King of Ten Thousand Years
Chapter 637: Impartial Law Enforcement
Teng Yuanxing’s expression changed drastically. He couldn’t believe his eyes.
‘Luo Tian took my palm strike head-on and was completely unharmed?’
The sharp-faced man with Teng Yuanxing was also surprised.
Teng Yuanxing was a supreme genius from the Broken Ring, considered outstanding even in the Pale Ring.
‘Luo Tian looks so young. Is he even more formidable than Teng Yuanxing? How have I never heard of him?’
“Luo Tian, don’t be so arrogant! Let’s see you take another one of my palm strikes!”
Enraged, Teng Yuanxing attacked again.
He unleashed his full power. A ghostly green nebula spread out, roiling violently.
“Not interested.”
Luo Tian calmly shook his head. “You, however, were reckless enough to attack someone in the Martial City Spirit Hall. How about you slap yourself across the face first?”
“Ridiculous!”
Teng Yuanxing sneered.
He dared to attack because he had powerful backing.
The very instant Teng Yuanxing struck again, Luo Tian’s gaze locked onto his eyes.
He activated the Demon Thought Technique.
A sinister, ghostly light swirled within Luo Tian’s eyes.
A flash of fear appeared in Teng Yuanxing’s eyes before they calmed and turned pitch-black.
THWACK!
Then, the powerful palm strike Teng Yuanxing had been building up swung around and smacked him right across his own face.
The strike was unbelievably vicious. It knocked his face crooked, sending a spray of blood and seven or eight teeth flying more than ten meters!
Teng Yuanxing himself was sent flying backward, smashing into a wall and becoming embedded in it.
“Damn, what just happened?”
“Did that guy really just hit himself? And that hard?”
“That’s terrifying. When he gets vicious, he doesn’t even spare himself.”
The crowd was utterly shocked.
It was simply unbelievable.
Luo Tian told Teng Yuanxing to slap himself, and he actually did it!
“Good, very obedient.”
Luo Tian nodded with a faint smile.
With his Demon Thought Technique at the Perfection realm, he could directly invade a target’s mind and even control their consciousness.
A moment ago, Teng Yuanxing had been “controlled” by Luo Tian!
“I… what happened?”
After hitting himself, a dumbfounded Teng Yuanxing stared at Luo Tian, his eyes filled with deep fear.
Just a moment ago.
He felt as if he had seen the colossal shadow of a pitch-black demon emitting an aura that could suppress the heavens. He had been rendered immobile, his body moving like a puppet on a string, forced to strike himself.
“Teng Yuanxing, what are you doing?”
The richly dressed, sharp-faced man demanded coldly.
‘Teng Yuanxing was supposed to be apprehending someone, so why did he hit himself? He even damaged the wall of my residence!’
“Young Master Gong, I don’t know! This kid… he’s uncanny!”
Teng Yuanxing cried out.
“Useless waste!”
The sharp-faced man’s expression darkened. “Guards!” he shouted coldly.
The next moment, a dozen or so Celestial Level Martial Artists in Golden Armor arrived. It was the Law Enforcement Team from the Martial City Spirit Hall.
“This man is causing trouble in the Martial City Spirit Hall. Seize him,” the sharp-faced man ordered.
“You have excellent judgment,” Luo Tian said, his tone laced with sarcasm. “The one causing trouble is clearly him, yet you insist it’s me.”
Luo Tian found it laughable.
‘Does the Law Enforcement Team of the Martial City Spirit Hall really act so wantonly, unable to tell right from wrong?’
The onlookers who saw this also felt indignant on Luo Tian’s behalf.
But no one dared to offend the Law Enforcement Team or speak a single word in his defense. They all acted as if it was none of their business.
“The one causing trouble is whoever I say is causing trouble.”
The sharp-faced man’s expression was cold and proud.
“Luo Tian, surrender obediently! If you dare to resist, you’ll be making an enemy of the entire Martial City Spirit Hall,” Teng Yuanxing said haughtily.
He had dared to attack Luo Tian in the Martial City Spirit Hall because he was relying on his connections.
A captain in the Martial City Spirit Hall’s Law Enforcement Team owed a great debt to the Sea Demon Palace.
