He kissed me then - soft at first, the same careful pressure as before, giving me time to meet him.

The familiarity of it settled something restless in my chest even as it woke everything else.

His hand rested at the side of my neck, thumb stroking once just under my jaw.

I felt the exact moment my breathing changed, becoming shallower, more conscious of itself.

We shifted gradually, jackets discarded, shoes kicked off, until we were lying facing each other on the narrow bed.

The sheets smelled like him - laundry detergent and the faint trace of his cologne.

Every small movement seemed magnified: the shift of fabric, the warmth of his calf against mine, the way his chest rose and fell a fraction faster than usual.

When his hand slid under the hem of my shirt, palm flat against my stomach, I felt goosebumps rise in a slow wave.

He didn’t hurry. He just rested there, feeling the way my muscles tensed and then gradually loosened under his touch.

My own hand found the front of his shirt, fingers curling into the fabric without quite knowing what they wanted next.

The room had grown quieter somehow, as if the ordinary sounds of the corridor had receded. I could hear my own pulse in my ears.

Kelvin’s gaze held mine for a long moment, checking, waiting. Then he tilted his head and kissed the corner of my mouth, then lower, along my jaw.

The brush of his breath against my skin sent another ripple of awareness through me.

"Still okay?" he murmured against my throat.

"Yes."

His hand drifted lower, slow enough that I had time to anticipate every inch. When he finally cupped me through my jeans the pressure was light.

A small sound escaped me before I could stop it. He smiled against my skin.

We undressed in pieces rather than all at once - shirts first, then the rest, pausing between each layer for more of those unhurried kisses.

By the time there was nothing left between us I felt almost dizzy with the simple fact of being seen.

Kelvin’s body was warm along the entire length of mine. I could feel the steady beat of his heart where our chests touched.

He guided my hand first, the way he had before, teaching without words. The familiar rhythm returned easily this time.

I watched his face while I touched him - the slight parting of his lips, the way his eyelids lowered halfway, the faint flush that rose across his cheekbones.

Knowing I could affect him like that still felt new and powerful and a little overwhelming.

After a while he caught my wrist gently and stilled me.

"Your turn to try something new," he said, voice rougher than usual. "Only if you want."

I wanted. The wanting had been sitting low in my stomach since the phone call weeks ago.

I shifted down the bed carefully, heart hammering so hard I was half-convinced he could hear it.

The position felt strange at first -awkward, exposed. I glanced up. Kelvin was watching me with an expression so open it made my chest ache.

He reached down and brushed his fingers through my hair once, a quiet reassurance.

I started slowly, experimental. The heat of him against my lips was different from anything my hand had prepared me for.

I tried to remember the patience he always used with me - gentle pressure, no rushing. But my nerves made me clumsy.

Almost immediately I felt the unintentional scrape of teeth, just a little too much.

Kelvin’s breath caught sharply. A low, involuntary sound left him - not pleasure. Pain, carefully contained.

I pulled back at once, heat flooding my face.

"I’m sorry... I didn’t mean..."

"It’s okay." His voice was tight but calm. One hand came to rest lightly at the side of my head, not pushing, just present.

"Teeth are sharp. Easy to forget. Let me show you."

He guided me with quiet patience, adjusting the angle of my head with two careful fingers, demonstrating the softer way to use lips and tongue instead.

The correction was gentle, almost tender. I listened with my whole body, hyper-aware of every small instruction, every shift in his breathing that told me I was getting closer to right.

When I tried again the difference was immediate. Kelvin’s hand tightened briefly in my hair, then relaxed.

A different kind of sound left him this time - lower, warmer. The sound traveled straight through me, settling heavy and hot in my stomach.

My own pulse was loud in my ears. I could feel the fine tremor starting in my thighs from holding the position, from the concentration, from the simple intensity of giving something instead of only receiving.

He didn’t rush me. He let me find a rhythm in small increments, pausing whenever I needed to breathe or check his face.

The room seemed to narrow to the space between us: the taste of skin, the careful pressure of my mouth, the way his breathing grew less even the longer I stayed with it.

Every time I glanced up I found him watching me with that same soft, focused expression - like nothing else in the world existed outside this moment.

My own body stayed tightly wound the entire time, aching with unused want, but somehow the waiting felt right. Necessary. I wanted to get this right for him first.

When he finally touched my shoulder and murmured that it was enough for now, his voice had gone rough around the edges.

He drew me back up the bed with careful hands, kissed me deeply, and the heat of his mouth after everything else nearly undid me on its own.

"Was I doing it wrong? Is that why you stopped me?" I asked.

"No no, you were doing just fine" he said with a smile, but something in me found that hard to believe. ’I’ll do better next time,’ I mentally noted to myself.

We stayed close for a long time after that, bodies aligned, breathing gradually slowing.

His fingers traced idle patterns along my spine. Neither of us spoke for a while.

The promise he had made weeks earlier had been kept, but it still felt like the beginning of something rather than any kind of ending.

Outside the window the afternoon had slipped into early evening without either of us noticing.
