Chapter 384 - 333: Medal for Outstanding Contribution (Part 2)
Chapter 384: Chapter 333: Medal for Outstanding Contribution (Part 2)
And after the academy entered its current period of stability, only two Outstanding Contribution Medals have been awarded.
One of them belongs to a major figure you may have heard of—the Veto Saint of Radiant City.
And the other one belongs to Lloyd from the Space System.
By the way, I am willing to stake everything I have—my reputation, my achievements, my rating, and so on—to guarantee that Lloyd is absolutely worthy of this medal.
So, from a standpoint of etiquette, if you see Lloyd in the future, please remember to give him a slight bow to express your respect and gratitude. Of course, I am no exception."
Lloyd patiently read through the long reply and couldn’t help but stare blankly.
’When did I ever receive such an incredible medal?’
He quickly opened his profile to check.
And it was really there...
It was even displayed in the most prominent spot on his profile page, the first thing you’d notice upon opening it.
’Uh... Isn’t this a little too flashy? Will this damage my persona as a reserved, humble, and low-key young man?’
’Speaking of which, is it just the medal? Aren’t there any corresponding rewards or a ceremony?’
Lloyd then thought of the person who had posted the long-winded message earlier and glanced at his name and profile.
’Hmm? Lecturer Toledo from the Engineering System, you’ve already recovered enough to be scrolling through the student handbook?’
Lloyd remembered that when he had saved this quasi-professor-level lecturer, the man had been so decrepit he couldn’t even speak. He had only left Lloyd that fun transforming pushcart before passing out.
He didn’t know if the man was just that resilient, or if Mizkatoke’s Medical System was just that good, for him to have already recovered from danger and be browsing the message boards so soon.
An image of that classic "old man on the subway with a phone" meme couldn’t help but pop into Lloyd’s mind...
And as this quasi-professor personally jumped in to educate the masses, Lloyd’s student handbook instantly began vibrating like some kind of sex toy, to the point he could barely hold onto it.
It was as if everyone browsing their student handbooks had suddenly gathered, spamming replies under his comment:
"Is that really Lecturer Toledo? The Lecturer Toledo who’s about to become Mizkatoke’s youngest professor? Am I dreaming? I actually ran into our Engineering System’s legend on the message board?"
"No, no, no, more than meeting a legend like Lecturer Toledo, I’m more excited that I get to witness the birth of another legend in my lifetime! I’m truly honored, Lloyd! You’re my idol from now on!!!"
"Oh my god, oh my god! I feel like I’m dreaming! A recipient of the Excellent Scholar Award and a recipient of the Outstanding Contribution Medal are actually discussing the same topic as me? Heavens! Somebody help me! I’m about to faint!"
"No wonder Lloyd was able to join the Space System. It turns out he received such a prestigious medal right after enrolling. That’s just incredible!"
"According to the medal’s description, Lloyd made an outstanding contribution to fighting the Spatial Storm? What kind of contribution could possibly earn him the academy’s highest honor as a new student?"
"Is that even a question? Just go look up the resume of Professor Lawrence, the head of the Space System. Even that veteran professor never received a medal of this caliber, only an Excellent Scholar Medal. So you can just imagine what kind of contribution Lloyd must have made, right?"
"Uh... Does this mean Lloyd was the one who stopped the Spatial Storm? He saved our academy? But isn’t he only Tier Three?"
"Heh, it seems you still don’t realize that at Mizkatoke, Tiers aren’t that important. What’s valued more here is academic skill... In other words, Lloyd’s attainments in the field of Space have probably already surpassed our Cognition."
"In that case, please accept my gratitude, Lloyd. Thank you for stopping this terrible disaster! You saved the academy, and you saved me."
"Same here. Thank you, Lloyd. It is my good fortune and honor to be a fellow student with someone like you."
"I’m not good with words, but anyway, thank you, Lloyd!"

Looking at the endless stream of thank-you messages, Lloyd felt a warmth spread through his heart. He was gratified and felt a strong sense of accomplishment.
’Who cares if I didn’t make the front page of the school paper...’
But as he continued reading, the tone of the comments started to get weird...
"Lloyd? You said you didn’t have any junior girls with you? Well, what about me? I might be a second-year, but I can be your junior girl..."
"Lloyd, can we meet in the real world? I’m also from Radiant City, and I’m currently running a private Association. I sincerely invite you to come and offer some guidance..."
"Lloyd, I look prettier than a girl when I wear a dress. Can we get to know each other?"
"WAAAH! AWAWAWAWA!"
"JIGU JIGU, WAIBU WAIBU?"
"Thx thx, I wuv u!"
"(Θ3Θ)"
Setting aside the first few comments from people wanting to get to know him, what was with the ones that followed? Why couldn’t he understand them at all?
’Uh... Don’t tell me the non-human students are commenting too?’
Although Lloyd hadn’t encountered any yet, he had seen it mentioned in the student handbook that the academy didn’t only have human students, and it even advised against discriminating based on race...
’Even though I don’t know what they’re saying, I guess I’ll just assume they’re expressing their thanks too?’
Lloyd didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. He then began to wonder if he should say something else.
But suddenly, Professor Hazled’s voice came through:
"Lloyd? Are you still at the academy? Why haven’t you replied to my message?"
Lloyd paused, quickly checking his student handbook. Only then did he realize that Professor Hazled had messaged him earlier. It had come right after he posted his own comment, which was exactly when his handbook had started vibrating like crazy, so he hadn’t noticed the professor’s message.
He quickly replied:
"I am, I am. Is something wrong?"
"Come to my office to get your medal."
Professor Hazled said bluntly.
’So there is an "award ceremony" of sorts? It’s just that everyone else found out about it before we got to that part.’
Lloyd couldn’t be bothered with the student handbook anymore. He quickly straightened his appearance, then reached out and swiped open a Teleportation Gate, stepping through it.
He was also secretly looking forward to finding out what kind of reward would come along with the medal.
But when he arrived at the dean’s office, which was like a dueling arena, he discovered an unseen figure had appeared behind the empty desk.
And it was a figure he was very familiar, very intimate with.
But she no longer gave off that ’Childhood Sweetheart’ feeling. Instead, she had an air of superiority, cold and arrogant, completely devoid of her usual gentle and charming demeanor.
"Lady Saint?"
Lloyd was extremely surprised and instantly grew nervous, not knowing what to do with his hands and feet.
He couldn’t help but wonder if the ’Childhood Sweetheart’ who always hugged him and was so intimate with him wasn’t the Veto Saint he had imagined her to be.
’Then who is she...?’
Just as Lloyd’s mind was racing with wild thoughts, he suddenly heard a light, silvery laugh by his ear:
"Hee hee, you’re usually not this reserved around me. Is it because someone else is here?"
With those words, she instantly shed her previous coldness and arrogance, changing back into the familiar ’Childhood Sweetheart’ Lloyd knew.
