Chapter 3: First Investment

He got into the platform and immediately a list of stocks showed up on the screen.

He had invested in stocks two years ago and a few months later it crashed, and when it did, he lost a huge chunk of his money and that caused him to be scared out of his mind. He never tried to after that, looking at it as something that was simply a scam.

"Please don’t be hallucination or a scam, please," he muttered and then proceeded to try and activate the appraisal.

The system sensed his desire and immediately activated it, the screen changed and everything that he was seeing on the PC started showing on the system screen, but that was not all, as beside every stock that was there was also a ton of information about it.

Gold was not the only one that showed this though, everyone there showed this information, it went into more and more details as to what could make the investment work, he saw the percentage of success, the increase and everything else.

"Is this real? Will gold really go up tomorrow?" Leon wondered, a voice in the back of his mind wanted him to let it be for now and check it tomorrow, there was no point in risking it when he did not know what was happening here.

He was about to step back and leave it for today when he suddenly saw the stocks of a new company and it caught his eyes in an instant.

Leon stared at the screen utterly confused and shocked at the same time.

"You want me to believe that a brand new company that’s only worth a measly hundred credits will somehow become worth a million in the next day? You can’t be real." Leon tossed the idea out, he had barely fifty credits, there was no way that he would waste his money on something like this.

He got on his feet and walked away from the PC, but after he took a few steps he froze, he turned back and looked at it.

"What if it works? What if I manage to become someone rich from this single act?

It’s crazy, but what else do I have to lose?"

He allowed the question to roll in his mind for a few seconds and then went to sit back down. He pulled out his phone with a cracked screen and stared at it.

He opened his bank app and stared at the money.

Sigh, "so how do you go about this?" He asked.

Immediately, the money in his account vanished.

[Investment Capital: 40 credits]

"What?" He said in shock, worried that somehow this system had scammed him and had taken away his money, but before he could fly into panic and rage.

The system asked him, he looked at it and agreed without an issue. And instantly, the credits in his system vanished and the phone pinged with a notification that he had bought their stocks.

Leon stared at it for a few seconds, this was a good sign, it meant the system was real and it worked. The main issue now was if it could come to pass.

"No point crying over it, if the stocks don’t rise by tomorrow, I’ll easily take out the money tomorrow, whatever is left and use it to have a good meal."

He got up from the chair and walked back to his bed.

Today had been a rollercoaster of emotions for him and he wished that things would truly work out. As the thoughts filled his head, he slowly drifted into sleep, still wearing the clothes that he had gotten beat up in.

The rays of morning sunlight seeped through the gaps in the window, they landed on Leon’s face. His eyes twitched and a few seconds later they opened.

"Urghh," he groaned as he stretched, he rubbed his eyes slowly.

"Seems I fell asleep," he muttered.

Rumble!

His stomach announced to him that he was hungry.

"I did eat yesterday, tch."

He got up and walked to his cupboard, he pulled out a cup ramen, boiled water and poured it into it, he set it down and allowed it to stay for a few minutes.

Knock knock.

Two knocks came from his door, it was unusual for someone to come see him this early in the morning.

"Who could that be now, the landlord?"

"Sigh," he got up and walked to the door, opening it without even asking.

He was stunned when he saw his neighbor standing right there.

"Uhm, good morning." He greeted awkwardly, not expecting to see her at all.

"Uhm, yeah, sorry for disturbing." She said, she seemed uneasy as well but she kept talking. "You came home beat up yesterday and I wanted to ask if you were fine?"

’Hmm? She was worried about me? Whoa, that’s unexpected.’

He was not sure why she had chosen to make this the first time that they spoke, but he decided to go along.

"Oh yeah, sorry, I got into a scuffle with someone," Leon said, not putting a lot of information into it.

"Scuffle? If you are in trouble with anyone I can help you know, I’m a hunter after all." She said with a smile.

’Oh yeah, she is a hunter, if I recall properly, she is rank C, nothing special but she was good enough.

Hmm, what happens if I use appraisal on her, what would happen?’

He activated it immediately and the system pulled up the information.
