Chapter 636: Chapter 408: Vengeance Exacted
’I can’t give up. There must be a chance to escape...’
A vicious glint flashed in Hua Manzhu’s eyes as a crazed look spread across her face. She immediately coughed up a mouthful of blood.
The blood condensed in midair, forming a crimson arrow wreathed in the black aura of a Curse. It ignored the distance and struck Zhou Chen in an instant, giving him no chance to dodge.
BANG! Zhou Chen’s already fractured body exploded. Countless searing-hot steel fragments shot out in every direction, riddling the rainforest with holes.
Upon landing, the steel fragments melted into pale, molten iron, seeping into the ground as if absorbed by the soil and disappearing without a trace.
Hua Manzhu knew very well that Zhou Chen wasn’t dead. Instead of pressing her advantage, she used the time to regulate her breathing and attempted to construct a Space Array to escape.
’I still have so much to do, so many people left to kill. I absolutely cannot die here!’
Countless lines and runes converged into a strange Alchemy Matrix. A silver, door-like outline appeared, its radiance flaring to a blinding intensity for an instant before rapidly dimming. With a CRACK, it shattered, exploding into fine dust that scattered away. The expected Space Gate never opened; the Matrix attempting to pry open space had been completely shattered.
Refusing to accept it, Hua Manzhu cast a Cross-Space Spell from the Abyss. Pitch-black, sinister Abyssal characters wove themselves into the shape of an archway. The space within the gate rippled for a moment but quickly fell still. Then, with a BANG, the archway of Abyssal characters exploded.
Her expression turned completely grim. The space here had been completely sealed off by the Star Association, isolated from the rest of the World. Forget about a Space Array or a Space Spell; even a Crowned King with a Tier Five Spatial Attribute would be trapped here, bumping around like a headless fly, unable to break out of the enclosure.
No one would doubt the Star Association’s technology.
Just as Hua Manzhu’s mind raced, considering other possible escape routes, a powerful sense of crisis suddenly surged within her. She instantly transformed into a pool of shadow and retreated.
The ground ruptured with a deafening roar. Like a volcanic eruption, dozens of pillars of searing magma erupted from the earth, shooting up toward the crimson night sky. They briefly tore through the bloody moonlight cast by the Crimson Full Moon, revealing the normal black night sky around them, as if that patch of crimson had been wiped from a canvas.
Pale flames swirled as the pillars of molten steel and magma spewed wildly, weaving together into a world-destroying, soul-burning Sky Net that incinerated nearly half the rainforest. Hua Manzhu, in her shadow form, darted and weaved between the pillars, but she still couldn’t escape the terrifying, spreading inferno.
The pool of shadow violently burst into flame, becoming a human torch in the blink of an eye. It finally solidified back into Hua Manzhu, who collapsed to the ground, engulfed in fire. She was charred black, her skin cracked and broken—a truly wretched sight.
A pillar of fire exploded like a wave crashing against a reef, and Zhou Chen, his body now made of steel, strode out from within. His injuries had vanished. His form was tougher and more incandescent, dazzlingly bright, like steel that had been forged and tempered a thousand times.
Seeing him recover from his injuries so quickly, Hua Manzhu’s heart sank. She reached a hand toward the Crimson Full Moon in the night sky, attempting to command the Forbidden Object to fight.
Zhou Chen acted fast. He pulled out a speaker and began playing a beautiful piece of classical music. It was a composition by the King of Music—not only was the melody beautiful, pleasant, and full of emotion, but it also contained the power of Mysticism and could even be used as an element in certain rituals.
As the classical music infused with the properties of Mysticism played on, the light of the Crimson Full Moon dimmed. Its activity suppressed, it no longer responded to Hua Manzhu’s control and command.
Then, a bright flame ignited on the Demon-Breaking Sword. Zhou Chen swung the blade, sending molten iron and magma flying as a scorching beam of sword light erupted forth, shooting straight ahead.
Dark Evil Fire erupted from Hua Manzhu’s body, dispelling the Cyan Flame. But her spirit was already damaged, the burning pain was unbearable, and she was on the verge of losing consciousness. Facing the incoming Demon-Breaking Sword Light, she could only force herself to remain lucid and use Shadow Style to dodge.
She was a beat too slow. The brilliant Demon-Breaking Sword Light grazed her arm, and the part below her elbow evaporated instantly. The part above was severely ulcerated by the searing light, her skin charring black and peeling back as thick smoke rose. Fortunately, her Soul had not yet fallen into Hell; otherwise, the Power of Anti-Demon within the sword light would have instantly purified and destroyed it.
Collapsing to the ground, Hua Manzhu gasped for breath. The spiritual pain from the Cyan Flame’s burns grew more intense, and even her vision began to blur.
She dug her uninjured hand into the dirt. With her at the center, the surrounding rainforest instantly began to decay and wither at a rapid pace. She was siphoning the Life Force from the plants to replenish herself and heal her injuries.
Zhou Chen didn’t use a Reversal Card to alter the properties of this Realm. Instead, he summoned the Soul-Shocking Copper Whistle and blew it hard.
The shrill, piercing whistle stabbed into Hua Manzhu’s brain like a knife, making her vision go black and her ears ring incessantly. She lost the ability to think, and her siphoning of Life Force stalled.
HUMMM!
The Dream Light and Shadow manifested in Zhou Chen’s hand, its spearhead trembling slightly before he hurled it with all his might. The Crystal Spear glowed with a magnificent, dream-like radiance as it tore through the air, pierced Hua Manzhu’s chest, and pinned her dead to the ground.
In that moment, Hua Manzhu finally felt what it meant to die. A frigid sensation slowly began to swallow her Soul. It was as if she had fallen into a frozen sea, the water pulling her down, down, into an endless darkness and silence.
