Knot The One They Want
Chapter 149: Get In The Car Lorali!
Lorali
The heavy double doors of the club burst open, and the deafening bass instantly gave way to the cool, quiet dampness of the night air. Torin marched straight down the concrete steps toward the parking lot.
The moment the doors swung shut behind us and the crowd was out of sight, my shame evaporated, replaced by a scorching, razor-sharp fury.
How dare he appear out of nowhere and flung me over his shoulder as if I’m some sort of toy. Damn bastard (which he actually is, poor guy) thinks he can just handle me like an object? I’ll show him what happens when you touch me!
I stopped slamming my fist against his back. Instead, I carefully shifted my right hand, spreading my fingers out against the back of his neck, right above his crisp collar. I had a fresh set of long, razor-sharp acrylic nails.
With all the strength left in my body, I curled my fingers and dug my nails straight into his flesh. I dragged them down. Hard.
Torin stiffened instantly. A sharp, sharp intake of air hissed through his teeth as my nails tore through his skin, gouging four deep, bloody tracks into the nape of his neck, blood instantly welled up, coating my fingers.
"Damn it, Lorali!" he grunted, his grip slacking just enough.
He didn’t drop me, but he quickly maneuvered me downward, lowering his shoulder until my high heels struck the damp asphalt of the parking lot. I stumbled back a step, catching my balance against the side of a sleek black SUV, my breathing heavy and ragged.
Blood was dripping down his neck, staining the top of his white dress shirt, but he didn’t look as bothered as I expected him to look. He just turned to face me, his dark eyes locked onto mine.
"You are going to regret doing that," I spat, wiping his blood off my nails onto my clothes, my voice trembling with a terrifying mix of rage and adrenaline.
Torin raised an eyebrow, his lips curving into a flat, lifeless line. "I highly doubt it."
I stared at him, a breathless, incredulous laugh tearing from my chest. I was baffled. Completely, utterly baffled. What on earth was happening to him?! Why was he acting like this? Where was the soft, desperate Alpha who used to lower his head whenever I raised my voice?
"You’re crazy, aren’t you?" I laughed, pointing a blood-stained finger at his chest. "You’ve completely lost your mind!"
"No," Torin said calmly, taking one slow step toward me, looking at me as if I am some exotic zoo animal on display. "I’m pretty sure you’re the crazy one here."
"I am not crazy!" I yelled, my voice ringing out in the quiet parking lot. How dare he call me crazy?! I was the victim here! I was the sane, reasonable person who had been pushed into a corner by his psychotic pack! I was completely normal! "I am going to let that slide because you clearly have to be on something at this point. Now, I am going to turn around, I am going to walk back into that party, and you will not follow me!"
Torin let out a laugh.
It wasn’t a normal laugh. It was a cold, hollow sound, entirely devoid of any actual amusement or joy. It sounded like dry ice scraping against metal. I was set off by that laugh, nothing is funny here. He shouldn’t be laughing!
"That’s a good joke, ain’t it?" he said, his voice dropping into a dark, commanding register. "But no. What you’re going to do is leave with me. You’re going back to the penthouse with me. This night is over."
I stared at him, throwing my hands up in the air. "Oh! What even is this behavior?! What makes you think you can tell me what to do?!"
"I’m your Alpha, your main Alpha" Torin said smoothly, his eyes flashing with a sudden, overwhelming wave of dominant pressure that made the hair on my arms stand up. "I can tell you what to do. That is why you have an Alpha. I tell you what to do."
"In your sweet dreams!" I snapped, turning on my heel to walk away from him, heading toward the club entrance.
"I wouldn’t walk away like that, Lorali," his voice called out behind me, sounding unbothered that I’m walking away from his miserable ass!
I stopped, turning my head slightly to glare at him over my shoulder. "Or what? I’m not interested in playing your little game, Torin! Your new little trick in trying to win me over by force? It’s never going to happen!"
"We’ll see about that," Torin said softly. He took his hands out of his pockets, taking a casual step toward me. "But if you walk away now and do not get in my car... I promise you, I will hold a press conference."
A cold stillness settled over the air.
"I will tell everyone," Torin continued, his tone as casual as if he were discussing the weather, "the entire world, that your crazy omega ass landed my mother in a hospital bed, blind on one side and unable to walk. You will be in a mental asylum by the end of tomorrow."
My breath caught in my throat. The world felt like it lurched sideways.
I spun around to face him, my heart hammering against my ribs like a trapped bird. "You wouldn’t," I breathed, my voice dropping into a desperate, furious whisper. "You wouldn’t! That would hurt your company, not just me! Your pack would be finished! The scandal would ruin you!"
He wouldn’t.
Torin looked at me, and a slow, terrifying smile spread across his face. He actually laughed. This was entertaining him. I was entertaining him.
"You think I care about my pack?" he asked, stepping closer until he was standing right over me, forcing me to tilt my head up to look at him. "Come on, Lorali. Don’t you know me? I don’t care about anyone in this world but myself... and you. I will have you."
A sickening laugh escaped my lips. "You never have me, cause Torin out of everyone one in your miserable pack, I hate you the most."
"I will take that for now," Torin whispered, leaning down slightly, his dark eyes glittering with a terrifying, unhinged warmth. "At least you’re feeling something for me, sugarplum."
I cannot believe this, my mind screamed, panic and rage colliding inside my chest like two freight trains. When the hell did he grow such balls?! Who does he think he is?!
I stared straight into his dark, empty eyes, searching desperately for the lie. I searched for the bluff. He wouldn’t actually do it. Right? He couldn’t! If I came out as a crazy, violent lunatic on the internet, my entire life would be destroyed! There goes my figure skating career! There goes any chance I had of putting Walter in his place and taking back what was mine! My future would be completely incinerated!
He wouldn’t do that to me. Torin loved me. He was obsessed with me. He wouldn’t ruin my life just to control me... would he?
I stared deeper into his pitch-black pupils, and the sickening truth settled heavily in my gut.
He would.
You could never expect anything logical from Torin. He had betrayed his own pack for whom he knew for less than a year. He had betrayed his own mother, for me, not giving a damn I’m the one that put her in a wheelchair. He was entirely capable of destroying me if it meant keeping me locked in his cage. He wasn’t a pathetic puppy anymore. He was a lunatic. Who the heck incepted this change in him, I know he is not capable of this alone. When I find the person, it will not be good."
"You know," I rasped, my jaw grinding as I forced the words past my teeth, "I hate that ’sugarplum’ nickname. And I’m hating more a lot more now."
Torin opened the back door of the sleek black SUV, sweeping his arm out in a mockingly polite gesture.
"Get in the car, Lorali."
I let out a harsh, loud huff, stomping my foot against the hard asphalt, kicking at the loose gravel. I dragged my feet as I walked toward the open door, stepping right up beside him. I stopped right in front of him, leaning in until our noses were almost touching, staring him dead in his dark, unblinking eyes.
"I am going to make you regret this," I whispered. I promise I will make him regret this. I will not let this go unanswered.
Torin didn’t even flinch. He just held the door wider, his expression utterly calm. "I will be waiting," he said softly. "Now stop wasting my time and get in the damn car."
I sneered at him, turning and sliding into the cold leather interior of the backseat.
He is going to regret this, I thought bitterly, staring out the darkened window as he slammed the heavy door shut behind me. This man clearly has no idea who he’s messing with. I’m going to tear his entire world down around his head.
