Chapter 717: Chapter 338: Adopting New Hunting Dogs!

Seeing that both Lin Yu’an and Liang Wenbin were taken aback, he immediately explained:

"This is not to restrict your personal freedom, but a necessary procedure for the case. You are the only and most important civilian witness and assisting party in this case."

"During the upcoming interrogation and investigation process, we may need you to verify or identify certain details at any time. We need to ensure we can contact you at any moment."

He glanced at Liang Wenbin and said sincerely, "Director Liang, I hope you and Mr. Lin can understand this."

"This case is extremely vile in nature, involving firearms, a first-class protected animal, and even resulted in a death. Both the provincial department and the Armed Police Headquarters are highly concerned."

"We cannot afford any procedural errors."

Liang Wenbin immediately understood Li Jian Country’s stance. The other party has already given the maximum leniency within his authority.

Liang Wenbin immediately expressed his position, "Old Li, you’re doing the right thing! Discipline is discipline!"

He patted Lin Yu’an on the shoulder, "Yu’an, just relax and stay in Kunming for a few days, it’s a good time for a little break. The bureau will arrange the best hotel for you. Just consider it a vacation."

Lin Yu’an completely understood, and he solemnly nodded: "Captain Li, rest assured, I will fully cooperate. You can call on me anytime you need."

"Great! With your word, Mr. Lin, I’m relieved." Li Jian Country’s face showed a relaxed smile.

"The formalities are done. Mr. Lin, on behalf of the task force, thank you once again! If it weren’t for you, who knows how many lives these beasts would continue to threaten."

"Officer Li, you’re too kind."

Liang Wenbin took over the conversation, "Hahaha, no need for modesty here, we’re all serving the people! Let’s go, Yu’an, I’ll take you back to the hotel."

"Old Li, we’ll communicate about the follow-up matters anytime, thank you for your hard work today!"

With that, under the personal escort of Liang Wenbin, Lin Yu’an smoothly left the interrogation room that day.

As they passed through the back courtyard of the police branch, a series of suppressed whimpering sounds attracted Lin Yu’an’s attention.

He stopped and looked in the direction of the sound. He saw three separate iron cages, each containing a dog.

They were no longer the formidable sentinels spotted in yesterday’s drone surveillance, but had turned into three drooping, fearful, and bewildered prisoners.

In the center cage, there was the largest dog, with black back and yellow belly fur, resembling a German shepherd, a Kunming Dog.

It was obviously the leader of the pack, even in captivity, its back remained straight as a rod, eyes cautiously scanning the surroundings.

But when its eyes met Lin Yu’an’s, a barely noticeable fear flickered through them.

In the two cages beside it, there were two Kishu Dogs with extremely distinctive appearances.

Their bodies were covered with a layer of coarse, needle-like white fur, muscular physiques, with faces spotted with red, and eyes full of an unyielding wildness.

At this moment, they had lost the ferocity they had in the mountains and were nervously pacing in the cages, emitting distressing whines from their throats.

As Lin Yu’an approached, the gaze of all three dogs simultaneously focused on him.

Perhaps they picked up a familiar scent from this man, a mix of the forest’s blood and gunpowder, a scent belonging to the Hunter.

Their gaze was no longer fierce but rather pitiable, even carrying a hint of pleading.

"Captain Li," Lin Yu’an turned his head and softly asked Li Jian Country, who accompanied them out, "Are these three dogs from that group?"

Li Jian Country nodded, a complicated expression crossing his face, "Yes. It’s them. One Kunming Dog, two Kishu Dogs, all great hunting dogs."

"During the capture on site, these beasts even tried to pounce and bite, but our police dogs subdued them."

"What will happen to them in the end?" Lin Yu’an asked.

This question instantly made the atmosphere heavy.

Officer Li looked at the compassion in Lin Yu’an’s eyes, his expression turning complex.

He sighed, using a tone that was both an explanation and a statement of fact, slowly said, "Mr. Lin, I understand what you’re thinking."

"But legally, they are now considered tools of crime, just like those crude shotguns and that tricycle, they must be sealed, impounded as evidence."

"During the investigation and trial period, they will be temporarily housed here, undergoing quarantine and behavioral evaluation."

"Once the trial is over and they’ve completed their purpose as evidence, they will enter the final disposal process."

Li Jian Country paused, his voice finally carrying a hint of helplessness.

"In this process, our top priority is always societal safety. These few are top-grade mountain hunting dogs, full of wildness, and have demonstrated clear aggressive behaviors."

"They are not ordinary pet dogs; they are weaponized animals."

"Therefore, our initial attempt will be to contact professional animal rescue organizations or units experienced in raising fierce dogs, to see if it’s possible to rehabilitate and adopt them."

"But this is very difficult, extremely difficult. The majority of organizations are unwilling to take on this hot potato."

"If no one comes forward for a long time, or after evaluation, their aggression is deemed solidified and impossible to safely rehabilitate..."

He looked at Lin Yu’an and finally stated the cold answer, "To prevent them from being released back into society and causing harm again, the final option is humane treatment."
