Landlord in the Arctic
Chapter 698: Arrived Home
“Erica, did you let Jenny know?” Demi asked, looking up slightly, her gaze landing on the clock on the wall.
Erica frowned, her tone laced with agitation. “I told her half an hour ago. What’s taking her so long?”
Nearby, Tammy pouted and complained, “Maybe she overslept. I said I’d go to the cabin to get them, but you all wouldn’t let me.”
“Save it, you little vixen! Cut the act!”
Erica shot Tammy a sideways glance and said irritably, her eyes filled with mock anger.
“You’re the best actress in camp,” Erica continued to chide, lowering her voice so only the two of them could hear. “That night in the cabin, you had a hand in getting Feng drunk, you were part of it, and in the end, you were the one who played innocent and let me take the blame.”
The more Erica spoke, the angrier she became, her chest heaving.
Having been called out,
a flash of embarrassment crossed Tammy’s face, but she quickly recovered.
She discreetly gave Erica an international gesture, the movement subtle yet provocative.
Seeing this, Erica’s eyebrows shot up.
She then interlocked her fingers, squeezed hard until her knuckles cracked, and looked as if she was ready for a fight.
She intended to teach Tammy a lesson and show her the consequences of selling her out.
“Just you wait, you little vixen. I’ll deal with you.”
“Bring it on!” Tammy, not the least bit afraid, ducked behind Demi, who was enjoying the show, and continued her taunts.
The dining hall’s previously lively atmosphere.
Was broken by their small conflict, which drew curious glances from those around them.
At that moment,
The dining hall door was gently pushed open, and Feng Mountain and Jenny walked in hand-in-hand.
Everyone’s attention was instantly drawn to them, and they noticed something was a little off about the pair.
The boss looked composed, a faint smile on his lips.
Jenny, on the other hand, looked a bit drained. Her cheeks were faintly flushed, like the clouds at sunset—gorgeous, yet shy.
The dazed look in her eyes hadn’t faded, and her gaze held a trace of languor and intoxication.
Not only that, but her gait wasn’t quite normal either; her steps were slightly slow and unnatural.
Most of the people present were experienced adults. Seeing this, they immediately understood.
They all shared a tacit understanding, upholding the unspoken rule among good friends that some things are better left unsaid, and chose to remain silent.
“The boss is here! Let the party begin!” Demi, the life of the party, reacted in a flash. She had noticed the couple’s condition at a glance, and to break the awkward tension, she quickly set off the party popper in her hand.
BANG!!
After the sharp sound,
A flurry of multicolored confetti fluttered toward the dining hall ceiling like snowflakes,
shimmering with a captivating glow in the light.
The others scrambled to turn on the music and set off more party poppers.
Upbeat music began to play, its strong rhythm echoing through the dining hall.
Party poppers went off one after another, sending more colorful confetti drifting down.
The entire dining hall seemed to transform into a world of joy.
…..
The first party of 2018 in the Crown Territory had officially begun.
In the United States, party culture is deeply ingrained, and people have an almost fanatical passion for parties.
All kinds of parties are held for any number of reasons.
Given any opportunity, a party is sure to be thrown. It has seeped into their very blood, becoming an indispensable part of life.
Family backyard parties, garage sale parties, dorm parties, apartment parties….
The variety of parties is endless.
Even a lavish spread of food and drinks isn’t a requirement.
A few bottles of beer and a few bags of potato chips are all it takes to ignite a lively gathering.
As the locals often say,
A party isn’t about showing off how big your house is, but about letting your neighbors know that your door is always open for a smiling face.
This passion for life and emphasis on neighborly relationships is on full display at every party.
At this moment, at the Crown Territory party, blasting music pounded against everyone’s eardrums.
In the center of the makeshift dance floor,
someone held a beer bottle high.
They twisted their body to the rhythm of the music, their energetic moves threatening to push the entire party to its climax.
Splashing alcohol glittered under the lights.
And to the side of the dance floor,
people gathered in small groups, excitedly chatting about all the interesting things that had happened during their trips home.
