Chapter 543: Chapter 13: The Prince’s Astonishment

Robson and Prince Noah had already led their army to the edge of a werewolf camp.

The Wolf Race was also one of the powerful races of the Beastman Empire. However, the Wolf Race was very scattered and found it difficult to unite like other races, so they had little prestige or status within the Empire.

Prince Noah looked at the werewolf camp before him, his brow tightly furrowed.

"Robson, is this really our target?" Prince Noah asked.

Robson nodded.

"It’s not that I’m questioning you, but..."

"As I recall, the Wolf Race’s army is also quite difficult to deal with."

"We only have a little over three thousand Gnolls right now. You plan to use them to fight the Wolf Race?" Prince Noah asked doubtfully.

After Robson’s last urging, Chief Kadama had decided to send a portion of his elite troops over first.

Now, over three thousand of them had arrived at Robson’s location.

However, Robson wanted to use three thousand men to attack a werewolf tribe of over ten thousand. No matter how you looked at it, the idea seemed outlandish.

"Why don’t you call over those Soldiers of yours..." Prince Noah suggested.

Robson shook his head.

He had said it before: the campaign to encircle the Beast Emperor was the last battle for his elite soldiers. Naturally, he couldn’t have them charge to the front lines again.

"Your Highness, no need to worry. Just watch closely," Robson said with a smile.

.....

「Meanwhile.」

Chief Kadama was organizing his subordinates. A few human officers were by his side, helping him strategize.

According to the Lord Emissary, they were called "military advisors."

"Chief Kadama, the Lord has already said that you can begin your move when the human Knights attack," a human Soldier said.

"Understood, Lord Orc," Chief Kadama said.

Several days had passed since this group of humans joined the Alien Race Corps.

Chief Kadama had been somewhat resistant at first. But as time went on, he found that these humans only helped him adjust his army, command his legion, and manage his tribe.

’It doesn’t seem like such a big deal...’

The poor Chief Kadama had no idea that he was already being played like a puppet.

His shallow understanding of power led him to believe that because his subordinates still respected him as before, the Jackal Wolfman Legion was still under his control.

Orc, having been transferred over, couldn’t help but sigh at the situation.

Robson had originally intended to groom him into a second Ais. But the man was always a bit slow on the uptake, so Robson, feeling uneasy, could only transfer Orc here to manage the Gnolls and see how he would actually perform.

"The Lord Emissary! The Lord Emissary is here!"

Suddenly, the camp erupted in a commotion as Robson and Prince Noah approached.

.....

Seeing the Gnolls roar like a tsunami, as if they were believers seeing their True God, Prince Noah’s expression was one of astonishment.

Robson was about to offer a brief explanation, but before long, his own expression turned strange.

For some reason, the experience bar on his Mount & Blade panel had suddenly jumped.

It wasn’t much, but it had definitely increased.

Strictly speaking, ever since he reached the Legendary tier, the experience bar on his Mount & Blade panel would often increase by a small amount for no apparent reason.

Before long, Robson snapped out of it and looked at Prince Noah.

"It’s just a few simple tricks."

"As you know, the Gnolls don’t have it easy. A few favors are enough to make them go wild," Robson said.

"That makes sense," Prince Noah nodded.

In fact, the Prince was merely surprised that these Gnolls were so fanatical.

He wasn’t worried, however. After all, they were just Gnolls; they couldn’t amount to much.

Robson nodded, drew the sharp sword from his waist, and looked at the crowd of Gnolls before him.

"Charge!"

.....

「Meanwhile.」

The Wolfman Chief, Ludo, had already assembled his army.

Large numbers of cattle and sheep were hidden within the tribe’s settlement.

Ludo’s expression was grim.

For some reason, a band of Gnolls had suddenly appeared today near his tribe.

In an instant, Ludo thought of the human-led Alien Race Corps that had recently been causing a stir on the grasslands.

"Is everyone gathered?" Ludo asked the priest, Elus.

For some reason, Elus had been acting a little strange recently, always seeming to avoid him.

Elus nodded.

"We can dispatch the troops, Chieftain," Elus said.

"Good!"

"I’d like to see for myself if this pack of Gnolls is really as formidable as the rumors say!" Chief Ludo said fiercely.

The enemy was already at his doorstep; retreat was clearly not an option.

Besides, being so scared by a pack of Gnolls that he didn’t dare to fight would be a great blow to the Wolf Race’s honor.

Priest Elus said no more, a hint of curiosity in his eyes.

.....

Chief Ludo quickly changed his mind.

To be precise, his expression had already changed the moment he laid eyes on the army.

Chief Ludo had fled back from the central front and had ample combat experience.

He could tell at a glance that the Tier Five Gnolls led by Robson were extraordinary.

’That marching pace... it looks nothing like Gnolls.’