It was this captain who was looking out for Teng Yuanxing, securing him a spot in the assessment for the Wuji Saint Institute’s admissions in six months.
The sharp-faced man was that captain’s nephew, Gong Yulin.
“Get him!”
The dozen or so law enforcement officers surrounded Luo Tian and charged.
If Luo Tian dared to resist, they would not hesitate to use force to subdue him.
Faced with this situation, Luo Tian turned his gaze to Teng Yuanxing.
Teng Yuanxing froze.
‘Why is he looking at me? Is he about to beg for his life?’
But the next moment, a familiar sense of dread washed over him, and his eyes suddenly turned pitch-black.
WHOOSH!
Teng Yuanxing charged at the members of the Law Enforcement Team, condensed a massive, ghostly green palm, and slammed it toward them.
Caught off guard by the sudden attack, the law enforcement officers couldn’t react in time.
BAM! BAM! BAM!
Three officers were sent flying on the spot, getting embedded in the same wall.
The remaining officers were stunned. ‘What is this guy doing?’
Besides, Teng Yuanxing was Young Master Gong’s guest, so they didn’t dare to apprehend him directly.
And so…
The law enforcement officers could only watch as Teng Yuanxing attacked them again.
“Teng Yuanxing, I’m trying to help you! What do you think you’re doing!”
The sharp-faced Gong Yulin roared, his expression grim.
‘Has Teng Yuanxing gone mad?’
“The officers of the Martial City Spirit Hall are confounding right and wrong, framing an innocent man! I cannot stand by and watch this injustice! I must step in and help!”
Teng Yuanxing declared furiously.
Hearing this, Gong Yulin was left speechless and nearly coughed up blood in a fit of rage.
After their initial shock, the onlookers burst into laughter.
“Seize him!”
Gong Yulin roared, utterly exasperated.
‘Teng Yuanxing has utterly humiliated me. I really don’t understand why my uncle would want to help such a fool.’
And so…
The law enforcement officers surrounded Teng Yuanxing and swarmed him.
Within moments, Teng Yuanxing was beaten to the ground, his face bruised and swollen like a pig’s head.
“The officers of the Martial City Spirit Hall have enforced the law impartially and captured the troublemaker. Well done.”
Luo Tian clapped his hands.
CLAP! CLAP! CLAP!
The surrounding onlookers also began to applaud.
But to Gong Yulin, the sound of the applause was grating, making his skin crawl.
“You’re coming with me, too. I have some questions for you,”
Gong Yulin said to Luo Tian.
Having been thwarted this time, he wasn’t about to let Luo Tian go so easily.
‘Once we get to the dungeons, I’ll be the one calling the shots!’
Just then, an old man walked out of the residence with the human-shaped dents in its wall.
“Young Master Yulin, what happened?”
the old man asked hurriedly.
“It’s nothing. We just caught a few troublemakers.”
Gong Yulin said calmly, preparing to head to the Law Enforcement Hall.
But the old man’s gaze suddenly fixed on Luo Tian. As if recalling something, he immediately sent a voice transmission to Gong Yulin: “Young Master, I believe that man is a Junior Tutor from the Wuji Saint Institute.”
“The last time I went to the Wuji Sacred City on an errand for my master, I heard about him. Something about the Chuyang Grand Competition…”
“A Holy Academy Tutor?”
Gong Yulin froze.
He had thought the person the Sea Demon Palace wanted to capture was just some common fugitive, but he was actually a mentor from the Wuji Saint Institute!
The Wuji Saint Institute was one of the Three Great Saint Institutes of the Pale Ring’s Human Race Influence. Its power was immense. A single Martial City Spirit Hall was nothing before such a behemoth.
Moreover, this particular Martial City Spirit Hall was located near the Wuji Saint Institute and had been thoroughly infiltrated by it.
He had just tried to arrest a mentor from the Wuji Saint Institute. If it had been for a legitimate reason, it might have been fine, but he had completely fabricated the charges and abused his authority.
“Housekeeper Xu is probably mistaken.”
Gong Yulin thought, clutching at a sliver of hope.
‘He’s from the Broken Ring, and he’s so young. How could he possibly be a mentor at the Wuji Saint Institute?’
