Ling Tian Sword God
Chapter 1410 - 1409: Dog God Sculpture
Chapter 1410: Chapter 1409: Dog God Sculpture
Inside the ruins.
Perhaps due to a barrier’s isolation, the interior of the ruins was not flooded by seawater but was an isolated space. One after another, the people broke into the outskirts of the ruins and landed on a desolate square.
On this vast square, there were buildings leaning in all directions, collapsed ground, and scattered debris, looking very dilapidated, as if it had become a wasteland. On the ground, one could see numerous pits, from which cold black mist rose, like wolf smoke.
Further away, there was a more expansive area, but it also looked dead and desolate.
The ground was crisscrossed with ravines and potholes, with hardly any intact place.
Seeing such a scene, Ling Chen couldn’t help but frown; the aura emitted by this place gave a very ominous feeling.
Crack!
Ling Chen had just walked a few steps forward when a crisp sound came from underfoot. He looked down to see a fragment of a broken white bone beneath his feet, which seemed to be a human spinal bone.
His eyes flashed a golden hue as Ling Chen carefully scanned the ground, finding similar skeletons almost everywhere.
"It seems the destruction of the Ise Shrine wasn’t due to a natural disaster."
Beichuan Ye surveyed the surrounding scene, equally shocked, as such a scene could only be left by a world-shaking battle.
Rumor had it that the Ise Shrine disappeared due to the eruption of a volcanic belt, causing disaster throughout the shrine. But now it seems, although a volcanic eruption is powerful, the scene before them could not be caused by a volcano.
"An ordinary man coveting treasure is guilty; could it be that the Divine Sword Cloud Cluster brought about the calamity on the Ise Shrine?"
Ling Chen’s eyes narrowed slightly as he spoke calmly.
"Indeed, everyone desires the Divine Sword Cloud Cluster, but the Ise Shrine was the most powerful force in Yingzhou at the time. What other force could have destroyed the Ise Shrine and seized the Divine Sword Cloud Cluster from it?"
Beichuan Ye frowned, finding it hard to imagine that anyone dared to steal from the mighty Ise Shrine, or had the capability to do so.
However, Ling Chen couldn’t help but ponder, Beichuan Ye’s words were not wrong; there was no force within Yingzhou that could rival the Ise Shrine at the time. But what about outside Yingzhou?
The Tianyuan Continent is vast; perhaps forces from outside Yingzhou were responsible, yet this remains unknown.
But why would the counterpart come such a long way to destroy the Ise Shrine in Yingzhou, knowing that the shrine, being the most powerful force in Yingzhou at the time, surely had high-level Saints within it, and not just one? Destroying such a force would be extremely difficult.
Unable to figure it out, Ling Chen stopped pondering further. How the Ise Shrine perished was not important; what mattered was whether there were still things worth exploring within.
"Let’s go!"
Beichuan Ye had already dashed forward, heading deeper into the ruins, while the powerhouses of other forces also rushed in, though in different directions, trying to avoid the people of other forces.
After leaving the ruined square and rushing for about ten minutes, the group arrived in front of a relatively well-preserved palace and stopped.
Walking into the palace, an ancient, yellowed, dilapidated hall came into view. Despite its rundown state, the hall had glittering sea crystal lamps hanging on both sides, illuminating the dim areas.
The group walked along the corridor towards the depths of the hall, with Ling Chen’s gaze constantly sweeping the surroundings. The hall was unusually spacious, and on both sides of the corridor stood numerous dog-headed sculptures, each several meters high, emitting a strange aura.
"They are the guardian beasts of the Ise Shrine, Dog Gods."
Hong Ye whispered beside Ling Chen.
Upon hearing this, Ling Chen then focused on the details of the dog-headed sculptures. The pupils of the sculptures seemed to have a trace of weird light. Ling Chen opened the Golden True Eyes, but saw nothing unusual.
Dogs are the most loyal animals to humans, so it wasn’t just at the Ise Shrine; many Shrines in Yingzhou used Dog Gods as guardian beasts to safeguard their shrines.
However, just as they reached the end of the corridor, the eyes of the dog-headed sculptures suddenly turned a bloody red, eerie and somber.
"Watch out!"
Ling Chen reacted instantly when the Dog God sculptures began to act. He immediately sensed the anomaly and shouted fiercely at the Beichuan Family powerhouse behind.
Upon Ling Chen’s shout, the Beichuan Family powerhouse at the back of the group changed his expression and quickly looked back, only to see an adjacent Dog God sculpture come to life. The sculpture crushed the stone pillar in its hand, revealing a sharp long knife within, and aimed it at the Beichuan Family powerhouse’s head in an instant.
Alerted by Ling Chen, the Beichuan Family’s Half-Saint powerhouse reacted, using his weapon to block the Dog God sculpture’s long knife, but was nonetheless sent flying towards the left side of the corridor.
"Lucky!"
The Beichuan Family’s Half-Saint powerhouse took a deep breath and looked gratefully at Ling Chen. If not for Ling Chen’s timely warning, that attack could have cost him his life!
Yet, just as a smile appeared on his face, the eyes of another Dog God sculpture behind him also lit up with a bloody glow.
Crack!
Accompanied by a crisp sound, the Beichuan Family’s Half-Saint powerhouse’s head flew into the air, and before the expression on his face dissipated, he was already decapitated, with a stunning column of blood spurting out, and the wound on his neck was remarkably smooth.
Buzz, buzz, buzz!
At the moment the Beichuan Family’s Half-Saint was slain, the other Dog God sculptures began to move, their eyes turning red, as if dead objects had come alive with spirituality.
The entire corridor was quickly surrounded by Dog God sculptures, blocking all the exits, leaving no way to advance or retreat.
Ling Chen’s pupils shrank slightly. While one or two might be manageable, the many Dog God sculptures seemed formidable, having easily slain a Half-Saint, leaving no room for underestimation.
