Lord of All Gods

Chapter 3455

Even the Blood Fox had not expected Ye Liuyun to be able to release another soul source.

A single soul source was already powerful enough, and they were rarely seen even among martial artists at the fourth level of the Void Realm. Ye Liuyun was only at the second level of the Void Realm, yet he had somehow cultivated two soul sources, which naturally took it completely by surprise.

Moreover, both of Ye Liuyun’s soul sources were extraordinarily powerful. Whether they transformed into soul blades or attacked directly with the power of heaven and earth, the Blood Fox could withstand neither.

Although the Blood Foxes were highly intelligent, they were still ferocious beasts and did not attach enough importance to cultivating their souls. Ye Liuyun therefore quickly killed both of them.

Chen Yueying was doing just as well. With the Red Eye on her soul, dealing with a Blood Fox at the first level of the Void Realm was easy for her.

As soon as the battle ended, Ye Liuyun gathered up all the Blood Fox corpses.

He had noticed that Yue Hengfeng had already brought several disciples after them. They had been wearing down that Blood Fox earlier, and when they suddenly saw it flee without even looking back, they naturally gave chase. They had also sensed the true essence fluctuations produced by the several arrows Ye Liuyun had fired.

They were not far away now, and they clearly saw Ye Liuyun store the Blood Fox corpses in his Interspatial Ring.

As soon as Ye Liuyun finished collecting the Blood Fox corpses, he grabbed Chen Yueying and ran, without having time to explain anything to her.

He had discovered that the other three groups of Blood Foxes were already closing in. He had to put some distance between himself and them, or else he would be attacked from several sides.

Chen Yueying also saw Yue Hengfeng and the others, and assumed that Ye Liuyun was trying to avoid them.

“We’re all inner disciples. They shouldn’t attack us!” she transmitted to Ye Liuyun in explanation.

A blush nevertheless appeared on her face. She rather liked being pulled along by Ye Liuyun like this.

Yue Hengfeng and the others had spent a long time pursuing the Blood Foxes and had even lost two companions. Now Ye Liuyun had reaped the benefits, so they were naturally unwilling to accept it. They wanted to use their numerical advantage to seize the Blood Foxes and exchange them for mission points; otherwise, their trip would have been entirely in vain.

As he ran, Ye Liuyun transmitted to Chen Yueying, “They don’t want to kill us. They want to take the Blood Foxes back to complete the mission. Let’s keep running forward and lure them right into the Blood Foxes’ ambush. We can use them to deal with those Blood Foxes.”

What Ye Liuyun said was indeed correct. By leading Chen Yueying forward through the palace, the two of them presented a much smaller target. When the other three groups of Blood Foxes rushed over, they happened to spot Yue Hengfeng and the others. Assuming that they had been responsible for what happened earlier, they immediately surrounded them.

Yue Hengfeng did not possess the Golden Eyes of Insight or the Red Eyes of the Soul, so he could not tell that they were Blood Foxes transformed into demons. When they surrounded him, he immediately stopped and explained, “We are disciples of the Thousand Spirits Sect, and we came here to kill Blood Foxes. You came to kill Blood Foxes too, right? We’ll each rely on our own abilities—”

But before he could finish, the group of Blood Foxes began absorbing the blood of the several men.

With so many Blood Foxes attacking them at once, the immense suction force was easy to imagine. The blood throughout their bodies immediately began to boil and seep uncontrollably out of them.

The slower-reacting martial artists tried to circulate their power of bloodline and seal it inside their bodies. Yue Hengfeng, however, immediately took out a red orb of light and infused it with true essence, causing it to radiate a red glow that enveloped him and two other martial artists.

As for the other three martial artists, they were a little farther away, and he had no time to save them.

The red barrier of light could actually withstand the Blood Foxes’ bloodline attacks. The three people inside it all breathed a sigh of relief.

But the pressure on the three people outside grew even greater. One of them soon collapsed, his body visibly shrinking. The other two also knew that they could not survive, so they immediately released their souls and tried to launch soul attacks against the Blood Foxes.

However, each of the Blood Foxes released a soul of its own, instantly destroying the souls of the two men.

Only then did Yue Hengfeng and the two remaining men realize that these were all Blood Foxes transformed into demons.

Yue Hengfeng immediately took out a large black bow and raised it to shoot at a Blood Fox at the fifth level of the Void Realm. Although the arrow did not create as much commotion as the Great Wilderness Bow, it pierced straight through the Blood Fox and killed it on the spot.

He then fired several more arrows in succession, killing all the surrounding Blood Foxes at the fourth level of the Void Realm and above. However, he did not have much true essence left and did not dare to shoot again.

The other two disciples also took out treasures and hurled them at the Blood Foxes, killing two of the weaker ones. The Blood Foxes around them retreated one after another, no longer daring to approach.

“Roar!”

A beastly roar rang out. The Blood Foxes that had been retreating suddenly stopped, then launched soul attacks at the three martial artists together.

“As expected, old ginger is hotter! This Blood Fox, the strongest and apparently the oldest of the lot, certainly has plenty of experience.”

Watching from a distance, Ye Liuyun could not help admiring it.

It turned out that the strongest Blood Fox had just told the Blood Foxes that were trying to flee to test their soul attacks. The red orb of light could block bloodline attacks, but it might not be able to stop soul attacks.

Many defensive treasures were incapable of resisting soul attacks.

Sure enough, the Blood Fox had guessed correctly. The souls of the Blood Foxes surged forward, instantly destroying the souls of the other two disciples.

Yue Hengfeng had helped them block the bloodline attacks, but there was nothing he could do about the soul attacks except protect himself. Within his sea of consciousness was a fire phoenix soul that defended against soul attacks. Like the Vermilion Bird, it could unleash soul flames.

His sea of consciousness had already become a sea of fire. The souls of the Blood Foxes that rushed into it were ignited by the flames before they could even attack his soul.

Some of the Blood Fox souls that had not been burned to ash on the spot escaped from his sea of consciousness, but in the end they still could not extinguish the flames and failed to escape the fate of having their souls scattered.

“Yue Hengfeng really does have quite a few treasures.” Seeing him use one orb of light to defend against bloodline attacks and rely on flames within his sea of consciousness, Ye Liuyun felt that Yue Hengfeng would be difficult to deal with.

“Of course. He’s a member of an aristocratic clan of artifact refiners, so he naturally has no shortage of treasures,” Chen Yueying echoed from the side.

“Oh, an artifact-refining clan? Can he refine artifacts?” Ye Liuyun immediately became interested.

“They say he never received his family’s inheritance and doesn’t know how to refine artifacts. I don’t know the details either!” Chen Yueying did not know much about Yue Hengfeng; she had only heard about him.

“That really is a pity!”

When Ye Liuyun heard that he could not refine artifacts, he immediately lost interest. Otherwise, he had been planning to save him and recruit him for his own use.

“Roar!”

The strongest Blood Fox immediately called off the soul attacks and ordered the remaining seven Fire Foxes to bombard the red barrier of light. It itself hid far away to avoid being struck by Yue Hengfeng’s arrows.

The barrier of light that defended against bloodline attacks was not very effective against physical attacks. Under the assault of the seven Fire Foxes, it trembled incessantly.

Fortunately, Yue Hengfeng had already killed all the stronger Blood Foxes, leaving only these seven, whose strength was limited.
