Landlord in the Arctic

Chapter 709: Stay

  • Next Chapter

After a boisterous night.

The dim light of the polar night’s morning trickled through the gap in the curtains, silently spilling onto the bedroom floor.

Feng Shan gently lifted Jenny’s arm from across his body. His movements were soft, afraid of disturbing the beautiful woman still sleeping soundly beside him.

He quietly got out of bed, preparing to change and go for his morning workout.

AWOOO!

Just then, a small, furry head suddenly popped out from under the blanket.

Seeing that Feng Shan was about to leave, it quickly scrambled out from the warm blanket, letting out a high-pitched, anxious cry.

“Mira, go back to sleep. I’m going for a run!”

Last night, Feng Shan had used the Beast Taming Technique on the little snow leopard and given it the Russian name “Mira”.

Mira could now roughly understand the meaning of Feng Shan’s words, but she stubbornly insisted on going with him.

Her little paws scrabbled at the blanket as she struggled to crawl toward Feng Shan.

“Mira, come here. Come to Mommy!”

Jenny also began to stir, sitting up lazily. The blanket slid down with the movement, perfectly outlining her alluring curves.

She then held out her hand and beckoned gently to Mira, her voice soft and languid from just waking up.

Mira hesitated, looking at Feng Shan, then back at Jenny. In the end, she waddled toward Jenny on her short, shaky legs.

She burrowed into Jenny’s arms, found a comfortable spot, and went right back to sleep.

Jenny gently stroked Mira’s back, a blissful smile on her face as she looked down at the adorable cub.

At that moment, Feng Shan’s gaze inevitably shifted from Mira to Jenny.

Feeling his scorching gaze, a blush instantly crept onto Jenny’s face. She instinctively grabbed the blanket to cover herself, as if that could hide her shyness.

Then, she shot a glare back at a certain someone.

The look held a trace of feigned anger, but it was mostly an undisguisable coyness.

Feng Shan felt a little embarrassed by her glance.

He rubbed his nose sheepishly, a slightly awkward smile on his face.

“I’m going for my run. I have a lot to do today, so I’ll grab breakfast at the mess hall. Please keep an eye on Teacher Lucy for me. If she needs anything, just let me know later.”

“Okay.”

Jenny replied softly, holding Mira.

The little one was still squirming restlessly in her arms, even in its sleep.

She gently patted Mira, snuggled back under the warm blanket with just her head poking out, and watched Feng Shan’s retreating back as he got up and left.

He stepped out of the cabin.

He took a breath of the fresh, crisp air and felt instantly invigorated.

He did a few stretches on the spot, loosening his muscles and joints.

Then he set off at a jog, heading down the gravel path toward the river.

A group of familiar figures had already gathered by the river.

Yves, Paine, Gunpowder…

They were chatting enthusiastically in low voices, and all looked over when they saw Feng Shan approaching.

The Crown Territory wasn’t that big to begin with.

It didn’t take long for everyone to find out about even the smallest things.

The welcome party last night had only reached its midpoint when everyone saw the boss and Jenny sneak away together.

As for what they were doing?

Every adult knew.

Bat had a mischievous grin on his face as he deliberately teased him.

“Boss, you’re late! Why don’t you take a day off? Let your body recover a bit.”

The others all burst out laughing, their laughter echoing by the river and shattering the morning tranquility.

“Bullshit, I could take on ten of you,” Feng Shan said with a laugh, shooting them a look. It was one of feigned anger, but it mostly conveyed the closeness between them.

He then pulled a bill out of his pocket and waved it in his hand.

“Everyone puts in 10 US Dollars. Winner of a five-lap race gets the pot. Go!”

Without giving the others a chance to think, Feng Shan shot off, taking the lead.

The veterans were stunned for a moment.

It was just a 10 US Dollar bet.

Who would have thought the boss would cheat and take a head start?

The veterans finally reacted and chased after him, shouting.

In an instant, along the banks of the Melting Ice River…

A group of men, with an average age of over 30, were shouting and chasing each other as if they were teenagers again.

The scene was pure chaos.

Some even resorted to dirty tricks: one guy pulled an opponent when he wasn’t looking, another tried to pull someone’s pants down, and one even used a vulgar move like “Monkey Steals the Peach.”

The commotion attracted the attention of the camp’s staff, who came out of the mess hall and bar.

They cheered them on while also bursting into laughter at the ridiculous sight.

The rising and falling cheers and laughter shattered the morning tranquility of the Tundra.

The new members of the Crown Territory were also woken up by the noise.

Gruus sat up in bed, rubbing his bleary eyes and looking out the window in a daze.

Diego mumbled a few complaints while hugging his pillow, then rolled over, wanting to go back to sleep.

Lucy, dressed in her pajamas, pulled open the curtains. Seeing the lively scene by the river, she was infected by the cheerful atmosphere, and a reassuring smile graced her lips.

Mova, meanwhile, walked bleary-eyed out of her cabin. The cool morning breeze on her face instantly cleared her not-yet-working brain.

She looked in the direction of the noise.

Her eyes flashed with surprise as she saw the boss running and laughing with a group of burly men.

The sight took Mova aback.

In her previous experience working on the Petroleum, people as wealthy as Feng Shan tended to keep a certain distance from regular employees.

But the scene before her was completely different. There was no barrier between the boss and his employees; they were chasing and roughhousing with each other, laughing constantly.

This equal and harmonious way of interacting made a warm feeling well up inside Mova.

She also felt a growing fondness for this place, the Crown Territory.

「Five laps later…」
