Chapter 680 - 298: Perfect Yacht (Part 2)

  • Next Chapter

Standing on the swim platform at the stern, there are stairs on both sides that lead up to the main deck.

If you don’t go up, walking forward takes you to the yacht’s engine room and the cabins for the captain and the first mate.

Right now Gao Tiande was really curious about Li Younan’s yacht. After thinking for a moment, he asked, "Can you take me to see the core area of this boat? I’m very interested."

Li Younan said casually, "Of course."

For Li Younan, this boat wasn’t on some classified mission. Apart from the crew cabins being private space, every other area on board could be shown to outsiders, it didn’t matter.

So Li Younan invited Gao Tiande into the middle section of the lower deck.

This was the boat’s engine room, a full 50 square meters, with fuel tanks on both sides having a total capacity of over 120 cubic meters.

Then Li Younan took Gao Tiande to see his fresh water tanks. Together with two backup storage tanks, there was a total of 40 cubic meters of volume, able to hold 40 tons of water.

Out at sea, fresh water is extremely important; you can almost say fresh water determines how long you can stay on the ocean.

Coming out of the engine room, the cabins on both sides were the captain’s and first mate’s bedrooms.

Because the first voyage hadn’t officially started yet, strictly speaking these two rooms didn’t count as crew private space for now. So Li Younan very straightforwardly opened them up to show Gao Tiande the two most important crew cabins.

The captain’s room was nominally called the captain’s cabin, but in reality Li Younan had no intention of living here.

Later he could let the first mate and Old Chen live in these two cabins.

Even though they were crew cabins, the layout of these two rooms was very complete and rational. Each room had its own bathroom; the floor area wasn’t huge, but there was still a 1.5‑meter double bed, a separate desk, a wardrobe and other storage space. The rooms weren’t low either, with a height of 1.9 meters.

But as crew cabins, of course they didn’t have the big sea‑view windows like the master bedroom upstairs.

Gao Tiande looked around these two rooms with great interest. The two rooms had perfectly symmetrical layouts, exactly the same, with no better or worse between them.

When Li Younan thought about having Old Chen live in one of these cabins, the main reason was that it had direct access to the engine room, making it convenient for Old Chen to inspect and maintain the machinery in the engine room.

As for having a sea view or not, Old Chen really didn’t care. After drifting on the ocean for so many years, he’d seen every kind of sea view and was already sick of it.

The en‑suite bathroom and exhaust ductwork in this cabin were all done extremely well, much better than what he’d lived in before.

Although it was close to the engine room, the soundproofing was excellent and wouldn’t affect the rest in those two cabins.

These two rooms were relatively larger; further forward there were four more crew cabins, which you could reach by not taking the stairs from the stern platform but going straight through along the side deck.

Very excited, Li Younan took Gao Tiande to see the other four crew cabins. These four cabins were all doubles with bunk beds, and also had desks and wardrobes.

Which meant these four rooms alone could house eight crew members.

In fact, the bunk beds weren’t really what Li Younan wanted.

In his view, once you’re on his boat, he’d prefer everyone to live as comfortably as possible. But these bunks were things that weren’t really worth modifying and keeping them didn’t affect anything. At worst, when crew came on, he’d just give each person a room.

Each cabin was likewise equipped with its own bathroom. Originally, according to Old Chen’s suggestion, the four rooms could share one large bathroom. Old Chen’s reasoning was that if there were too many water lines, it’d be hard to locate the problem in case of a clog.

But that suggestion was vetoed by Li Younan. He still wanted every crew member to have their own private space.

As for the piping and plumbing, for a top‑tier electrical and plumbing guy like Li Younan, that simply didn’t count as a problem. He had personally designed it and personally supervised the installation. Even if there were issues, it would be very easy to troubleshoot.

This counted as the very bottom level of the whole ship.

After that, Li Younan took Gao Tiande up to the main deck.

The main deck was the primary deck of the yacht and also the largest area.

Coming up the stairs, the first thing you reached was the entry foyer.

Smiling, Li Younan introduced, "This is the original anti‑theft door from the research vessel. It uses thickened steel plate with sealing strips and can withstand deck flooding." Then he flipped open a small cover and pressed his fingerprint.

Gao Tiande’s eyes lit up. "It’s even got smart access control."

Once the door opened, one side of the foyer held a moisture‑proof shoe cabinet, and the other side had an anti‑bacterial wardrobe and an emergency medical kit.

Knocking on the medical kit, Li Younan said, "Inside there’s a defibrillator, tourniquets, antibiotics and all kinds of professional first‑aid supplies. Our ship doctor suggested I put one here."

Then they walked into the main saloon area on the main deck—the so‑called saloon is basically the yacht’s living room.

On Li Younan’s boat the main saloon could be seen as an open living room. It was also the single largest area on the whole ship, with roughly 40 square meters of space.

Three sides were sea‑view glass, with luxurious corrosion‑resistant sofas, audio equipment, and an industrial‑grade display that could be used as a TV and could also directly show navigation charts and sea‑state monitoring data.

Sitting down on the sofa, Gao Tiande said, "Hahahaha, I thought with your style this yacht would end up super hardcore, but I didn’t expect it to have a saloon area too."

Li Younan laughed and said, "To be honest, yacht trips for me are mainly about comfortable experience, so this living room area is quite important. It can easily seat a dozen people."
