Chapter 363: Chapter 324: Incomplete Miracle (Part 2)

They no longer alerted Lloyd in their previous, frenzied manner, but instead appeared much calmer and more stable.

’This must be their normal state.’

So Lloyd chose to trust his instincts. He immediately pulled a silver-gray lead box from his Storage Bag—

It was a gift from the seller when he’d purchased the core materials for his third Transcendence. The seller had said it was the best container for storing Spiritual Materials and reminded him not to throw it away after use.

At the time, Lloyd hadn’t paid much attention to such a minor detail, but he had taken the seller at their word and kept the box. He never expected it would actually prove useful.

He quickly used his Short Sword to scrape the blood-colored ice shards from the table and into the lead box. He then sealed the lid tightly, wrapped the box securely in oil paper, and tossed it into his Storage Bag.

After he had finished, he suddenly heard a series of deep THUDS all around him, as well as a sharp, CLATTERING noise.

Lloyd looked up to see heaps upon heaps of bones cascading down like a tidal wave from all sides, threatening to bury him.

As for the towering bookshelves all around, not a single page could be seen on them anymore...

It was as if all the densely packed, layered books had transformed into these very skeletons in an instant.

Some of the skeletons looked human, others like those of Demons. They all had a gray-black, rotted texture, like fossils that had endured the ravages of time for thousands, even tens of thousands of years.

They looked a lot like the two matchsticks Lloyd had used for Divination earlier...

Their texture was as fragile as loosely packed ash; as they cascaded down, they disintegrated into fine powder in mid-air, kicking up massive clouds of dust.

His Twisted Realm instinctively sensed the danger. Its passive Twist ability activated automatically, shielding Lloyd from the vast, cascading clouds of bone ash and carving out a precious pocket of space where he could stand.

Amid the massive pile of bone ash, Lloyd spotted a few figures that still held a human shape.

It was Professor Fernando and the others!

Although they looked incredibly ancient and were as thin as skeletons, their bodies were coated in a layer of scattered ash, making them look like some kind of Greek War Gods.

But they were still alive; they could even utter muffled grunts and groans.

"My leg... damn it..."

It was the Bald Mage. Though his once-shiny head was now covered in age spots and his burly muscles had shriveled up like beef jerky, he somehow still had the strength to cry out in pain...

So Lloyd didn’t bother with him first. Instead, he hurried to dig through the other piles of ash, pulling out the professor and the others buried within.

This should have been a heavy physical task, but for some reason, Lloyd felt an inexhaustible brute strength coursing through him. His speed was astonishing. With just a few quick digs with his bare hands, he rescued Professor Fernando, who had aged beyond recognition.

He had fallen unconscious but was still alive—though for how much longer, it was impossible to say...

Lloyd glanced over and saw that the incredibly aged Bald Mage had nodded at him. He no longer had the strength to speak, but he gestured for Lloyd to continue.

Lloyd continued to use this seemingly inexhaustible strength, pulling the others from the ashes with extreme speed.

As he pulled out the associate professor from the Engineering System, the man, though too old to speak, used the last of his strength to drop a metal box before passing out completely.

The box landed on the ground and immediately began to mechanically unfold and transform, like a Transformer, into... a four-wheeled handcart?

Lloyd had been wondering how he was going to carry everyone out, and now he had the perfect tool. He quickly laid the others horizontally on the cart, opened a Teleportation Gate back to the camp, then found two vertical control levers at the back of the cart and pulled.

The handcart shot forward like an arrow released from a bow, diving straight into the Teleportation Gate.

It couldn’t help but jostle and shake, causing the Bald Mage to cry out again:

"Ouch! My back..."

Lloyd paid him no mind, let the handcart charge into the Space Elevator, and then dropped the people on it down one by one.

Then he quickly turned the cart around, ready to go back and rescue the lecturers and teaching assistants.

He could already feel that with the transformation of the core area—the library—the surrounding space was done pretending. The currents were no longer just dark and surging; they were now a raging tempest.

The Spatial Storm had arrived.

It just hadn’t reached its most terrifying stage yet, nor had it swept over Lloyd’s current position.

But the Space Elevator was already starting to buck and sway under its influence, looking as if it might be swept away at any moment.

Fortunately, Lloyd’s Projection was still holding firm here; it should be able to last a little while longer.

"I’m going to save them! I’ll be right back!"

With that, Lloyd opened another Teleportation Gate, locking onto the coordinates of the lecturers and teaching assistants.

The only one still conscious was the Bald Mage. Though he no longer had the strength to speak, he used his last ounce of energy to widen his eyes, staring as if he’d just seen a madman as Lloyd once again charged into the Teleportation Gate.
