Chapter 143: Meeting a Wealthy Merchant (2)
Chapter 143: Meeting a Wealthy Merchant (2)
The woman sitting on Solomon’s right side completely ignored the business conversation. She slid across the velvet cushions and pressed her chest directly against his arm. Reaching up with a manicured hand, she traced her fingertips lightly across his cheek and leaned her face mere inches from his jawline.
"A strong champion like you must get lonely fighting all the time," she whispered, batting her eyelashes.
[Fatal_Beauty: SHE IS TOUCHING HIM! GET HER AWAY!]
[User12: bro is fighting for his life right now.]
[GoonLord: I AM REPORTING THIS ESTABLISHMENT TO THE GUARDS!]
[1Fizzy: Solo Man is completely paralyzed lol.]
Solomon slowly turned his head and gave the woman a sharp, unamused side-eye. "Keep your hands completely off my face. If you touch me again, I will punch you straight through that wooden wall."
The woman gasped loudly and pulled her hands back as if she had touched a burning coal. She instantly scrambled backward across the plush sofa to put as much distance between them as possible.
[IceWaterKat: LMAO HE THREATENED TO PUNCH HER!]
[James_Hayes: zero romance. purely violence.]
[Chi_Master: absolute menace to society.]
[Grey: bro really just rejected a VIP maiden with a death threat.]
[Last_Fables: the ultimate sigma male.]
Before Chenric could reprimand the silver-haired boy for his terrible manners, a tall man wearing flowing eastern martial robes stepped out onto the open balcony, carrying a massive greatsword hung securely strapped across his broad back.
Chenric immediately abandoned his crystal cup and jumped up from the velvet sofa. He gestured enthusiastically toward the newcomer and flashed a bright grin at Solomon.
"Our second candidate has finally arrived!" Chenric announced, pointing a gem-covered finger at the robed man. "Solomon, I want you to meet the undisputed champion who single-handedly destroyed the Crimson Serpent Syndicate arena. He is the brand new king of the underground, Marco Alfoy!"
Solomon dropped his boots from the mahogany table and stared blankly at the newcomer. The man standing on the balcony possessed dark brown hair. He looked absolutely nothing like the peach-haired second-year academy student from the Sword Pavilion.
He wasn’t Marco Alfoy at all.
The man was impersonating Marco Alfoy, when he himself was the champion of the underworld, who had also impersonated Marco Alfoy.
[LazyCat: WAIT WHAT?!]
[GamerGuy: AHAHAHAHAHA!]
[1Fizzy: BRO STOLE HIS STOLEN IDENTITY!]
[User12: I AM CRYING. THIS IS TOO FUNNY.]
[GoonLord: SOMEONE ELSE TOOK THE CREDIT!]
Solomon simply blinked at the imposter and kept his mouth entirely shut. He found the situation incredibly amusing. Someone had actively claimed the massive bounty of fame and reputation he left behind in the subterranean fighting pit.
The fake Marco Alfoy crossed his arms over his flowing robes and glared down at Solomon. "Is this the other candidate you mentioned, Chenric? He looks like a complete novice."
"Do not underestimate him based on his uniform," Chenric warned, sitting back down on the velvet cushions. "Solomon possesses excellent physical capabilities. Now that you are both here, we can finally discuss the specifics of your classified extraction."
The imposter strode across the balcony and dropped onto the velvet cushions right next to Solomon.
A silver owl fluttered out from behind the man’s broad shoulders and hovered over the table. Solomon locked his eyes on the floating drone. The device clearly marked the man as an enrolled student from the Live Streaming Academy.
He wondered exactly which year this guy belonged to. Impersonating as Marco Alfoy carried massive risks right now. The Nether Fiend Sect was actively hunting down nobles and high-profile targets across the city. Broadcasting a stolen identity practically invited those assassins straight to his doorstep.
[IceWaterKat: wait he has a drone too!]
[James_Hayes: is this guy from the academy?]
[Chi_Master: bro is streaming his identity theft live.]
[Fatal_Beauty: this is getting so messy.]
The fake Marco reached across the mahogany table and grabbed the crystal cup Chenric had poured earlier. He tossed the dark wine back in a single gulp and slammed the empty glass down. Wiping his chin with the back of his hand, he looked expectantly at the wealthy merchant.
Chenric leaned forward and rested his elbows on his knees. "We are running a highly lucrative extraction operation. I need you two to infiltrate a specific location and secure a high-value asset. This individual is currently locked up against their will, and my employers want them evacuated immediately."
Solomon shifted his boots on the floorboards. "Why exactly is this person locked up? Furthermore, where are we supposed to go? You need to tell us if we are breaking into a local prison, a rival syndicate facility, or some kind of government stronghold."
Chenric waved a dismissive hand through the air. "You do not need to trouble yourself with those details. I will arrange all the necessary meeting points and clear the logistical hurdles. I already secured someone on the inside to coordinate the actual breakout."
"You two simply have to breach the outer perimeter and play the role of the bad guys," Chenric added, pouring more wine into the empty crystal cup. "Cause a massive distraction, draw the guards away from the holding cells, and extract the target while the insider handles the locks."
[Gray: inside job.]
[Dark_Skies: paying streamers to be the villains is a new meta.]
[1Fizzy: Solo Man is already good at playing the bad guy lol.]
[Last_Fables: this sounds like a setup.]
Solomon narrowed his eyes and observed the merchant’s confident posture. "If you already have a coordinated insider managing the locks, you should just sneak the asset out quietly. Why hire two expensive mercenaries to make a loud scene and attract unwanted attention?"
Chenric picked up his glass and smiled. "A quiet escape is entirely impossible due to the sheer number of elite instructors patrolling the grounds. The asset is currently being held inside the Azure Dragon Sect."
Solomon let out a long sigh and tapped his fingers against his thigh. "You want us to infiltrate the Azure Dragon Sect. Are you aware that both of us are actively enrolled as students there?"
Chenric nodded his head and offered a wide grin. "I am aware of your enrollment. Your current status makes you two the perfect candidates for this job."
