Chapter 223: This kind of thing, no way level 20’s skill list (2)

When waiting turn in the line, the talk of other adventurers heard had the words Black Roller operation come out, he recalled.

"What is Black Roller operation?"

"For finding the criminal who used Hell Gate, the one the guild’s magic research bureau planned is Black Roller operation."

Enrica began explaining about Black Roller operation. Within ten kilometers radius of Hell Gate, numerous adventurers equipped with special magic items prepared by Virgo guild moving around was Black Roller operation.

When human magician used Hell Gate, a special magic circle called Hell Circle marked on the magician’s body. From this Hell Circle, miasma leaking little by little known from past research.

Miasma which was gas harmful to humans existed in large amount in the Northern Continent in the era the Demon King lived. Various things that generated miasma in this world existed.

But in modern times existences that could generate miasma strictly managed by guilds and autonomous governments, various country governments so as not to generate miasma. In other words, currently... existences that generated miasma thought only Hell Gate and the magician who used Hell Gate.

Generated miasma naturally disappeared in several hours, but technology to seal so as not to leak currently not existed. In other words, completely hiding miasma the criminal side could not.

That was why if found the place miasma existed, the criminal magician would be around there. Then, method to detect miasma only one existed.

Method using special magic stone called crow stone. When thing with strong aura or mana charged aura or mana, the crow stone ordinarily gray became pitch black like crow’s feather.

The blackened crow stone even slight miasma if touched reacted and had nature of releasing light. Utilizing this crow stone’s nature, the one the guild’s magic research bureau planned was Black Roller operation.

Crushing precious crow stone finely into particle state, then dissolving in solution to make black paint. Painting rings which could be said existence easy to wear and easy to catch eyes with this black paint, mass producing black rings... black rings.

Distributing this black ring to many people, and having them move around within ten kilometers radius from Hell Gate where the criminal should be lurking. Then, since black ring detected miasma and released light, could find around where the criminal lurking.

In other words, by people equipped with black rings, launching roller operation investigating wide range exhaustively, so named Black Roller operation. By Black Roller operation, the magic research bureau speculated could narrow to about fifty meters radius range from the place the criminal was.

Black Roller operation’s cooperators... participants limited to adventurers level 20 or higher. Black ring needed to charge aura or mana several times a day, and unless the one who charged equipped, not functioned.

Then, with low level adventurers, charging aura or mana to black ring difficult. Ones who could charge aura or mana to black ring without problem only adventurers level 20 or higher.

That was why Black Roller operation’s participants became narrowed to adventurers level 20 or higher. However, if able to have level 20 or higher adventurers charge mana or aura, even adventurers not reaching level 20 possible to participate in Black Roller operation. Since needed to apply participation to the guild together with level 20 or higher adventurers, adventurers not reaching level 20 could not participate alone.

"...Me became level 20 so can participate?"

While relieved at having become level 20 at the last timing, he asked Enrica.

"Can, but at least... please confirm whether can charge aura. Since minimum of participation possible level."

While saying so, Enrica held out the case containing the gray black ring already prepared to him.

"Choose one that size fits, put on favorite finger, and charge aura."

Choosing black ring of size fitting own finger, he put on left hand’s middle finger and asked Enrica.

"Not knowing how to charge though?"

"After generating aura, just gather aura on the finger put black ring."

"I see..."

While muttering, he generated aura. Then, his body began releasing white light not to the degree of faint.

After generating aura, mostly immediately he used skills such as Aura Mail. Using skill, aura’s light often disappeared, so ordinarily his aura’s light immediately disappeared.

Actually even without using skill, aura’s light soon disappeared. Generated aura accumulated inside body, so no longer leaked outside.

Just, this time not using skill, so right after generating his body in state still releasing light. In this state, he consciously gathered aura on left hand’s middle finger.

In human body, aura and mana paths existed. If accumulated training above certain degree, adventurers became able to consciously operate the movement of aura and mana flowing the paths.

Training to the degree of manipulating aura flow, he also accumulated. His aura gathered on left hand’s fingertip, the light of entire body disappeared, but left hand’s fingertip began releasing strong light.

But soon from left hand’s fingertip too, light disappeared. Then, the color of the black ring he was wearing changed from gray to black.

"Succeeded charge, confirmation ended."

Confirming the black ring he put on, Enrica continued.

"Charged aura or mana only lasts several hours, so if color returns to gray, charge again."

Nodding at Enrica’s words, he asked.

"This black ring... fine to use as is?"

"Please, for participation applicants who succeeded charge, become to hand black ring as is."

While returning answer, Enrica handed him a book about the size of a paperback.

"This is special atlas created for Black Roller operation’s participants. Not only ground but underground streets and dungeons too, only the range mapping performed, maps published."

"Possibility in dungeon too?"

At his question, Enrica answered.

"If within ten kilometers radius, dungeon also included in range, so at least. Well, until Iron Maiden reaches limit, the criminal continuing to hide in dungeon think difficult."

Even skilled large number parties, continuing to stay in dungeon said ten days limit. Food ran out, and properly acting became difficult.

Incidentally, unlike food regarding water, places securable inside dungeon quite existed, so no need to worry about running out.

"...Also, one important point last. If discovered miasma, please absolutely not try to subjugate the criminal yourself."

Enrica continued with a serious face.

"The criminal advanced or higher magician, and high possibility has same level companions. Individual adventurer... especially intermediate or lower adventurer, thought not existence that can subjugate."

"Ah, yes... from the start, that intention."

He who received similar advice from Uraka and Liz returned words to Enrica.

"When discovered miasma, please immediately report to guild or autonomous police."

"Understood."

Right after returning words, a doubt floated in his head.

"Um... miasma harmful right? Fine even approaching?"

"Ordinary humans even thin miasma if touched or inhaled, harmful to the degree of sleeping in for several days though..."

After prefacing, Enrica answered.

"Adventurers with orb have miasma resistance, so degree of miasma leaking from Hell Gate or Hell Circle, no problem."

"Is that so."

Hearing Enrica’s answer, he was relieved.

"Next... about Reverse Festa too, let’s explain."

Ending the talk about Black Roller operation, Enrica switched topic to Reverse Festa.

"Whether participating or not aside, if diving dungeon, possibility of encountering headliner."

"Ah, yes."

Enrica explained about Reverse Festa and headliner to him. Regarding official rules and unofficial customs, cautions and such, Enrica carefully taught him.

After the talk related to Reverse Festa, explained cautions when using guild facilities such as campsite to him, and Enrica’s talk ended.
