Leveling Up by Executing Monsters
Chapter 351 - 318: The Process of Retrieving Knowledge
Chapter 351: Chapter 318: The Process of Retrieving Knowledge
Level 2 [Spatial Domination] wasn’t a huge change. Aside from adding the ’Coordinate Tracking’ function, it was mostly just some enhancements to the original abilities—
—allowing Lloyd to open doors and operate elevators more smoothly, and to explore the mysteries of Space more efficiently.
However, the true core of the skill probably wasn’t about ’learning fast’. It was more about the first function: ’to influence and interfere with the Space within the range of his inspiration, as permitted by his Ability Domain’.
But with the strict condition of being ’within his Ability Domain’, and given Lloyd’s current theoretical knowledge, he couldn’t come up with many uses for it. For now, it was just opening doors and elevators.
’It would be great if I could get my hands on more theoretical knowledge. I wonder if they have any here?’
Another bold idea popped into Lloyd’s head.
Fortunately, he quickly reminded himself:
’Uh... no, no. How could I have such a dangerous thought?’
The others present, however, had no idea Lloyd was being so audacious. After hearing the good news he brought, the two lecturers were relieved and began the next phase.
"Let’s begin, Gordon. You’re first."
Lecturer Randy called a student’s name.
A history student immediately stood up. GLUG GLUG GLUG. He chugged a large mouthful of liquor, his face flushing red. Then, in a tone like someone marching to their own heroic execution, he said:
"Hah... Alright! Bring it on!"
After speaking, he took a small wooden stick from his pocket and bit down on it.
’Probably to keep from biting his own tongue off...’
"Don’t be so nervous. Relax a little. You’ll have a better chance of getting through this."
Lecturer Lille advised from the side. He then began to adjust the Orbit, slightly shrinking the radius of the Protective Shield.
As a result, the book pages and students that had been squeezed into the corners now had room to move, and they began to drift about.
But whether it was because their movements were restricted by the Protective Shield or for some other reason, their trajectories became even more bizarre. They all drifted in a circle around the shield, occasionally bumping lightly against it.
Whether it was intentional or not, the students, who had originally been facing various directions, now all turned to face the same way. They were all facing the Protective Shield, drifting back and forth motionlessly, adding to the eerie and unsettling atmosphere.
Lloyd had a feeling that the students were curiously observing the people inside the Protective Shield...
He even felt they were lonely and wanted to join in...
’Could they... still be alive?’
’It’s very possible. After all, that Miracle Magic is called [Time Freeze]. So, could they really still be alive?’
’No, no, why am I even thinking about this?’
’Haven’t I had a few too many bold ideas today?’
Lloyd shook his head hard, forcing himself to drop those chaotic thoughts. He tried to recall memories of spending time with his sister, intimate moments with Weiya, playing around with Elolo, and being affectionate with his ’Childhood Sweetheart’...
He wanted to use these memories to disrupt his train of thought and stop himself from letting his imagination run wild.
This method of self-distraction was quite effective. Lloyd’s mind soon went blank, and he continued to observe the process of retrieving the Forbidden Knowledge.
Lecturer Lille continued to adjust the Protective Shield, opening a tiny crack in it.
Immediately, a book page drifted toward the crack.
The history student then bit down hard on the wooden stick in his mouth, reached for the page, and released a wisp of inspiration and Spiritual Power, touching it.
The page trembled slightly before dissolving into a mote of deathly-gray light that vanished into the air, like a butterfly’s life withering away.
The history student’s eyes flew wide open, as if they were about to pop out of their sockets. The whites of his eyes filled with a fine web of blood vessels, turning completely bloodshot.
The small wooden stick in his mouth CREAKED under the pressure of his bite, as if he were about to chew it to pieces.
His limbs immediately began to convulse violently, and he collapsed.
At that moment, a power of Wisdom surged from Lecturer Randy, blanketing the history student. Then, he suddenly let out a low shout:
"In the name of Veto!"
The student was immediately struck by an invisible force, and his convulsions and tremors ceased. He passed out, his condition temporarily stabilized, and his mental state was maintained at [Mild Madness], preventing it from deteriorating further.
But Lecturer Randy himself fell into a state of extreme pain, letting out a low, muffled groan, his face as white as a sheet.
But he remained conscious. With a trembling hand, he pulled an ancient, yellowed parchment from his chest. It looked as if it could fall apart at any moment and emanated a strong, pungent chemical odor.
Lecturer Randy pressed his hand firmly onto the parchment. Lines of text immediately appeared, quickly filling the entire page.
The other lecturer quickly closed the crack in the Protective Shield, keeping those things blocked outside, and asked:
"How are you?"
"Hah... hah... Still alive... Damn it, this was way more painful than the last few times. Is it because of the influence of the Miracle Magic?"
As Lecturer Randy spoke, he pulled a flat metal box from his coat. When he opened it, a nauseatingly foul chemical odor billowed out from within.
