Longevity: Comprehending the Heart Method

Chapter 680: Extreme Yin Blood Banner, The First Drop of Blood

  • Next Chapter

Song Qingyun’s sword was like a Spiritual Snake, darting left and right. In moments, several figures had been cut to pieces and fallen.

Behind him, Song Qinghong and Song Qingyuan followed closely, guarding his back and flanks.

Though the three had only been temporarily assigned as a team, their coordination was flawless. They quickly cut down almost half of the “villagers” who charged them.

Each one was hacked to pieces. Barring the ability to reassemble severed limbs or be reborn from a single drop of blood, they were well and truly dead.

Mortals were mortals, after all. Even with their tenacious Life Force, their fundamental weakness remained. They posed almost no threat to Cultivators, serving only to drain a bit of their Spiritual Power.

Strangely, Silkworm Soul, who stood beneath the great willow tree, showed no intention of intervening. He simply folded his arms and watched coldly as his “masterpieces” were slaughtered one by one…

Meanwhile, Song Qingqian, intending to play along with the ruse, pursued the streak of light to a barren plain several miles from Daliu Village.

Seeing that it had no intention of stopping, Song Qingqian flicked his sword-fingers. A wisp of Sword Qi shot out, instantly striking the streak of light. A dark figure plummeted stiffly from the sky.

‘So weak?’

Song Qingqian was momentarily stunned. He rushed forward, cautiously approaching the black-robed figure lying on the ground.

Before he could get close, the black-robed figure on the ground began to deflate at a visible rate, like a punctured ball.

Startled, Song Qingqian strode forward and picked up a somewhat tattered black robe from the ground. Beneath it was a complete human skin, its facial features clearly visible, with not a trace of flesh or blood left behind.

‘A piece of skin gave me that much trouble?’ Song Qingqian’s brow furrowed. ‘What kind of strange art is this?’ He had never heard of such a peculiar Magic.

‘But that also proves my opponent isn’t very strong,’ he reasoned. ‘Otherwise, there would be no need for such diversionary tactics.’

‘So, what will you do next?’

Song Qingqian’s gaze drifted toward Daliu Village…

With the trio’s seamless coordination, the vast majority of “villagers” were annihilated. Dark blood mingled with the rain on the ground, forming a small stream.

The downpour intensified, and the white fog reached its thickest.

Suddenly, Silkworm Soul, still standing beneath the great willow tree, moved. He waved the White Banner in his hand rapidly amidst the downpour, and an invisible force began to draw the dense fog from the air into the banner.

By the time Song Qingyun and his companions had slain the last of the “villagers,” all the white fog permeating the air had been absorbed into the White Banner in Silkworm Soul’s hand.

“Hahaha, it’s complete! I have finally finished refining the Extreme Yin Blood Banner.”

Silkworm Soul raised the White Banner high and let out a crazed laugh, leaving Song Qingyun and the others completely baffled.

“The old bastard’s gone mad,” Song Qingyuan cursed under his breath.

Looking at the White Banner in Silkworm Soul’s hand, Song Qingyun had a sudden premonition. He warned in a low, serious voice, “Don’t be careless. He was deliberately stalling for time, all to refine that White Banner in his hand.”

“If he went to such great lengths, that banner must be something special. I’ll be on the main assault; you two cover me.”

“You can count on us,” Song Qinghong replied crisply.

“Hmph.” Song Qingyuan grunted, sounding somewhat reluctant.

“Let’s go!”

Song Qingyun tapped his toes lightly on the ground and shot forward. His sword sliced through the curtain of rain, aimed straight for Silkworm Soul’s heart.

“You don’t know your own limits!” A flicker of contempt crossed Silkworm Soul’s eyes. With a cold snort, he plunged the White Banner into the mud before him. A bone-chilling cold, the Extreme Cold Power, transformed into sinister vipers that lunged at Song Qingyun.

‘Qi Refining Ninth Layer?’ Song Qingyun’s heart seized. This was the outcome he had feared most, but now that it was upon them, he had no choice but to face it head-on.

“Break!”

With a great shout, Song Qingyun’s wrist spun at high speed. The Long Sword formed an impenetrable barrier in front of him, shredding all the “vipers” born from the Extreme Cold Power.

He then formed his fingers into a sword sign and swiped them across the gleaming blade. A layer of golden light immediately coated the Magical Sword, and he closed in to battle Silkworm Soul.

Song Qinghong and Song Qingyuan also closed in, attacking from the left and right. They didn’t dare get too close, however, as Silkworm Soul’s Cultivation was far too high. If he found an opening, it would mean certain death or serious injury.

Even though they were only harassing him from the flanks, they still caused Silkworm Soul considerable trouble, placing him under immense pressure.

‘This young man’s Cultivation is clearly a layer below mine, yet his techniques are anything but ordinary. Both his Body Technique and Swordsmanship are of the highest caliber. With two Qi Refining Sixth Layer cultivators backing him up, he’s actually managing to suppress me.’

“Hmph, you think you’re the only one with help? Corpse One! Corpse Two! Come and aid me!” Silkworm Soul snorted, then bellowed into the distance.

The next moment, two figures burst forth from the rainy night.

Startled by the sudden development, Song Qingyun and his companions quickly fell back. After steadying themselves, they got a good look and saw two new figures standing beside Silkworm Soul.

Their faces were ashen, and their skin was covered in large corpse spots. Their eyes shimmered with an eerie, oily green light, and their entire bodies exuded an aura of death.

Song Qingyuan quickly pulled out two portraits. After comparing them, he gasped, “These are the two who went missing from the Chen Clan!”

“He actually refined them into these… things, neither human nor ghost. If they’re as resilient as the villagers were, this battle is going to be dangerous.” Song Qinghong’s voice was heavy, and they subconsciously tightened their grip on their Magical Sword.
