Chapter 104: The Harsh New Terrain [Privi EXTRA Chapter]

The forest stopped spinning and the sky turned black. Lightning stuck and rain began pouring. The group landed in a completely different area according to Tyler’s map. It was completely blank yet all of their items from their chest were magically set down in front of them.

"How the hell?!" Tyler exclaimed.

"Not sure, but grab them and let’s try to find somewhere dry, quick!" Nyx shouted.

They picked everything up and sprinted to a nearby cave.

"Flare!" Tyler shouted, causing several howls and shrieks as the cave combusted with flames.

"Quick! Get inside and touch the hearts!" Tyler yelled.

They quickly rushed into the cave. Tyler used an Earth wall to temporarily seal it.

"Uh...How is our old stuff here?!" Sophie asked with a raised eyebrow.

"Is it safe?!" Amanda asked, confused and anxious.

"Yes. There’s a central command center that broadcasts everything and that’s why you see all the cameras. Sure, it’s for our safety but it’s really for the amusement of all the fans who are watching," Nyx sighed.

"So how popular is this thing?" Tyler asked curiously.

"Billons of people watch but I’m guessing this year is even larger. You are an immortal vampiric prince and the other ladies are immortal vampiric nobles despite being human, elf and demon. You’re a group of unknowns with the crimson valkyrie," she giggled while shaking her head.

"So non-ability users watch too? That’s cool. Well, anyway, I’m just glad we still have all of our stuff. We should make some breathing holes and relax until this storm passes." Tyler suggested.

Sophie and Tyler took their turn with a nap while the others sat quietly and talked. It didn’t take long for the storm to pass. Several sets of fireworks could be heard going off throughout the evening but they didn’t want to leave the cave just yet.

"5." Kass said calmly.

"5 more teams have been eliminated." She continued.

"That’s good for us, isn’t it?" Amanda asked.

"Yes, but it’s only been one day and this event lasts a week. As the teams dwindle down, it will be important to keep our score up killing beasts and we need to find that mythological heart or steal it from the team who has. We’ll know because the score will show an additional 10,000 points." Nyx said with a calm smile.

"I didn’t expect them to cause such havoc on the first changeover. What are they up to?" Dean Pritchett muttered to himself while watching all of the display areas.

"Sir, we were unable to retrieve some of the students that were attacked in the areas without cameras," a worried high official from the medical team informed the dean.

"We all knew the risks and the students signed the waivers. Please inform their families. This isn’t a good look...Did I go too far with this event" Dean Pritchett asked.

"No sir. The numbers and donations have reached record day 1 numbers by a substantial margin. I know it isn’t ideal, but Vexarrans have killed plenty of Eidolons. We knew this might happen. We must stick to the plan." An important looking person dressed in a suit reassured him.

’I certainly hope so because we have to tell several families their child won’t be returning because they lost their lives in this tournament.’

Deep within the forest, the same group of eight Eidolons appeared. They appeared happy and were talking when another Eidolon in an all black outfit with a mask appeared.

"And the Rask child?" The lead Eidolon asked while clicking its large nails on the table.

"In the western portion of the forest far from any of the other teams. Would you like me to engage or observe?" The masked figure asked.

The leader thought about it for a few minutes before giving an answer.

"Very well then." The hooded Eidolon disappeared.

Tyler and Sophie finally woke up and noticed the other girls were asleep, aside from Amanda, who was looking outside of a small hole someone made using a sword.

"Amanda!" Tyler exclaimed while rushing over and hugging her.

"Babe, you look exhausted. Did you eat or take a potion or anything?"

"Yes, I ate a capsule a few hours ago. I’m ok Tyler, I’m just tired." She said while accepting his warm hug.

Sophie walked up with a large orange, red and blue potion [food, health, mana] for her and handed them to her.

"Go sleep girl. How long were we out for?"

"It’s hard to keep track of time here but it’s nighttime again. We’re not in first place anymore either, look." She frowned.

Tyler adjusted the closed entrance to allow for a clearer view and was amazed at the new scoreboard.

Sophie rubbed her eyes to make sure she wasn’t dreaming. Tyler ran his hand through his hair nervously. They weren’t in last but not far from it. They slept for longer than he anticipated but no one had found the crystal heart yet so he was confident they could still win, especially if they started defeating other teams or Eidolons.

"Why didn’t you wake us up so you could get some rest?" Sophie frowned.

"Nyxara teleported us out and we went scouting.We were able to kill beasts easily and even took down an Eidolon. He attacked us out of nowhere but he wasn’t very strong. We couldn’t find a team anywhere and we kept getting this creepy feeling that we were being watched so eventually we came back. We cooked some of the beast meat and Kass ate her demon flesh so everyone was tired. I volunteered to stay up because I wouldn’t be able to sleep knowing Tyler wasn’t well rested and full strength," Amanda said with a faint smile.

Tyler could tell she was exhausted and thankful she was being so selfless. He watched Sophie force her to drink the potions in a playful way and it reminded him of their first interaction and how far they’d come.

"Do you want me to lay with you Amanda?" Tyler asked softly.

"You should definitely do that. She let us sleep for way too long," Nyx said while teleporting over to the group with a food capsule and mana potion in her hand.

Kass was walking over to the group and drinking a mana potion after swallowing a food capsule.

"It doesn’t look like there’s anything going on right now anyway, so seal up the door and take her to the land of Summoned Monsters. Find the castle and let her get a good night of sleep." Kass said after she finished the potion.

"Is that allowed?!" Tyler asked.

"What they don’t know won’t hurt," Nyx winked.

Tyler sealed up the door and ensured they had breathing holes.

"Try to get a gauge on what time it is while you’re down there and gather any intel you can about this forest. It seems to be linked to your home realm, Tyler." Sophie said with a smile.

"Thank you ladies! I love ya!" Amanda hugged them.

"Sounds good, babe." Tyler said cheerfully.

"Kass, Nyx, Sophie, I love you very much. I’ll leave the portal open in case you need to go through." Tyler grinned while picking Amanda up. He carried her through it and was thankful the portal took him to a familiar place.
