Live-in Son-in-law
Chapter 1749: Back Again
Qin Yi froze for a moment, then burst into wild joy.
The Ancient Emperor didn’t give him any chance to argue and dragged him straight toward that great door.
“Boom!”
As the Ancient Emperor stepped in, the door slowly opened.
Qin Yi’s mouth fell wide open.
Inside, it was nothing like what he’d imagined.
Several gigantic vortices were connected by a road of light, and crowds of people surged along it, walking numbly… all the way to the front of the vortices, then being swallowed one by one.
“Is this the Reincarnation Road?”
Qin Yi’s mouth hung open; he could clearly feel that all these people were Soul Bodies.
“That’s right, this is the Reincarnation Road. Whether they’re human or beasts in their next life will all be up to you from now on.”
The Ancient Emperor said excitedly, “From now on, all of this is yours.”
In the center of the vortices, there was a gigantic golden throne, and behind it was actually a starry sky, the heavens full of stars, shining with hazy radiance.
The Ancient Emperor reached out and grabbed, and a cerulean planet flew over.
“Look, this is Earth. As long as I feel like it, a casual squeeze and Earth will turn to ash.”
Qin Yi’s expression changed drastically, a chill creeping up in his heart.
The Ancient Emperor carefully put Earth back. “You can crush any other planet however you like, but don’t you dare touch Earth, or Chu Xun will beat you down into the Beast Path.”
“But you’re from Earth, so obviously you wouldn’t touch it.”
“Come, come, come, come sit.”
The Ancient Emperor pulled the utterly dumbfounded Qin Yi toward that golden throne.
Qin Yi was still in a state of shock, blankly following the Ancient Emperor over. He was just about to sit down when Qin Mu suddenly spoke. “You sure you want to sit now?”
Qin Yi came back to his senses and asked on reflex, “What’s wrong, I shouldn’t sit in this seat?”
“If you sit down now, that’s equivalent to inheriting Old Gu’s duties. You won’t ever be going back.”
Qin Yi jumped in fright and bolted away with a whoosh, breaking out in a cold sweat.
The Ancient Emperor glared resentfully at Qin Mu. “Who told you to shoot your mouth off?”
Qin Mu gave a slight smile. “This kid still has a lot of things left undone; he can’t replace you yet. Chu Xun told me to bring him to see him. We’ll talk about everything after he’s met Chu Xun.”
The Ancient Emperor exploded on the spot, his brows slanting in fury. “So everything you said before was just to string me along?”
“Everything I said was true, but he has to go see Chu Xun. Anyway, you’ve already waited this long; waiting a while more won’t kill you.”
Qin Yi hurriedly said, “Senior, could you help me find a Divine Soul called Duan Yiyi?”
“Duan Yiyi?” The Ancient Emperor frowned. “Why does that name sound so familiar?”
“Right, I remember now.”
Qin Yi’s eyes lit up. “Where is she?”
“She refused to enter Reincarnation, so I beat her down into the Beast Path.”
Qin Yi felt as if struck by lightning; his vision went black, and he almost passed out.
The Ancient Emperor chuckled slyly. “If you can take over my position, then I’ll help you bring her back.”
“You can still bring her back?”
“Of course. I am the Cangqiong controller; the life and death of all living beings lies in a single thought of mine.”
Qin Yi looked at the Ancient Emperor and said, “Alright. If you can really help me bring her back, I’ll take your place.”
Qin Mu only snorted in disdain and said to Qin Yi, “You actually believe this old geezer? If you take his place, you’ll be the Cangqiong controller—why would you need his help?”
“He’s saying that just so he can dump this rotten mess on you.”
“Qin Mu.” The Ancient Emperor roared through gritted teeth.
Qin Mu said carelessly, “You can’t beat me, so stop barking. I promised Chu Xun I’d bring Qin Yi to see him, so I’m definitely going to do it. Be honest: where is Duan Yiyi’s Divine Soul?”