Now bursting into laughter, now lowering their voices to a whisper, they shared their stories.
The heartwarming scene was a testament to the sincere friendship between them.
Still others were attacking the food,
feasting with great relish and enjoying the satisfaction it brought.
The entire party was a symphony of laughter and music. The collision of warm and cold air completely drove away the chill of the polar night.
A happy smile graced everyone’s face,
letting warmth and joy fill every corner.
「The next morning.」
Outside, the polar night continued.
As usual, his biological clock woke Feng Mountain up right on time.
His consciousness gradually returned from a deep sleep, his head still a bit groggy.
The party last night had gone on late, but Feng Mountain didn’t have the stamina to keep up with the hard-partying foreigners.
If he had tried to keep up with them, their enthusiasm would have kept them going long past midnight without a break.
So, about halfway through the party,
Feng Mountain had quietly taken Jenny back to the cabin, closed the door, and ‘teamed up for duo queue’.
Now, Feng Mountain gently moved Jenny’s arm from across his body, trying not to make a sound for fear of waking the sleeping beauty beside him.
Then, he slipped out of bed, took his workout clothes from the closet, and changed.
“Feng!” Just as he was about to leave, Jenny’s lazy voice called out softly, filled with the grogginess and tenderness of someone just waking up.
“You worked hard last night. Go back to sleep. I’m going for a run.”
Hearing her voice, Feng Mountain turned and walked to the side of the bed.
He looked at Jenny, a true sleeping beauty.
Her hair was scattered across the pillow in a beautiful mess, her fair face still faintly flushed.
Feng Mountain’s heart instantly softened. He leaned down, kissed Jenny gently on the forehead with deep affection, and whispered, “Don’t get up. Sleep in. I’ll make breakfast and bring it to you.”
“Mmm.”
Jenny’s beautiful eyes opened slightly, filled with love as she gazed affectionately at the man opening the door to leave.
‘No matter how I look at him, it’s hard to connect him with how wild he was last night.’
‘Beneath that humble and gentle exterior, he hides such a passionate side, like an untamable beast.’
Last night’s frenzy replayed endlessly in her mind.
Jenny felt as if she had become a Lego set, taken apart piece by piece and then reassembled in a storm of passion.
‘That experience was both frightening and intoxicating.’
Stepping out of the cabin,
The biting early-morning cold brushed against his face, its chill piercing his skin and making Feng Mountain shiver involuntarily.
He subconsciously exhaled, his breath forming a white cloud that slowly dissipated into the freezing air.
AWOO!
Hearing the noise, Tyson ambled out of his warm den.
As soon as he saw it was his dad, he grew excited and trotted over, affectionately rubbing his big head against Feng Mountain with a low rumble in his throat.
Feng Mountain smiled and patted Tyson’s head. “You don’t have to come, I’m going for a run! You stay here and be good,” he said softly.
Tyson seemed to understand his dad’s words.
He obediently stopped, but his eyes remained fixed on his dad, watching his retreating figure.
Then, Feng Mountain started jogging out of the garden and began his morning run along the riverbank.
The riverbank was quiet and peaceful in the early morning. The water murmured as it flowed, its surface rippling and shimmering in the faint light.
He drew mouthfuls of the crisp, cold air into his lungs.
A thread of coolness spread from his airways throughout his body, making him feel more refreshed, as if every cell was waking up in the frigid air.
Before long, Paine appeared by his side.
Speaking of Paine, when Jenny and the others had been in danger a few days prior, he had been heading home for the holidays. Upon receiving the news, he immediately demanded to join the rescue mission.
However, at the time, Ma Wei had been sent to Lengwan to protect Natasha, and Yves had to lead a team to Montana, leaving a gap in the camp’s security.
With no other choice,
Paine had to turn back halfway and hurry back to the Crown Territory.
Being unable to participate in the rescue of Jenny and the others weighed on his conscience like a stone, and he couldn’t let it go.
During the party last night, he had even made a point of finding Jenny and the others to offer a sincere apology.
