Chapter 94: The Demigod [Bonus]

Tyler and Adam sat with the attorneys for about 30 minutes. It was straightforward and they were both instructed to follow the Commissioners instructions directly. The defense was likely to say they were breaking and entering as well as forcing the defendant into the world of Eidolons without his permission. They will claim self defense because an intruder occupied his room.

Tyler explained his original visit to the Land of Summoned Monsters and they encouraged him to tell that story. He was told to also mention Bahamut was aware of VanHorn entering the realm by demonic rituals and personally banned him from his domain. Attorney Jackson encouraged him to have his Eidolons speak.

Afterwards, they didn’t have to wait long before lunch. Tyler quickly ate and Adam drank some blood. When they finished, they were called to the official courtroom on the mothership. The students were amazed at how large that spacecraft was. It felt like a city on Vexarra, not something in outer space. The court room was large and there was no jury. Tyler was surprised to see the actual commissioner front and center with a panel of other people in black suits, similar to the ones the Captain Graves wore, but higher quality.

Professor VanHorn was already seated in his magical restraints with an attorney to his right and Tyler and Adam took their seats.

"Today’s hearing is for the sentencing of the Elven werewolf Ethan VanHorn. I am the honorable commissioner Cyrus Vayne and call forth the defendant to the stand," he said confidently.

He looked nothing like what Tyler expected. He was wearing white and navy blue robes with an OEA logo. He was muscular, lean and looked no older than 35. He was intimidating and his demon eyes with golden pupils felt like they pierced whomever’s soul they looked at.

Tyler listened to Professor VanHorn accuse them of breaking into his private laboratory strictly used to create new elven spells and enchantments to benefit Vexarra. He denied all allegations of dark magic, a pentagram or any wrong doing. Adam was getting irritated so Tyler used his leg to bump into Adam’s to get his attention.

"Calm down bro, you’re worked up. Relax." Tyler whispered.

"Quiet in my courtroom please!" Cyrus demanded.

"Apologies, your honor." Tyler bowed politely.

"This is strange. Why do I have a bad feeling about all of this?" Tyler asked.

"Because you’re being accused of lying and your best friends all worked up. Let us do most of the talking buddy, we have your back. If anything, I’ll get my pops up here. That should do the trick," Ash chirped playfully.

"Mr. Rask, please take the stand." Commissioner Vayne pointed to the booth next to Professor VanHorn.

"Wait, he stays up there?"

"Not Earth Tyler. Remember that. There is no jury." Ritsu said calmly.

"Mr. Rask, what were you and Mr. Fawkes doing in Mr. VanHorn’s room?"

"I was warned by Bahamut that someone would become very interested in me and start asking questions about the Eidolon realm–"

"Answer the Question Mr. Rask." Cyrus cut him off.

"Ensuring the safety of Vexarra and the Eidolon people and beasts." Tyler answered calmly. It took quite a bit of restraint not to get angry, but he remembered the briefing from the lawyers and what Ritsu said about this not being Earth.

"Why do you feel they were at risk?" Professor VanHorn’s attorney asked with a smirk.

"Because only summoners are allowed in the Land of Summoned Monsters and I was pulled there my first time by a demonic pentagram."

"And what does that have to do with my client?"

"He is the one who performed the ritual–"

"You’re not answering my question Mr. Rask," the attorney cut him off.

"What does a demonic pentagram that forced you into the Eidolon realm have to do with my client?"

"Stay calm Tyler. You’re getting angry." Vivian said softly.

"They want a reaction out of you, don’t give them the satisfaction. You’ve come too far." Shadow reassured him.

"I have strong evidence that Professor VanHorn created the demonic pentagram that forc-–" ℯℯ𝘭.𝘤ℴ𝘮

"And how did you obtain this evidence?"

"By using Adam’s serpentine link to follow the Professor into–"

"You see? He’s freely admitting that he forcefully broke into my clients home, invaded his personal privacy to blindly accuse him or something he did not do."

The Commissioner cleared his throat. "Mr. Rask you did not have permission to be in Professor VanHorn’s staff headquarters, correct?"

"No, your honor." Tyler answered honestly.

"All evidence found from the aforementioned room will not be held against Professor VanHorn." Cyrus declared.

"However, I do wish to speak with Seraphim."

Ash appeared in his human form wearing a mythical suit not made of any material found on any planet.

"Been a long time Cyrus," Ash bowed.

’Woah, he just bowed to someone.’ Tyler thought.

"Indeed it has. Please tell me what actually happened."

"My father banned Professor VanHorn from the Eidolon realm when he forced his way there via demonic pentagram."

"So why would Tyler force him to return?"

"To protect us," Ritsu said as all of his familiars appeared in their Eidolon forms.

"Did all of you just freely leave your host with no command given? I would have detected a summoning spell." Cyrus asked while turning his head sideways in confusion.

"Been a long time Lord Vayne," Leviathan bowed. "Tyler allows us to freely come and go as we please and does not bind us or force us to do his bidding. He is a kind soul who was protecting students at his school as well as the people of our home realm."

"Hi Cyrus! It’s been awhile," Ritsu said cheerfully.

"A fourth tail? Congratulations!" The demigod looked shocked.

[Inspect spell detected. Would you like to block it?]

Tyler thought for a moment. He did not receive a notification like this when fighting Professor VanHorn but did not want to disrespect the Commissioner.

’But what if it’s not him?’ Tyler thought. ’Block the spell.’

[Spell blocked.]

Cyrus looked at Tyler with eyes that made Tyler’s hair stand up across his entire body. He felt strange and he didn’t like it.

[Inspect spell detected. Would you like to block it?]

’So it is him...do not block it.’

"One of you should talk or something...this is awkward with him casting inspect on me in a silent courtroom."

No one spoke for what felt like eons. Tyler’s body felt like it was being deconstructed bit by bit only to repair itself again. It was a chilling feeling that caused him to use every ounce of his willpower to not pass out.

"Well Mr. Rask, I believe you are telling the truth. I believe Ethan VanHorn was using demonic methods without permission from demons to enter a forbidden realm to him." The demigod finally spoke and Tyler felt an overwhelming sense of relief.

"I find him guilty. Mr. VanHorn, your fate is in the hands of the gods now."

Without warning, Professor VanHorn collapsed to the ground, not moving.