“No idea.” The Ancient Emperor said proudly and arrogantly.
A strange look appeared on Qin Mu’s face. “When was the last time I beat you up again? Might’ve been too long; you’ve forgotten. Let me help jog your memory.”
“Hey, what are you trying to do? I’m the Cangqiong controller…”
Qin Mu gave a small smile. “Who said the Cangqiong controller can’t be beaten up?”
As Qin Mu spoke, his aura turned terrifying.
The Ancient Emperor clenched his teeth and growled, “Fine, I’ll tell you. That girl’s Divine Soul was taken away by Chu Xun.”
Qin Yi was suddenly stunned.
Qin Mu also paused for a moment. “Old man, if you dare lie to us, I’ll make sure to take you apart piece by piece.”
“I, this old man, won’t stoop to argue with a brute like you. Chu Xun came back once and took away that girl’s Divine Soul.”
“And then?”
The Ancient Emperor said angrily, “Then your damn uncle, that’s what. Then I complained a bit and he gave me a beating. Satisfied now?”
Qin Mu burst out laughing.
Qin Yi suddenly felt the Ancient Emperor was pitiful.
“With power this supreme, how come none of you want it?” Qin Yi was full of curiosity. To hold the fate of billions of living beings in your hands, how terrifying was that—and yet no one wanted it.
Qin Mu said with a squinting smile, “Try staying in this place for a few hundred million years and see if you still want it.”
Qin Yi shivered. Of course he wouldn’t want that. To live in such loneliness—better to just die.
Now he finally understood why the Ancient Emperor had gone all crazy.
Qin Mu said, “Since Duan Yiyi’s Divine Soul is in Chu Xun’s hands, we’ll head back first. After you make a trip to Earth, I’ll take you to find him. Everything will be clear then.”
Qin Yi nodded slightly and bowed to the Ancient Emperor. “Senior, we’ll take our leave!”
“Hey, can’t you stay a few more days?”
“Ignore him.”
Qin Mu sent a voice transmission to Qin Yi.
The two of them strode out.
The Ancient Emperor followed after them. “Qin Mu, you finally came once in a blue moon. Keep me company and chat a bit, will you?”
“Kid Qin Yi, stay a few more days. This place is fun.”
Qin Yi pretended not to hear.
When the two walked out, Qin Mu reached out and ripped open the Void, taking Qin Yi through it.
As the crack sealed up, Qin Yi faintly heard the Ancient Emperor cursing loudly. Honestly, this old guy was pretty pitiful—looked like Demon King Chu had really screwed him over.
…
…
When Qin Yi appeared again, he was already in the sky above Dragon Island.
“You’re back?”
As soon as Qin Yi and Qin Mu appeared, Lan Jiaojiao sensed them.
Qin Yi gave a slight nod. “Get ready; let’s head to Earth.”
Everyone nodded.
Yun Mengyao said excitedly, “We can finally see Bingbing and the girls again.”
Qin Yi was just as excited inside. After more than three years apart, he was finally going home.
Actually, there wasn’t much to prepare; everyone gathered quickly.
“Old Qin, I’ll have to trouble you.”
Qin Mu rolled his eyes. “Hypocrite.”
Qin Yi gave an awkward laugh, and Qin Mu simply reached out and tore open the Void.
“Wait.”
Qin Yi suddenly spoke.
Everyone looked at him. Yun Mengyao asked, “What is it? Do you still have something to take care of?”
“I still have a lot of Gold Coins in Sin Moneylender Bank that I haven’t withdrawn.”
Everyone was speechless. What a money-grubber.
“Thud!”
Qin Mu cleanly and neatly kicked Qin Yi straight into the crack.
When Qin Yi and the others opened their eyes again, everyone actually fell silent.
They all stared excitedly at that mountain in the distance, rearing like a fierce tiger roaring at the heavens.
Tiger Roar Mountain.
“I, Qin Yi, am back!”
Qin Yi yelled at the top of his lungs like a madman.
