Chapter 411: The Whole World Is Against Me

  • Next Chapter

They were a group of dark wizards with goals, ideals, and ambition.

Unlike the usual scum who merely kidnapped a Muggle for experiments, or those who pursued magic purely for its destructive power, everything they did was for one purpose—overthrowing the school they believed had long since rotted from within.

And so... they utterly failed.

To be precise, their carefully planned operation didn’t even interrupt the students’ Quidditch celebration. Compared to that, even soccer hooligans might have done a better job.

As Allen watched them being escorted away, one wizard managed to tear the gag from his mouth. A cruel smile spread across his face as he locked eyes with Allen and spoke rapidly—fast, yet clear enough to be understood:

"Fiendfyre is an extremely dangerous spell, classified as Dark Magic across all magical societies. But its power is immense. The incantation is..."

He went on at length, even weaving in the pronunciation of the spell and its fundamental principles. Though crude, anyone following his explanation could undoubtedly learn this dark magic.

The wizard’s face twisted with vicious satisfaction.

Even if I die, I’ll drag someone down with me...

And there are two of them—perfect. Worth it.

Forbidden magic—even overhearing it was a crime. Let alone attempting to practice it.

You think you’re so capable? Let’s see if you can protect these two students now!

He grinned madly—

Until the young boy he had targeted simply asked, calmly:

"Mm, I’ve memorized it, sir. So... how do you extinguish Fiendfyre?"

The laughter stopped abruptly.

His smile froze.

That... was not the reaction he expected.

Still, habit from countless group discussions kicked in, and he answered instinctively. He even received a polite "thank you." Then came another question.

Before he could respond, the gag was shoved back into his mouth. At the same time, Allen earned a sharp glare from his professor.

Only then did the bound wizard remember his situation. Struggling desperately, he managed to loosen the cloth with his tongue and shouted:

"Catch him! He’s a dark wizard too! He just learned Fiendfyre from me!"

Smack!

Another strip of cloth sealed his mouth—this time even tighter.

Pomona Sprout added an extra layer for good measure before turning to Allen.

"You students with a bit of talent always like to dabble in dark magic," she said. "But don’t go too far. Some dark spells can harm the soul. And if you ever practice, do it in an open area—no flammable materials nearby—and always under supervision. Understood?"

"Understood, Professor. I was just experimenting out of curiosity. I won’t go too deep into it."

"Good. The match isn’t over yet. Why don’t you go watch it with the others? You came all this way, after all."

Allen nodded obediently, looking every bit the model student.

Meanwhile, the bound wizard went through a cascade of emotions—shock, fear, disbelief—and finally, frantic struggle.

He glared at Allen and Professor Sprout, then turned his furious gaze toward the others.

Are you all deaf?! They were openly discussing dark magic! That kid is a real dark wizard!

But in the eyes of the surrounding wizards, there was envy, admiration—even resentment.

Anything but the intent to arrest a criminal.

They had all seen Allen handle multiple enemies earlier. And judging by the way Professor Sprout treated him...

It was obvious—this was the kind of student a professor personally mentored.

Who wouldn’t be jealous?

As for arresting him?

What a joke.

The rules were set by the Ministry—not the professors.

While large-scale teaching of dark magic was restricted, privately guiding one or two students was practically an open secret. Someone like Allen was unofficially acknowledged.

If the rules were strictly enforced, someone like Severus Snape—who invented spells like Sectumsempra in his sixth year—would have rotted in Azkaban long ago.

Even if Professor Sprout wasn’t skilled in dark magic herself, giving her talented student a bit of extra guidance wasn’t something anyone could object to.

And even if they did—

They probably couldn’t beat Allen anyway.

And so, in utter despair, the dark wizard was dragged away.

If he had merely been a dark wizard, a year in prison might have sufficed.

But plotting to blow up a school?

That was another matter entirely.

Allen wasn’t sure whether Japan’s wizarding world had the death penalty—but if it did, the leader was definitely qualified for it. As for this one... maybe a lighter sentence.

Since they were already back, and going out again seemed pointless, Allen and Annie decided to watch the match—Slytherin versus Gryffindor.

A showdown between Draco Malfoy and Harry Potter.

Their fated rivalry... definitely worth watching.

But just as they made their decision and started toward the field—

A roar of cheers erupted.

The lion emblem of Gryffindor soared high in the sky, conjured by magic.

There was no doubt—

Gryffindor had won.

My teeth hurt...

It wasn’t that Allen had anything against Gryffindor.

He just had a growing suspicion—

Did I have some kind of bad luck today?

He had finally found a cult base—only for it to explode.

He rushed back to save people—only to find the school had already captured everyone.

He wanted to watch a match—only for it to end the moment he thought about it.

What did I even do wrong?

Why does it feel like the whole world is targeting me?

Considering that running into more people might only make things worse, Allen turned to Annie.

"Still want to go out? We could go camping."

But Annie suddenly blushed.

"Sorry, brother... I’m not feeling well. I’ll head back and rest. Maybe another time."

Before Allen could ask more, she hurried off, leaving him standing alone in the cold wind.

Then—

Realization struck.

Right. Nothing is going right today.

With a bitter smile, Allen concealed himself. He decided to avoid everyone entirely.

If I’m unlucky today, I’ll just stay out of trouble.

It wasn’t that he didn’t want to spend time with his classmates—

It was just that today, his luck was so terrible that who knew what might happen next?

If I can’t deal with it... I can at least avoid it.

Invisible, Allen headed straight for his tent, planning to spend the day quietly reading.

But just as he neared the entrance—

A Stunning Spell shot toward his back.

He dodged instantly and fired a counterspell before turning around.

Did one slip through the net?

No.

It was a seventh-year prefect from Hufflepuff.

The student scratched his head awkwardly. Allen, in a bad mood, had kicked up some leaves—alerting him while he was lying in wait for any stragglers. And so, the spell had been cast.

They stared at each other.

Allen shrugged, let out a long sigh—

And said nothing.

He simply left the prefect there.
