Landlord in the Arctic
Chapter 600 - 397: Falling into the Water
Chapter 600: Chapter 397: Falling into the Water
The contestants’ excited shouts cut through the air.
The tigers and Taiga Wolves pulling the sleds tensed every muscle, low growls rumbling in their throats as they jerked the sleds forward and charged.
In an instant, snow flew into the air, the agile forms of the tigers and wolves weaving with the creatively designed sleds to create a dynamic scene.
However, a mishap occurred the moment the race began.
Ma Wei’s sled, an armored vehicle built from sheet metal, resembled a heavy steel fortress.
A Taiga Wolf was giving it its all. Its hind legs dug desperately into the snow, its body rearing up until it was nearly vertical with its front paws dangling in the air. The fur on its neck stood on end as it let out an anxious whine, but the armored sled remained completely motionless, as if rooted to the spot.
The ridiculous sight instantly shattered the tense atmosphere of the race.
The spectators stared, dumbfounded, before erupting into a deafening roar of laughter.
Everyone scrambled to pull out their phones, pointing their cameras at the side-splitting scene to capture the funniest moment of the sled race.
Fiona and Liu Lan’s fairytale castle sled had just crossed the starting line when a great escape of stuffed animals began.
The sled, laden with stuffed toys, shook violently over the bumps. Pink and purple pom-poms and sparkly dolls tumbled out one after another as it swayed.
"Stop! My little kitty fell out!" Liu Lan shrieked. Annoyed, the Prince flicked his tail but obediently halted.
Fiona quickly jumped off the sled, carefully scooping up the snow-dusted doll. She even blew on it gently. "There, there," she said. "Our adventure continues!"
After this happened a few more times, the Prince completely lost his patience.
He let out an irritated growl, and his once-brisk pace slowed to a leisurely stroll. Every few steps, he would deliberately pause just to make another doll fall out.
Then he would cast a scornful sideways glance at the two girls scrambling around in the sled.
Liu Lan stomped her feet in frustration, but she couldn’t bear to blame the Prince. All she could do was stop the sled and urge Fiona to hurry up.
Meanwhile, the Bear Tribe’s *Iron Brown Bear* was also running into trouble.
The imposing giant bear design, so majestic at the start of the race, began to fall apart on the bumpy track.
First, the bear claws, carved from reindeer antlers, fell onto the snow with a CLATTER. Then, the bear legs, made of reindeer hide, started to wobble precariously.
When the bear head, carved from birchwood, went THUMP-THUMP-THUMP as it rolled five meters away, the crowd doubled over in laughter.
The snowy track was littered with a bear head, claws, and legs.
Thankfully, everyone knew it was a creative sled race. Otherwise, you might have thought poachers had dismembered a brown bear.
The Bear Tribe’s craftsmen, faces flushed with embarrassment, chased after the sled to pick up the pieces. They muttered that their tribesman driving the sled was going too fast, which only made the spectators laugh even harder.
Of course, there were some impressive sleds as well.
The starting gun fired, and before the crowd could even react, two dark shapes shot forward like arrows released from a bow.
Feng Shan’s *River Beach* and Natasha’s *Peter the Great* were neck and neck, plowing two deep furrows in the snow.
Tyson and Ivan, the tigers pulling the two sleds, were the strongest in the entire pack.
Their striped fur rippled in the cold wind, a wild light burning in their amber eyes.
Their sharp claws dug rhythmically into the snow, kicking up a spray of powder with every powerful stride.
Natasha leaned casually on her warship-themed sled.
Her black fur cape snapped in the rushing wind, and the whip in her hand cracked sharply.
A confident smirk touched her lips.
Feng Shan, meanwhile, was half-kneeling on the *River Beach*, his ice-blue eyes locked on the path ahead.
Sensing his master’s competitive spirit, Tyson let out a low roar from deep in his throat, and his already steady pace grew even faster.
At first, Feng Shan was just in it for fun, enjoying the thrill of racing across the ice and snow.
But when he caught the fiery desire to win in Natasha’s eyes, his own competitive spirit instantly ignited.
Flicking the reins, he yelled, "We can’t lose this one, buddy!"
Tyson let out a long roar and surged forward, pouring strength into his limbs. He shattered the deadlock, and the *River Beach* shot forward by half a sled’s length.
But Natasha was not one to admit defeat.
With a sharp cry, her leather whip drew a graceful arc through the air.
Ivan, pulling the *Peter the Great*, suddenly accelerated, his body grazing the *River Beach* as he shot past.
The two sleds raced along the winding track, a flurry of snow flying up in their wake.
In the minus-thirty-degree air, the rapid breaths of Feng Shan and Natasha condensed into frost, but it couldn’t conceal the fire burning in their eyes.
As the former leader of the Tiger Pack, a fire of vengeance burned in Ivan’s amber eyes.
He arched his streamlined back, his claws nearly grazing Tyson’s raised tail as he passed.
White mist plumed with every breath of the majestic Siberian Tiger. An oppressive grunt rumbled in his chest, as if declaring that he would reclaim the throne that had been stolen from him.
Feng Shan’s fur coat snapped in the wind as he gripped the reins tightly with one hand. "Hold steady! Don’t let him pass!"
The words were barely out of his mouth when the *Peter the Great* used the curve of the bend to suddenly accelerate.
The metal icebreaker on its bow scraped past the *River Beach*, the sound of splintering ice cracking through the air.
Thoroughly enraged by the provocation, Tyson’s tail swept out like a steel whip. He leaped half a meter into the air, and upon landing, forcefully reclaimed his lead.
Ivan shook his head in frustration, pulling the harness on his neck taut.
As the former leader of the Tiger Pack, he’d been holding a grudge for a while. He had lost his leadership position because Tyson had aligned with Feng Shan.
’Who could ever accept something like that?’
That was why Ivan had volunteered when Natasha requested a tiger to pull her sled.
The two tigers were perfectly matched.
Ivan used his agility to accelerate sharply on the curves, instantly closing the distance. Tyson, however, would use his explosive power to sprint furiously down the straightaways, pulling ahead once more.
