Chapter 2181: Chapter 2181: Word Spirit Truth (2)

The driver swallowed hard and looked around furtively.

The door on this side was secluded, with not many people passing by and no one around.

The driver took a deep breath, put away the money, closed the car window, and started the car.

After all, it was on the way back, and in the pitch black, everyone was busy at the banquet, so no one would notice.

For the money, the driver chose to turn a blind eye.

Chuzheng got off at the villa where she lived, which was also the place where Mo Xiangqiu and his current wife lived. The original owner only luckily got a room here... a storage room.

According to Mo Xiangqiu’s biological daughter, it was already considerate to give her a storage room.

Chuzheng didn’t go inside, he waited for the driver to leave, and then walked to another side.

-

Everyone was at the banquet, so there weren’t many people in the villa, and Chuzheng returned to her room safely.

The original owner’s room was very oppressive in style, the storage room of the Fei Family, actually quite large, even a bit bigger than the master bedroom of an average home.

But the lighting was poor.

After all, it was meant for storing things, and lighting was never considered.

Chuzheng surveyed the original owner’s belongings, besides books, there was nothing else.

The original owner had another reason for not wanting to speak; whatever she said would come true.

For example, if she said she would see a puppy today, she really would encounter one.

Or if she said the puppy would get hit by a car, the puppy really would get hit by a car.

This wasn’t a prophecy.

She didn’t see anything happening in the future.

It was her words that caused things to happen, what was once called ’word spirit’.

Her words were reality.

Her words were truth.

But it came at a price.

Every time her words came true, the original owner would experience various misfortunes, from minor injuries to hospitalization, even life-threatening situations.

When the original owner was young, she didn’t know how to control this ability and would trigger it unconsciously.

After realizing her words would manifest, the original owner became afraid.

She was afraid of speaking, afraid of being punished, so she increasingly shut herself off.

"Word spirit..." Chuzheng contemplated and thought to give it a try: "Someone will bring me dinner soon."

Instead of waiting for dinner to be delivered, Chuzheng was met by a group of angry men in suits.

They didn’t even bother to knock, barging in and starting to rummage through the place.

So much time had passed, it was almost time for the ’caught red-handed’ scene to play out.

But when Chuzheng returned, she checked the room and found nothing.

So Chuzheng calmly stood at the door, watching the group search.

Outside the door was Mo Xiangqiu, Fei Jinxue, and Mo Xiangqiu’s current wife, Fei Youping, did not appear.

Apart from them, there were the servants from the villa, and the mansion’s butler... In the original owner’s memory, this butler rarely appeared. She only met him once after coming to the Fei Family, and people called him the Chief Steward.

The original owner didn’t know what he was in charge of.

But the original owner could tell that this Chief Steward held a high status.

The Chief Steward stood with his hands clasped in front of him, posture erect like a pine, no expression on his face, making it hard to gauge his thoughts.

Mo Xiangqiu entered the room directly, not giving Chuzheng a good look: "When did you leave? Why didn’t you say anything?"

"..."

How would I know when I left?

"Why do you smell so strongly of alcohol?" Mo Xiangqiu noticed the alcohol scent on Chuzheng and immediately frowned: "Why do you, a girl, drink so much!"

Mo Xiangqiu had a handsome appearance, and in a suit, he looked like a successful elite.

But if he were ugly, the original owner’s foster mother and Fei Youping likely wouldn’t have taken to him.

The original owner’s foster family had only a small business.

Mo Xiangqiu’s family wasn’t as well-off as the foster family, but after marriage, the business flourished.

Yet, Mo Xiangqiu initially stayed with the original owner’s foster mother because the Fei Family disapproved of his relationship with Fei Youping.

Under Fei Family pressure, Mo Xiangqiu was left with no choice but to choose the foster mother who liked him all along.

The original owner’s foster father’s marriage was quite a spectacle too.

Chuzheng casually glanced at Mo Xiangqiu a few times, remaining silent.

Mo Xiangqiu was used to his foster daughter being this way, unimpressed, but felt her gaze seemed a bit off.

Mo Xiangqiu looked at the people still searching and lowered his voice: "What on earth did you do?"

Chuzheng calmly retorted: "What do you think I did?"

Mo Xiangqiu: "..."

How should he know what she did?

He was chatting at the banquet when suddenly he got the message that something happened here.

"I ask you a question, why ask me back? Don’t you know what you did?" Mo Xiangqiu, holding back his anger: "You better confess, this is the Fei Family, not anywhere else!"

What on earth did she do!

Why did it even summon this Chief Steward?

This Chief Steward belongs to the other side, he almost never comes here...

"I didn’t do anything."

Mo Xiangqiu didn’t believe: "If you didn’t do anything, why is the Chief Steward here with people to search?"

Mo Xiangqiu looked at Chuzheng more oddly.

Did she really talk to him so calmly?

In memory, she either didn’t speak or gave vague responses, when had she talked to him so openly?

"Who knows what’s gotten into him."

"..."

Mo Xiangqiu’s face twitched, almost reaching to cover Chuzheng’s mouth.

The Chief Steward’s gaze shifted to Chuzheng, eyes sharp and scrutinizing.

Mo Xiangqiu, realizing he overheard, wished he could bury Chuzheng in a hole.

"Are you insane!" Mo Xiangqiu scolded softly: "Mind your manners, getting worse, how did your mom raise you!"

After scolding, Mo Xiangqiu hurried to apologize to the Chief Steward.

"You’ve exaggerated, I’m just a servant, can’t bear such compliments." The Chief Steward spoke mildly.

Mo Xiangqiu had been at the Fei Family for a while, aware of their taboos, the Chief Steward spoke so, but Mo Xiangqiu felt no ease at all.

Only blaming Chuzheng for being unruly, constantly causing him trouble.

Inside, they had turned the mattress over, obviously not finding anything.

A few people came out to report to the Chief Steward.

The Chief Steward nodded slightly, his gaze fell on Chuzheng: "Miss Chuzheng, if convenient, we’d like to search your person."

"What if it’s not convenient?"

The Chief Steward suddenly smiled: "In what way are you inconvenienced?"

Chuzheng just casually asked, not afraid of them searching.

The Chief Steward dispatched a maid to search Chuzheng in the room, her dress was changed, and a thorough inspection was conducted.

"Chief Steward, there’s nothing."

Chuzheng changed into casual clothes, walked out in slippers: "Now that the search is over, am I, the concerned party, entitled to know what you’re searching for?"

The Chief Steward: "Our master lost something, the surveillance showed only you were near the time."

"Oh, so you’re suspecting me of stealing?" Chuzheng’s tone was calm and straightforward.