’And their weapons, no matter how I look at them, seem more advanced than ours.’

The Gnolls’ weapons had all been "procured" by Robson from the logistics camps, so they were naturally far better than the crude products of the Beastman Empire.

"For the Lord Emissary! Charge!"

The Gnolls on the other side showed none of the fear Chief Ludo was used to seeing. Shouting something about an "emissary" and a "great power," they charged forward.

Chief Ludo’s elite troops had already been lost in the meat grinder of the central front.

Even if his elite troops were here, they would have been no match for Robson’s veterans, let alone the rabble he was leading now.

As expected, the werewolf tribe was quickly routed.

The Gnolls even intentionally split up and encircled them.

Watching his tribesmen dwindle, Ludo’s expression gradually shifted from anger to terror.

"I surrender! I surrender!"

"The Wolf Race also believes in the great power! I surrender! I want to see the Lord Emissary!"

The battle didn’t even last ten minutes before Ludo raised his wolf claws in surrender.

....

Chief Kadama escorted Chief Ludo to Robson and forced him to kneel.

"Lord Emissary, this is the enemy chieftain," Chief Kadama said.

"Hiss..." Prince Noah sucked in a sharp breath.

He had thought the battle would be difficult, that Robson would use all sorts of brilliant commands and that there would be many thrilling moments.

Prince Noah had even hoped to learn a thing or two about how Robson waged war.

But in the end, the entire process could be summarized as: Robson told the Gnolls to charge, the Gnolls charged, the Gnolls and werewolves fought, and the Gnolls won.

"I never expected that Gnolls could have such combat strength..."

"This puts my mind at ease," Prince Noah said.

"Not all Gnolls are like this. These are elite troops," Robson said.

’If all Gnolls were this strong, the reforms would probably collapse halfway through.’

"Of course," Prince Noah said with a smile.

"As for these werewolves, I wonder what the Prince’s intentions are?" Robson asked.

Werewolves were not a low-tier race; they were mid-tier at least.

Whether or not to accept the werewolves was a thorny issue.

Prince Noah thought for a moment, then nodded.

"Accept them. Of course, we must accept them."

"However, we must set some limits. We certainly can’t accept their Royal Family. Our focus must remain on the Gnolls. After all, our strategy is to unite the low-tier races against the Beastman Royal Family."

"If we accept too many high-tier races, the Gnolls might start to feel uneasy."

Robson nodded. Prince Noah had a point.

The reason he had won the Gnolls’ support, in the end, was because he led them to "overthrow the local tyrants and divide up the land."

However, one thing did surprise Robson. After the werewolves submitted, his unit tree actually showed that the Wolf Race had Tier Six Soldiers!

The Elus Wolf God Guard.

Having Tier Six Soldiers meant they could reach Tier Seven and then enter the Extraordinary realm!

Although the Mountain Rock Bear Race could do it too, they required far too much experience. The Wolf Race was basically on par with humans in that regard.

Besides, the Mountain Rock Bear Race was likely the only one of its kind on the entire grassland, whereas werewolves could be found in droves.

After accepting Chief Ludo’s allegiance, Robson led the Gnolls to collect the spoils of war and ordered them to be transported back to the Bronze Plains.

......

「On another hilltop.」

Two Purple-blooded Beastmen, one old and one young, were talking. On the ground beside them was a set of Purple-blooded Beastmen clothing.

"How did it go, Philian? Did you notice anything amiss?" the old man asked.

The old man’s name was Eddie, and the young man’s was Philian.

If one looked closely, one could see a simplified skull tattooed behind both of their ears.

The Purple-blooded Beastmen on Madar Mountain would certainly be very familiar with this skull.

The Skull Council, which had recently been causing a stir in Madar Palace.

Philian’s expression was grave.

"I’m not sure. I didn’t sense anything unusual, but these Gnolls are absurdly strong," Philian said.

Hearing this, Eddie frowned.

"Forget it. If you can’t sense it, you can’t sense it."

"The most urgent task right now is still to gain control of Madar Mountain," Eddie said.

"Have the Half-Dragon People confirmed that they won’t interfere?" Philian asked.

Their main purpose for coming out this time was, after all, the Half-Dragon People.

The Half-Dragon People were close to Kemal, and all of Kemal’s sons were ambitious and difficult to control.

The Skull Council was preparing to endorse another scion of the Imperial Family, but doing so might invite opposition from Kemal’s old friends.

"Roland is busy dealing with those rebels right now and has no time to spare for this. As long as we move fast enough, they’ll have no choice but to accept it," Eddie said.

"Hmph! Damn rebels."

"Enough. We’ll deal with those traitors sooner or later. Let’s hurry back."

"If we don’t go back now, we’ll miss the Emperor’s coronation."
