Chapter 483: Chapter 483: The Greek Empire Shook, A Brand New Pantheon

Chapter 483 – The Greek Empire Shook, A Brand New Pantheon

[The Greek Empire has lost one of its Main Goddesses.]

Cassius still couldn’t believe it, despite reading the notification so many times.

He had added the First Option only for the sake of it, expecting Persephone to choose either the second or the third option.

Those two carried far fewer consequences than outright leaving the Pantheon she had belonged to since the very beginning.

’For a pair of underwear? No way.’ He shook his head. ’What kind of things had Adonis, or should I say ’I’ at this point, done to make a goddess so obsessed with a pair of underwear?’

[This woman really left her Pantheon,] Marvela hissed in open displeasure, seeing the notification panel. [I can’t say I am surprised, but... argh.]

[This is getting interesting!] Tysche cackled, while Ananke said nothing, choosing to be a silent observer.

Cassius’s comrades were still waiting for him to use the Pantheon Ticket, perplexed by what had suddenly stopped him in his tracks.

The air was still soaked with power, and they were feeling increasingly uncomfortable under the pressure.

It was a given.

A Ticket with the function of creating a literal Pantheon was nothing mundane. And the mere residual aura whispering out of it was enough to tighten the souls of those around it.

Cassius, however, was more than fine.

Whether it was because he was the master of the Ticket or for some hidden reason regarding his soul... none could tell, and he himself didn’t care.

His current situation required more of his attention; the notification panels were not over yet.

[The Greek Empire is weakening. The gods are roaring in anger and disbelief, unable to comprehend the actions of Persephone, the Reluctant Queen.]

[The very Empire that has stood strong since the beginning of the Age of the Third Revelation is now facing its second major setback following the Death of Hades. Its foundations, once thought unshakable, are being wonderfully shaken to their very core.]

[You have won the first true victory against the Hero Path in the eyes of the World, Cassius Desdemona.]

[The Villain Path is stirring, recognizing in this event the prelude to something delightfully sinister.]

[And for bringing all of this about, Last Born of the Desdemona, you have earned your rewards.]

The notifications piled atop each other in quick succession, giving Cassius barely enough time to truly grasp what he had achieved.

But he did understand, and his lips slowly curled into a smile. Because finally, Cassius was beginning to accomplish things that had real consequences for the gods themselves, especially those belonging to the Hero Path.

’This is... this is only the beginning. I know what my goals are now.’ His eyes sharpened like an unsheathed blade. ’So no more tiptoeing around, dear gods. From now on, I’ll make sure to exploit the Third Law to its fullest.’

Truly, Desdemona knew why she had made this Law.

His thoughts were interrupted by another notification, this one for his rewards.

He blinked, raising his hand towards his companions to show them that everything was fine, and looked at his new, unexpected gains.

[Rewards: Underworld’s Travel Permit (Unlimited); Red Gloves of the Fallen (Custom Made For You).]

Cassius was pleasantly surprised by the rewards. They looked simple on the surface, but he knew they were not.

The very fact that he could travel to the Underworld without limit was already something that could prove very helpful.

Especially considering that his own wife was Blessed by It, and would inevitably find herself there at some point.

The second reward was unexpected, and the Last Born had yet to see its real effect. But a new pair of gloves was welcome.

Who didn’t like nice, beautiful things? Free ones, at that.

’With the crimson earring my grandmother gave me... I think the world has chosen a color for me.’

Cassius allowed a smile to grace his lips. But he didn’t linger too long on the rewards, knowing there were still things left to do.

DING!

[Since your identity was concealed when you sent the Couriel, no one knows that you are the one responsible for this upheaval in the divine world. Which also means that the Reluctant Queen has no way of reaching you except through us.]

The System paused once again, as though catching its breath, or perhaps simply giving Cassius a moment to digest its words, before finally continuing.

[The Reluctant Queen, Persephone, wishes to invite you into her Gate of Howling Demons.]

[Do you accept?]

Cassius shook his head at once. Accepting meant having to deal with Persephone right away. And he didn’t believe he had, for the time being, the energy to engage in another divine confrontation after Blanche.

So he refused the invitation and gave his own answer, one that suited his current situation.

’I refuse,’ Cassius replied. ’But I will see her soon, once she accepts the invitation to join the Pantheon I am about to create. That’s all.’

Mother System relayed the message back to Persephone without any comment.

Cassius didn’t wait any longer.

He grasped the Pantheon Ticket tighter and looked at his sect comrades, at his friends and his wife, before smiling.

"Sorry for the delay," he said to them. "We’ve had an unexpected, last-minute addition to the creation of this Pantheon. Now, I believe we can properly begin. Brace yourselves, though, because I have absolutely no idea what’s going to happen next."

