Chapter 779: Chapter 356: Noble Considerations (Part 2)
Thinking of the instigator of it all, she couldn’t help but complain in her heart, "In the end, it’s all Kira’s fault for giving false information, causing this whole fuss..."
She picked up her wine glass, just about to steer the conversation toward a safer, lighter topic.
A voice full of excitement and seeking praise suddenly came from the direction of the hallway.
"Mom, Riven, look what I have!"
Only to see Kira burst in like a gust of wind, holding a large, long object!
She was clearly dressed up too, wearing a fashionable short skirt, with a radiant smile that screamed "I’m the savior."
Completely oblivious to the subtle atmosphere in the living room, and unaware that her mother had just shifted her mindset from "choosing a son-in-law" to "keeping a distance" within minutes.
Right now, Kira was focused entirely on her "ultimate assist" plan!
She walked straight to the still-surprised Riven, holding the enormous object high.
"Ta-da!" she exclaimed exaggeratedly, "Riven! Happy Birthday!"
"Birthday?" Lin Yu’an’s face revealed an unguarded surprise.
He looked at Riven, completely unaware that today was her birthday, with no hint given during the day.
Riven was also completely bewildered, looking at the huge gift wrapped tightly, clearly recognizing the outline of a surfboard.
Then she looked at the smug-faced Kira, finally casting a look of disbelief at Lin Yu’an.
"Lin...this..." her voice trembled.
"Don’t look at him, open it quickly!" Kira urged excitedly, determined to see this assist through to the end.
"This is the birthday gift Lin specifically prepared for you! He said he didn’t want to see his coach have any regrets!"
Lin Yu’an watched the unexpected situation unfolding before him, a bit amused and helpless.
He initially only wanted to give a low-key sailing gift, not expecting Kira to blow it up into a significant birthday gift in front of the entire family.
Now, even if he wanted to explain, it would seem unnecessary and untimely.
Amid everyone’s encouraging gazes, Riven took a deep breath, her fingers cautiously peeling away the outer foam packaging.
As the layers of wrapping were peeled away, that legendary, time-worn, old-style shortboard finally revealed itself to everyone.
When Riven saw the signature at the head of the board, already somewhat blurred but still legibly reading ’Eddie Aikau’, her breath momentarily halted!
Time seemed to pause at this moment.
Reaching out her hand, her fingertips brushed over that signature, and then across the deep and shallow scratches on the board, as if touching a rare treasure.
She could imagine the legendary surfer dancing on this board in the giant waves of Hawaii decades ago.
This board had a soul.
A huge wave of emotion and surprise engulfed her like a tidal wave.
The desires she forcibly suppressed during the day in the store, under the guise of "carefree" and "rational," were now completely shattered by this unexpected surprise.
Looking up at Lin Yu’an, for the first time, her sapphire-clear eyes, always radiating confidence, were now clouded with a layer of shimmering mist.
She opened her mouth, wanting to say something, but found her throat seemed to be blocked by something, unable to utter a word.
Riven wasn’t the type of girl easily moved by expensive gifts, nor would her family be shocked by 50,000 US Dollars.
But what Lin Yu’an gave was different. He didn’t give 50,000 US Dollars, nor a luxury item for showing off.
What he gave was her innermost purest "belief" and "totem" regarding surfing.
Lin Yu’an understood the reverence in her eyes during the day and comprehended her unintended words, "Eddie’s spirit is in the sea."
This man not only possessed extraordinary wisdom and strength but also a tender insight into human hearts.
The next second, Riven did something unexpected for everyone, including herself.
She suddenly rushed forward two steps and, before Lin Yu’an could react, embraced him tightly once more, even harder than on the boat yesterday!
This hug was no longer just about gratitude after surviving a disaster.
It was filled with more complex, passionate emotions—a moving acknowledgment of a dream understood, a thrill of her heart being seen through, an indescribable signal of surrender.
"Thank you..." her voice was thick with emotion, muffled against Lin Yu’an’s chest, "Thank you..."
She didn’t even know how to express her current mood, only able to use that word to describe the man who so easily dismantled all her defenses.
Lin Yu’an was taken aback by the sudden embrace, stepping back slightly. He could clearly feel the joy of the girl in his arms, vivid and bright as the sun.
He hesitantly raised his hand, and after a moment of pause, gently placed it on her back, patting in a comforting manner.
"Happy birthday, Riven." He could only softly whisper this belated blessing in her ear.
Meanwhile, Kira, immersed in the triumph of her perfect plan, seeing this scene unfold, wanted to whistle loudly! See! I knew it would turn out this way!
But she quickly sensed, from behind, a chilling gaze like the cold flow from Siberia.
