up, they saw that Master Luo had already departed.

The stunning mentor cast a surprised glance at Luo Tian before hurrying to follow him.

She stole a few glances at Luo Tian, realizing that this mentor from the Saint Institute had a placid expression and a calm demeanor. He truly wasn’t angry.

The two of them stopped before a pavilion.

“Master Luo, you are truly magnanimous to forgive those two students for their insolent gossip. I, Zi Yue, am impressed!”

The stunning mentor said.

Luo Tian paid her compliment no mind. He simply asked, “How long has the war in the Water Blue Realm been going on?”

A few years ago, he had returned to Dongchen and ended its war.

If he hadn’t, Dongchen might still be at war, or it might have already been conquered by the Alien Race.

Because of this, he felt some sympathy for the Water Blue Realm’s situation.

“Eighteen years.”

The stunning mentor’s voice was heavy.

Luo Tian was taken aback.

‘That long?’

Before entering the Wuji Saint Institute, he had heard that the Pale Ring was a chaotic place where wars were frequent.

He hadn’t thought much of it at the time, but now the reality of it struck him.

“Eighteen years ago, a world-shaking war engulfed more than half of the Pale Ring, involving hundreds of races… Although that great war has since ended, its embers continue to ignite fires all over.”

The stunning mentor said, a hint of sorrow in her voice.

Luo Tian had heard about it a few times—the world-shaking war from eighteen years ago that had even affected the Broken Ring.

It was said that the civilization of the Human Race had nearly been extinguished in the fires of that war.

‘Hmm? Eighteen years ago, a world-shaking war… seeking refuge…’

Fragments of information began connecting in Luo Tian’s mind.

“Master Luo, you should get some rest. In a few months, you’ll be leaving this place and returning to the Wuji Saint Institute.”

The stunning mentor said no more and departed.

Luo Tian shook his head with a sigh and entered his residence.

This teaching assignment really was a bad draw.

This was in comparison to most mentors on such assignments; others were probably being waited on hand and foot right now.

But here, in a realm engulfed by war, people couldn’t even guarantee their own safety, let alone the safety of their homes. Naturally, they had neither the time nor the inclination to flatter and curry favor with him.

Of course, Celestial Brilliance Academy didn’t expect him to do much, either. Luo Tian didn’t have any grand plans himself; he would just stay for a few months and then leave.

However, this mission was certainly a waste of his time, preventing him from instructing his students. With the upcoming Ancient Secret Realm, he wouldn’t be able to provide them with special training or supervision.

‘That Yan Feixiao… If I get the chance in the future, I’ll make him pay for this.’

Luo Tian snorted.

…

「Outside the Water Blue Realm.」

Three uninvited guests arrived.

“Who on earth did that guy piss off to get sent to a war-torn place like this?”

Liu Lu wondered aloud.

A Wuji Saint Institute mentor’s status carries a lot of weight out here. Teaching assignments are highly sought after, as they’re a great chance to reap benefits.

Luo Tian’s assignment, on the other hand, was just a waste of time with no real rewards.

“But that works out perfectly. This place is remote and war-torn. If you die here, the Saint Institute’s suspicions will be minimal.”

A bone-chilling killing intent flared in Liu Lu’s eyes!

He had wanted to kill Luo Tian for a long time, ever since he was repelled by Luo Tian’s Demon Thought Technique.

Since then, he had cultivated a Spiritual Secret Technique and prepared countermeasures.

Not only that, he had also found two helpers.

“I’m telling you, Liu Lu, you’d better not be setting me up!”

One of the men, a tall figure cloaked in a black robe, his face hidden, spoke.

“Why would I set you up? When this is done, I won’t take a single one of the treasures on him,” Liu Lu said.

“Hmph. Liu Lu, as if you haven’t set people up before,” an old man’s voice interjected. The speaker was none other than the former Steward Tie of the Celestial Cloud Restaurant.

He had been fired after that incident.

Not long ago, Liu Lu had sought him out, offering him a chance at revenge.

“Enough bickering! With the three of us making a move, how could we possibly fail?”

Liu Lu snapped impatiently.

His cultivation was at the Sixth Layer of the Celestial Pool Realm.

The tall man was a good friend of his, also at the Sixth Layer of the Celestial Pool Realm.

As for Steward Tie, his cultivation was at the Peak of the Celestial Pool Realm Fifth Layer.

With a lineup like this, if they failed to deal with a mere Junior Tutor at the Celestial Pool Realm Third Layer, they might as well just kill themselves.

“Who goes there?”

Suddenly, a patrol from the distance spotted them. They were from the “Ghost Liao Race,” an enemy of the Human Race!

“It’s three humans!”

“Get them!”

Seeing Liu Lu and his two companions, the Ghost Liao Race patrol charged forward to kill them.

A small patrol was naturally no match for Liu Lu’s group.

However, after the three of them annihilated the Ghost Liao Race patrol, they attracted even more enemies and were soon forced to flee for their lives.

“Liu Lu, you’ve really gotten us into it now!”

Steward Tie cursed, furious and exasperated.