The Last Born then drew in a deep breath, before finally activating the Ticket with his own Essence.

A brilliant golden-white color bloomed in his hand, spraying across the world around him like condensed paint splashed onto a blackboard.

The brightness was such that Cassius himself feared everyone in the kingdom would see it.

But it was a useless worry.

The moment the Ticket was activated, the space within a radius of a kilometer was technically, in the most fundamental sense of the term, no longer in the mortal physical world.

The Ticket had plucked that space out and placed it in another dimension, while making it look to outside eyes as though nothing had changed.

That shift caused Diaila and Sarah to drop to their knees, their bodies sinking inward, feeling as though someone had put two adult dragons on their backs and told them to run with them.

William was struggling to stand, his back slightly slouched. But his knees didn’t touch the ground.

Only Isolde and Meadow were standing straight, as if nothing had happened. And yet, a clear eye could see a faint touch of discomfort in how tightly their lips were pressed.

Meadow then helped Sarah stand up, coating her with her essence.

She left Diaila kneeling.

Cassius was struck even harder by the pressure, but he neither buckled nor yielded to it.

He stood tall and straight, his eyes transfixed on the Ticket, which had now transformed into a wide, long golden tablet, so heavy that the veins in his hand were bulging out.

He winced, his jaw tight.

DING!

[You have activated the Pantheon Ticket. A Pantheon can now be created if you have three gods ready to join.]

[Who are the gods participating in this New Pantheon’s Creation?]

Cassius replied quickly, his voice oddly echoing all around, heard by all. "The gods are as follows: [Lady Who Reads the End], Ananke; [One Who Wields Good Luck], Tysche; [Sleeping Beauty of the Eternal Kingdom], Marvela; and finally..."

’There is more?’ Isolde wondered, arching an eyebrow. But then she suddenly understood, recalling what Cassius had told her after coming back from the Sun.

And indeed,

"...[The Reluctant Queen of the Underworld], Persephone."

The world paused.

The air tightened like a man waking up with a cramp in his leg — crippling, tense, and so painful that the chests of the Fallen Sect members clenched like fists.

Cassius thought Mother System was taking time to process his words.

But in reality, what Mother System was doing was simply sending the invitation to each of the goddesses whose names the Last Born had called.

An invitation to join a new, yet unnamed Pantheon.

After sending those invitations, Mother System waited, but it never had to wait for long.

The goddesses were eager, and that could be seen on the Golden Tablet in Cassius’s right hand at that moment.

For soon enough, a name was inscribed on the tablet.

It was Ananke, Owner of the Gate of Fate and Secrecy. It was written in silver threads, yet the moment it was inscribed, it became hidden.

[Lady Ananke has accepted your Invitation,] Mother System declared.

The air hummed with GeumGeum. Cassius began to sweat.

A second name appeared seconds later: Tysche, Lady of the Gate of Luck and Fortune. This time, the name was written in gold, bright and twinkling like the sun shining on a golden coin.

[Lady Tysche has accepted your invitation.]

The Golden Tablet was now growing heavier, with two goddesses’ names inscribed on it.

Cassius winced and ground his teeth hard before holding the Tablet with both hands. It barely helped.

Three seconds later, a third name appeared: Marvela, Beauty of the Gate of the Dreamless Unending Kingdom, her name stamped fast and elusive... like a dream never meant to be fully witnessed.

[Lady Marvela has accepted your invitation.]

’Queen’s breath!’ Cassius cursed, and inevitably fell to his knees. The Golden Tablet felt as though the weight of three heavens were sealed inside it.

His hands began to crack, blood seeping out in cascades. But he kept them usable by continuously healing them with his plasma.

Cassius said nothing then except a few grunts, knowing that it was only normal.

After all, he was holding in his hands the weight of the names of three goddesses. Knowing the power Names held in this world, the very fact that his hands hadn’t exploded was a wonder.

But then a fourth name appeared on the Golden Tablet, and the Last Born looked at it with a faint, suddenly tired smile: Persephone, Queen of the Gate of Howling Demons, written in bold crimson, with what looked like blood dripping from each letter.

[Lady Persephone has accepted your invitation.]

At this point, Cassius could no longer feel his arms at all.

Yet he was smiling, knowing that it had finally come to an end.

DING!

[All the Goddesses have accepted your invitation.]

[All the Conditions have been fulfilled. The creation of the Pantheon is 80% complete. Only one thing remains for the Pantheon to be fully recognized in the Eyes of the Divine.]

[What is the name of this Pantheon?]

Cassius didn’t even need to think about this question.

He had already discussed it with his goddesses, and the name they had finally come up with, after bickering and arguing for so long, was...

"The Last House."
