Chapter 615: Chapter 404: Reception

The last rays of the setting sun cast a golden glow across the hotel’s marble floor.

Just as everyone was craning their necks in anticipation.

A black Mercedes van slowly pulled into the hotel parking lot.

Zhang Kai recognized his car at a glance. The corners of his mouth turned up involuntarily as he said excitedly, "Brother Feng is here!"

They quickly straightened their clothes and hurried forward to greet him.

The Mercedes van came to a steady stop at the hotel entrance. The door opened, and Feng Mountain stepped out with a smile, holding the sleek-furred Coca-Cola in his arms.

"Brother Kai!" Feng Mountain’s voice was hearty and warm. He then turned to Su Yang. "Brother Su, long time no see!"

Su Yang walked forward, beaming, and clapped Feng Mountain on the shoulder. "You rascal," he said warmly, "you came back to the country without saying a word, all secretive-like. If Xiaokai hadn’t told me, I’d still be in the dark. You’ll have to take a penalty drink for that later!"

"I came back to handle a few things and didn’t want to cause a stir," Feng Mountain replied with a modest smile.

His gaze then shifted to Su Ziweng and Eldest Young Master Xu, who were standing awkwardly to the side. Feigning great surprise, he acted as if he had only just noticed them.

"Well, well, if it isn’t Eldest Young Master Su and Eldest Young Master Xu. We haven’t seen each other since the Crown Territory. I never thought we’d run into each other back home. What a coincidence!"

"Brother Feng, as soon as I heard you were back, I flew over from Singapore overnight," Eldest Young Master Xu explained hastily, an awkward expression on his face.

Su Ziweng chimed in, nodding repeatedly. "Yes, yes! The moment we heard you were back, we rushed to catch a flight without even sleeping."

"Not bad, you even know how to use idioms now," Feng Mountain teased, a slight smile on his lips. He didn’t poke any more fun at the two rich young men.

Led by Zhang Kai, the group entered the hotel’s magnificent lobby.

The lobby was brilliantly lit, crystal chandeliers casting a soft, dazzling glow. Its marble walls and floors were polished like mirrors. A faint scent of perfume and the sound of soothing music filled the air, creating an atmosphere of pure luxury and elegance.

The group stepped into an elevator. As it ascended, the numbers blinked past, taking them directly to the rooftop sky garden.

Guided by a server.

They stepped into a luxuriously decorated private suite.

The vast glass curtain walls glittered in the twilight, like giant mirrors perfectly reflecting both the bustling city streets and the vast expanse of the sea.

The dazzling city lights and the shimmering surface of the sea intertwined, seeming to gather all of Hai City’s vitality and charm into an embrace. It gave one the marvelous sensation of standing in the clouds, looking down upon the world.

"To host this welcome banquet for you, Brother Yang had to call in a favor just to book this suite," Zhang Kai remarked casually from the side.

Su Yang waved his hand, feigning annoyance. "Brother Feng hosted us back in the Crown Territory. Now that he’s home, it’s my turn to treat him. What’s one private suite? It’s nothing."

Seeing the two of them play off each other like that, Feng Mountain just smiled without saying a word.

Hearing the voices, Xiaohua and the two men with her hurried out from the lounge. The moment she saw Feng Mountain, her face lit up with a joyous smile, and she rushed to greet him.

"Brother, you’re here!"

Xiaohua, looking like a petulant child, looped her arm affectionately through Feng Mountain’s. "I wanted to pick you up, too," she pouted, a wronged look in her eyes, "but Brother Kai said it would be inconvenient with my big belly and just had Hu Zi and Black Hide stay with me."

Her voice, soft and whiny, was a playful complaint meant to convey her dissatisfaction to Feng Mountain.

"He was right. You’re about to be a mother, but you still act like a little tomboy." Feng Mountain’s lips curved into a smile, his eyes filled with adoration as he gave Xiaohua an affectionate pat on the head.

"Now that everyone’s here, let’s take our seats!" Zhang Kai said, beaming, as he enthusiastically ushered the group into the dining room.

In the dining room, a massive mahogany table occupied the central space.

It was large enough to seat thirty people.

Yet now, with just their small group seated around it, the table felt exceptionally empty.

The vast tabletop was like a stretch of the Far North Tundra, with a great distance separating each person from the next.

As Feng Mountain sat in his chair, a vague sense of discomfort washed over him.

’I’ve never liked this kind of dining atmosphere,’ Feng Mountain thought. ’Close friends should be squeezed in together, chatting and laughing up a storm. That’s what makes a gathering feel warm and lively.’

’But this? We’re so far apart we practically have to shout, and even then, you have to worry if the other person can hear you. It’s just awkward. The whole thing feels wrong.’

Nearby, Su Yang had been quietly observing Feng Mountain and keenly noticed his discomfort.

He even noticed that when Feng Mountain was talking with his younger companions, he had a habit of leaning to one side as if trying to get closer.

An idea suddenly struck Su Yang. A gentle smile spreading across his face, he stood up and said in a hearty voice,

"There’s only a handful of us; we don’t need a table this big. I saw a mahjong table in the recreation room next door. Why don’t we use a smaller table? It’ll be more lively if we’re all sitting closer together."

Hearing this, Zhang Kai was momentarily stunned, a puzzled look on his face. But he quickly caught on, his eyes lighting up as he nodded repeatedly in agreement.

"Brother Su is right. We’re all friends here; no need for a table this big. You have to raise your voice just to talk—what a pain. I’ll go get a server and have them bring a small table over right away."

With that, Zhang Kai called over the suite’s service manager.

He briefly explained that they wanted to change tables.

The service manager raised an eyebrow slightly, his gaze sweeping over the group with a flicker of confusion.
