Chapter 426 - 174: Centaur Royal Court
Chapter 426: Chapter 174: Centaur Royal Court
"Ding! Your Frank border Cavalry has successfully killed a Tier-Three Centaur Warrior!"
"Ding..."
Robson was puzzled. ’They’re fighting? What’s going on?’
’Are the Centaurs inside Julian City starting to break out?’
Robson frowned, but didn’t dwell on the matter for long.
"Ais, order the entire army to assemble and prepare immediately!"
Robson looked at Ais.
The Tier Seven Soldiers had basically all advanced to the Extraordinary level. The next step was, naturally, to send them all to the battlefield and test their effectiveness.
As luck would have it, this group of Centaurs had stumbled right into the crosshairs of Lord Robson.
"As you command!"
"Then I’ll go assemble the Fengman Knight Order."
Seeing this, Valentino also turned and left.
The order was given, and before long, the army had assembled.
The Fengman Knight Order didn’t keep them waiting long. However, to Robson’s surprise, when Valentino came down from the mountain, he was followed by a group of Bear Race Warriors.
The one in the lead was none other than Chief Mole.
"Chieftain, what is the meaning of this?"
Although he had his suspicions, Robson still asked patiently.
"Viscount Robson, we of the Mountain Rock Bear Race have always respected our friends.
We promised that if you helped us drive away the demonic beasts, we would swear allegiance to you. Now, not only have you helped us drive them away, you also intend to help us guard our territory.
It is only right that we fight for you."
"Oh, right."
As Chief Mole spoke, he pulled a piece of sheepskin from behind his back and handed it to Robson.
Robson took it. A single glance told him it was a simple topographical map drawn with some unknown ink.
"This map is what we used for navigation when we fled the Beastman Empire.
Now that you are going to launch a counterattack against the Beastman Empire, I’m sure you will find it useful."
Robson drew in a sharp breath.
Looking at the map, Robson drew in a sharp breath.
’Useful? This is more than useful! Chief Mole has done me a massive favor.’
The reason Robson had been able to advance so triumphantly on the Eastern Front was due primarily to his soldiers, but the maps he had previously captured on the battlefield had also been indispensable.
The Frank Kingdom rarely launched attacks from the Eastern Front. Even in the later stages of major wars, the central front was always the main focus.
Robson accepted the map and looked at Chief Mole with approval.
"I have long heard that the Mountain Rock Bear Race knows how to repay a favor. Now I see it is true.
From now on, you will follow my army."
Chief Mole scratched his head, not knowing what else to do, and simply nodded.
"Ding! 203 Tier-Three Mountain Rock Bear Race Warriors have joined your corps."
"Ding..."
With Chief Mole’s nod, Robson’s army instantly grew by over five hundred men.
The Mountain Rock Bear Race originally had a thousand Warriors, but after the recent incident, Chief Mole didn’t dare bring all of them.
It would be disastrous if their home was attacked again while they were away.
Looking at these tough, brawny Bear Race Warriors, Robson began to imagine them rampaging across the battlefield.
His, Lord Robson’s, Affleck was no impoverished Beastman Empire.
Recently, Affleck’s population had increased by over ten thousand people. These were the ones Louis III had sent him, supplemented by others Robson had requested or acquired through trade.
Besides humans, the number of Kobolds had also multiplied several times over.
The most obvious change this brought was an increase in the labor force.
With the current fighting, Robson had no time to manage his domain. But once the war ended, Affleck’s steel production could instantly double.
At that point, he could custom-make a set of armor for these Bear Race Warriors. Then, even if an Extraordinary Cavalry Corps were to attack, they could hold them off for a time.
...
While Robson set out, outside Julian City, Bo Yang was facing a major problem.
Bo Yang and Earl Uman summoned all the nobles involved in the siege of Julian City to the command tent.
Once everyone had arrived, the nobles looked at Bo Yang in confusion.
"Gentlemen, we’ve just received intel from our Rangers. To the north, there’s a force of Extraordinary Centaurs, about three hundred strong, accompanied by over two thousand more Centaurs. They are converging on our position!"
"Three hundred!"
"Could this be a move by the Centaur Royal Court?"
The news sent the assembled nobles into an immediate uproar.
Three hundred—that was no small number!
The renowned Fengman Knight Order itself only numbered five hundred Extraordinary members.
In fact, that was considered the total strength of all Extraordinary forces on the entire Eastern Front.
On the entire Eastern Front, aside from Robson’s less conspicuous Extraordinary Soldiers, there was only the Fengman Clan’s Fengman Knight Order.
They had been at war for a long time now; where had the Centaurs suddenly produced an Extraordinary Corps?
"Those Beastmen! Always so cunning! They must have learned that the Viscount is away and decided to play their trump card!"
"So what do we do now? What are those Centaurs here for? Are they coming to break our siege, or to help the Centaurs in the city retreat?"
A flurry of discussion broke out among them.
Everyone present was used to having Robson around. They simply did whatever he commanded.
A portion of them, however, had also fought under Bo Yang’s command before.
"Quiet! Everyone! Be quiet!"
Just as the nobles were descending into panic, Earl Uman was the first to step forward.
All eyes turned to him.
"Before the Viscount left, he stated that all military matters were to be handled by Baron Bo Yang."
"Let’s hear what brilliant ideas Baron Bo Yang has for us."
Seeing Earl Uman step forward to control the situation, Bo Yang shot him a grateful glance.
Although Robson had granted command to Bo Yang before leaving, there was no shortage of Viscounts present in the tent.
In the eyes of most, Robson’s second-in-command should have been Earl Uman.
If Bo Yang were to step up now, it was likely many would feign agreement while inwardly disagreeing.
Earl Uman made an inviting gesture.
He wasn’t trying to suck up to Bo Yang; the main reason was that he himself had no idea what to do. A past disaster he had caused had left Earl Uman with a lasting trauma about taking command.
"Gentlemen, whether the enemy intends to relieve the city or help them break out is irrelevant to us.
We cannot back down if they try to relieve the siege, and we cannot let them escape if they try to break out!"
"The rest of this Centaur group isn’t the problem. Our only real concern is those three hundred Extraordinary Soldiers."
"My plan is to use the Magic Crystal Cannons. Furthermore, we will need to be there in person!"
"If I recall correctly, there are over one hundred and fifty Extraordinary nobles among us who came with the Viscount..."
Bo Yang’s heart was pounding with apprehension.
He had led troops into battle before, but back then, all the pressure had been on Robson.
’This time, it’s all on me.’
Bo Yang’s plan, in truth, was not complicated.
It was simple: the Extraordinary nobles, along with the Fifth and Fourth Corps, would form the front line and absorb the enemy’s charge. The Third Corps would then strike from the flank to rout them. Robson had also left some Cavalry behind, which could now be put to use.
The core of the plan was its simple, unadorned structure.
