Leveling Up With My Investment System
Chapter 56: Cold night
The trench coat man took a step back. He was shaky, but then he gritted his teeth and stepped forward. He twisted his hand and pointed at Sophia’s neck.
"If you come closer, I’ll kill he..."
STAB!
A sharp shadow went right through his shoulder. There was no blood, but the trench coat man staggered back. He looked up. "You think this is all it’ll take?" He roared, thinking that was the best that the attack had to offer, but then the shadow split into several tendrils.
Each one turned and stabbed into different parts of the man. Each one dug deep into him like it was sewing him up.
"You may be capable of changing your form, but I wonder, how long can you do that for?" Leon’s voice came from the shadow form.
"Leon," Sophia muttered. She could not mistake it. She knew the voice too well.
"Leon? Hahah, so you came to me. Then I’ll take you down as I needed to." The man roared and stretched out his hands. His arms twisted like clay and travelled towards Leon, but then the shadow tendrils moved fast and started stabbing into the hands as they travelled, like they were sewing them.
The hands made it halfway before the tendrils had sewn into them too finely for them to even move.
The man was stunned when he saw that his attack had not made it anywhere. He tried to bring his clay hands back, but they had been woven deep by the shadows and could not move.
Leon walked out of the shadow form. The red eyes vanished, but he was still filled with rage. He walked to Sophia, who was on the ground, and knelt beside her.
"I’m sorry." She burst into tears the next second. "I didn’t mean for this to happen," she cried, but Leon hugged her.
"It’s fine, Sophia." He said and pulled out a potion. He handed it to her, and she took it.
"Drink that and heal up. Let me handle the person that hurt you," he said and then got on his feet, looking at the man who was now burning with rage.
"Sonic sent you to get me, right?" Leon asked.
The moment that the man heard that name, he froze for a moment, and that was all that Leon needed to know that it was indeed someone from Sonic.
"Your face said it all, so tell me, are you willing to tell me more about Sonic so I can find him, or are you willing to die with that information?" Leon asked.
"You brat, you think it will be that easy to handle me?" The man roared and forcefully pulled his arms back. The arms were ripped up badly as a result and flayed in the air.
He groaned in pain, struggling to pull his hands together, but before he could do that, a wave of ice slammed into both arms and froze them up to the elbows.
Sophia was on her feet with a grin on her face.
Leon smiled as well. He tilted his head to the side and then spoke. "Let’s see how well you operate without those hands."
He wasted no time and used shadows to shatter the arms.
The man watched his hands fall to the ground as ice, his eyes shaky.
He staggered backwards, and the fear in his eyes had fully formed.
"Are you willing to tell me now?" Leon asked.
The man hesitated for a bit but then cracked.
"Promise you’ll let me live."
"You have my word," Leon said.
"Sonic runs an underground assassin business. He has grown it all over, and he gets young potentials and trains them. I was one of them.
I have never met him myself. All I know is that the Rising Sun Bakery is one of his business fronts, and you can gather more information from there."
"Hmm, alright then," Leon said. He got on his feet and walked away from the man. He walked over to the second man, who was passed out on the floor. He looked at the man and then at the trench coat man.
"Take your friend and treat him."
After that, he grabbed Sophia by her hand and led her out of there.
They walked together in the direction of their former apartment.
"I’m really sorry," she said.
"You don’t have to apologize. I should not have been so strict with you leaving alone. You are capable of protecting yourself. I was just worried," Leon said.
She looked at his face and then smiled. "But your protectiveness was what saved me today. I should have listened to you."
Leon wanted to reply, but she leaned in, and her lips pressed against his, soft and warm, her heart already racing as her hands moved behind his head. Their kiss lasted a hot two seconds before she pulled away and looked right into his eyes.
Leon stared back at her for a long second, and then he pulled her closer by the waist. His lips pressed against hers, and their tongues got in the mix. Their hands made rounds around their bodies as they shared a steamy kiss in the cold of the night.
She managed to pull her head away, and with a smile on her face, she grabbed his hand and pulled him along. They made it to their apartment in a few minutes. They got to her door, and she tried to unlock it while Leon already leaned in from behind and kissed her neck.
Her body tensed up for a moment and then loosened up. She turned her head, and her lips met his. She struggled with the key until the door finally opened, and then she turned around, wrapped her hands around his neck, and kissed him deeper while using her foot to kick the door open and pull him into her room.
Leon’s hands were already moving to his shirt as he took it off. Her fingers ran down his chiselled abs and toned body.
