Chapter 2291: Chapter 2291: Custom Lover (26)

For someone to be entirely pitch black, Fong Yan hadn’t heard of this.

So Fong Wuye was called over.

Expert Fong Wuye stated: Never seen it, never heard of it, but I’m very interested!

Fong Yan puzzled: "So is he human?"

Fong Wuye rubbed his chin: "Little Cutie, didn’t you say he’s not a robot? Then he must be human!"

Chuzheng mimicked the same posture and kept a serious expression: "What if he’s an alien?"

"..."

Fong Wuye’s lips twitched, forcing a smile.

Sorry kid, this is something I can’t handle.

Fong Wuye needed to conduct some checks on this pitch-black person to reach a further conclusion.

"He won’t wake up, right?" Fong Wuye asked Chuzheng.

"Not sure." Chuzheng paused and then suggested, "Why don’t you give him another sedative?"

"Little Cutie, good idea!" Fong Wuye readily accepted Chuzheng’s suggestion.

Fong Yan: "..."

Absolutely! Cannot! Let these two stay together!

Fong Yan pulled Chuzheng to his side: "Where did you catch this person?"

"At that house." Chuzheng casually grasped Fong Yan’s hand: "He attacked me first."

Fong Yan’s heart skipped a beat, unable to focus on what Chuzheng had done; he nervously asked, "Are you okay?"

"I’m fine."

After injecting the dark figure, Fong Wuye sat back on the sofa: "You two stop being lovey-dovey now, did Little Cutie say there’s a lead on TID?"

Fong Yan: "..."

Fong Yan wanted to withdraw his hand but was held firmly by Chuzheng, leaving him no choice but to let her be.

Chuzheng took back some documents that included information about TID.

The document she found had already been decrypted.

When TID was first established, it was indeed just for regular research, but in 2060, some problems arose.

Simpson Fergus was not only the funder but also the project leader.

During the research, he discovered that memories could be stored in data, then transplanted into a suitable body to be reborn.

Imagine someone using this technology to live forever.

This undoubtedly represented another form of immortality.

This idea existed long ago.

Firstly, it’s against regulations, whether anyone secretly researched it is unknown, but certainly, no one succeeded.

Simpson Fergus found a feasible method.

However, he also understood that this could never be disclosed, so he kept silent, but as a truth-seeking researcher, he couldn’t truly abandon it.

What he didn’t expect was that this matter would leak out.

TID divided into three factions at the time, one supporting Simpson saying this technology should not be revealed.

Another faction believed this technology represented a genesis, urging Simpson to divulge the core secrets.

And one neutral faction.

Ultimately, due to the neutrality of the third faction, they couldn’t bear the fierce disputes and ensuing casualties, eventually leaking information outside.

Then... one day, a serious accident occurred at the laboratory.

Few escaped.

Simpson Fergus was lucky, surviving albeit with severe injuries and limited time.

The lab accident triggered a massive uproar; Simpson, as a survivor, stood under the spotlight, untouchable.

Yet, he knew when the focus shifted, those aware of the experiment would surely find him and demand the secrets.

Luckily, with his remaining time short, his death would end everything.

Simpson Fergus presumably didn’t reveal anything forbidden; Chuzheng didn’t find any core secrets as they were likely destroyed.

But TID didn’t vanish.

It still exists.

In the dark.

Someone erased all traces post-TID incident once public attention shifted.

That’s all about TID.

And the file Chuzheng decrypted was from the 2105 Garcia cruise incident.

According to the records, they discovered an uncontrollable experiment subject, tried capturing it, but an accident led to the sinking of the cruise ship.

The experiment referred to should be Fong Yan’s sister.

Fong Yan was also on the cruise at that time, coincidentally when he got injured.

Upon awakening, Fong Yan lost all memories of the cruise, only learning from the Fong family that his sister perished in the event.

About that memory, he inquired the Fong family, but they also didn’t know.

They received news from his uncle saying he was at the hospital.

The news about his sister was also relayed by the uncle.

However, contact with the uncle was lost afterward, and he directly vanished.

The documents were lengthy but mostly redundant, with only minimal useful information summarized.

"Garcia... the cruise ship?" Fong Yan muttered, looking at the half-assembled blocks in the living room.

A closer inspection of the finished blocks indeed resembled the ship’s lowest deck.

"Are you alright?" Chuzheng tightened her grip on Fong Yan’s hand.

"I’m fine." Fong Yan shifted his gaze: "I still can’t recall anything."

Now they only know some details about TID and Garcia, which Fong Yan cares about, and that his accident might be related to Garcia, but the rest remains unknown.

"He might know."

Chuzheng glanced at the shadowy figure.

He assaulted her, he must have had a reason, right?

Fong Wuye took the person back to the lab first, while Fong Yan sat silently before the blocks.

Chuzheng crouched beside him: "Are you okay..."

"Leave me alone for a while." Fong Yan wasn’t angry; his tone was almost gentle.

He leaned forward and kissed Chuzheng’s forehead: "Can you?"

Chuzheng: "..."

Chuzheng stood up and went upstairs.

When Chuzheng returned downstairs, she saw Assistant Yu delivering several boxes filled with blocks.

"I’m not going to the company for the next few days."

"BOSS..."

Before Assistant Yu finished talking, Fong Yan drove him out.

Assistant Yu stood bewildered at the door like a child who couldn’t find his way home.

Chuzheng left through the back door, giving Assistant Yu a contact: "Reach out if there’s an emergency."

-

Since that day, Fong Yan sat tirelessly piecing the blocks, occasionally dozing off on the floor when exhausted.

Chuzheng sometimes carried him to the sofa.

But Fong Yan evidently disliked this, so thereafter Chuzheng only went over once he fell asleep to cover him with a blanket.

The outline of a ship was now visible.

Seeing Fong Yan near collapse, Chuzheng had Fong Wuye come over to give him a nutrient shot.

Fong Wuye: "You just let him be like this?"

Chuzheng: "He’s the boss, how can I control him?"

Fong Wuye: "..."

Fong Wuye choked for a few seconds before hastily packing up and leaving.

"Oh, right, that person’s body was modified."

"Not an alien, huh?"

"..." You’re disappointed he’s not an alien, aren’t you? "I also found a chip in his head, similar to the previous one but seemingly more advanced."

Chuzheng remained silent for a few seconds before asking an unrelated question: "Did you cut him open?"

"...How could I!" Fong Wuye roared furiously: "I’m running a legitimate laboratory!"

*

Chuzheng (menacingly): I’ll spare you from being cut open if you vote!
