However, regeneration is a process; it was nowhere near the level of Wells Bill instantly regrowing a severed limb.

’He can’t regenerate infinitely. Where would the energy come from? No! That’s not right!’

The best way to test his theory was to strike again!

Leech stepped forward with his left foot, gripped his sword with both hands, stretched out his arms, and spun, twisting at the waist.

The light of the frost-wreathed greatsword flashed. The blade bit into Wells’s body, only to get stuck.

Before he could pull the sword free, he saw flesh and blood surge from the wound on Wells’s waist, enveloping even the Dragon-Slaying Sword itself.

Leech once again extravagantly expended the medicinal power reserved in his body, finally managing to yank the Dragon-Slaying Sword free.

He quickly backed away a few more steps.

Of the three potions’ power within him, only two remained.

In contrast, the bloody hole in Wells Bill’s waist was rapidly healing itself.

It truly seemed like there was no limit to his regeneration.

FLAP FLAP FLAP

A corpse bird shot in through the doorway.

The Water Nymph was controlling it.

The corpse bird folded its wings and landed on the levitating Wells Bill’s forehead, then lowered its head.

It was a blast of Spiritual Power from a level beyond the Extraordinary.

THUD.

Wells collapsed to the ground.

Leech seized the opportunity, dashed forward two steps, and with a horizontal slash, successfully lopped off his head.

BANG!

The corpse bird suddenly exploded.

At the last moment, the Water Nymph sent Leech a message.

"Legendary."

HISS!

The hair on Leech’s arms stood on end. Without another moment of hesitation, he threw all the Alchemy Bombs he had prepared onto Wells Bill’s body, not daring to overthink it.

As he slung the sword onto his back and sprinted away, he detonated the Alchemy Bombs.

He knew he hadn’t reached a safe distance, but if he didn’t detonate them while Wells’s mind was reeling, the man would very likely find some way to stop him.

’Trading my injury for the enemy’s death is a worthy exchange!’

After all, the word "Legendary" alone was enough to make Leech use everything he had.

Even if the man wasn’t truly Legendary, even if he just had the slightest connection to one.

KABOOM!!

The explosion erupted behind him. Leech instantly adjusted his posture, using the Dragon-Slaying Sword as a shield.

Flames surged forth like a flood from an open sluice gate, instantly incinerating everything in the room. One wave rushed toward Leech, hurling him through the air.

Another part shot upward, blasting through several floors of ceilings.

From a great distance, a massive explosion could be seen rocking Shanzhang Castle, and half of the fortress began to collapse.

RUMBLE...

After rolling a dozen times across the ground, Leech finally skidded to a stop. The [Pot of Invisibility] fell from his head and rolled off into the distance.

He sat up. The surface of his stone skin was charred black.

Pieces of the stone skin flaked off, revealing raw, red skin underneath.

The entire Dragon-Slaying Sword had become scorching hot. Fortunately, he’d had it on his back, so the sword had absorbed the vast majority of the damage from the blast.

Leech struggled up from the rubble, dizzy and his ears ringing.

He turned to look back. There was no sign of Wells Bill. ’He must be deader than dead.’

He took a few steps forward, quickly snatched up the Pot of Invisibility, and pulled it over his head.

He headed outside.

"What’s going on?"

"Quick, go see if anyone is hurt!"

The castle Soldiers rushed over, completely oblivious to Leech.

Leech saw Annel Bill being protected in the middle of the crowd and walked toward her.

The Soldiers along his path subconsciously parted to let him through.

She was looking at Leech as well. She didn’t believe he would attack her after such a bitter fight, not when he was so heavily injured. It would only get him surrounded.

Besides, they should have been on the same side. She was going to be the new Baroness of Shanzhang Castle. Perhaps they could even bury the hatchet and become friends.

But Leech’s response was a single, decisive slash.

Several nearby Soldiers were caught in the strike, their heads lopped off by Leech’s blade.

A row of heads thudded to the ground.

Quickly slinging his sword back on, Leech grabbed Annel’s head by the hair with one hand and her headless body with the other. He plowed a path through the crowd and charged into the castle courtyard.

"Someone killed Lady Annel!" Only then did the Soldiers notice Leech.

"Quick, stop him!"

SCREECH—!

The cry echoed from the sky.

Rocket had arrived just in time.

"Archers, crossbows! Don’t let that monster get in!" another shout came from the distance.

But it was nighttime. Hitting a nimble Horse-headed Eagle in the sky was about as likely as swatting a fly with your eyes closed.

Only because the volleys were so dense did a few arrows manage to strike Rocket.

The arrows struck its iron-like feathers, producing nothing but a series of metallic TINGS.

However, the barrage of arrows disrupted Rocket’s flight, causing it to wobble in the sky. It was forced to abort two diving attempts and rapidly pull up.

Finally, on its next dive, Rocket successfully closed the distance to Leech.

Leech seized the opportunity, leaping onto Rocket’s back.

"Go!"

SCREECH—!

Rocket spread its wings and, to the shriek of whistling arrows, flew away from the ruins of Shanzhang Castle.

Leech held the headless corpse in his left hand and the head in his right. "Rocket, straight back to Iron Valley!"

"COO!"
