Lord of Rot
Chapter 488 430: This is the Undead Scourge (3)
His fingers clenched, and the heart was crushed into a bloody pulp.
But the scene he expected—Jonney collapsing to the ground—didn't happen.
Jonney, a gaping hole torn through his chest, simply kept charging at him.
Kaqi froze. "An undead creature? A Witch Demon!"
He suddenly recalled a legend he'd heard in his youth about the Undying Calamity Corps.
Undead creatures, fearless of death, could still move even after being decapitated or having their hearts torn out.
In that war, every race in the world had suffered grievous casualties.
He glanced around. Some of his Demon Beastmen had managed to kill the strangely armored Soldiers. When their faces were exposed, he saw they were Half-Beastmen.
Some were Mad Beastmen, others Demon Beastmen—they were all his former subordinates!
They had only just died, yet they'd already been turned into the Undead Race!
What was even stranger was that the normally berserk Mad Beastmen were now expressionless. They fought with advanced techniques and even used weapons.
Kaqi watched in horror as one of his Demon Beastmen ran a sword through a Mad Beastman's head.
The expressionless undead wasn't affected in the slightest. It simply stabbed its own sword through the Demon Beastman's heart. Completely ignoring the blade jutting from its skull, it charged toward another Demon Beastman as blood and brain matter oozed from the wound.
More and more of the Demon Beastmen began to notice how unnatural the battle was, and a sense of unease and chaos spread through their ranks.
Kaqi was completely bewildered. 'Was I set up by George?'
'There was no change of power on the Lu Leiyi Continent at all. The other side must have surrendered to the Undying Calamity and lured me here to die!'
A gale-force wind assaulted him from the right. It was an arrow wreathed in a tempest. Nothing in its path, be it a Corpse Ghost or a living Demon Beastman, could withstand its power; they were all pierced straight through.
Kaqi raised his hand and effortlessly caught the arrow. As his fingers closed around it, the storm died out.
With a backhanded flick, he sent the arrow flying back even faster, shattering the right shoulder of the Corpse Ghost that had fired it.
Having lost an arm, the Corpse Ghost could no longer fire its bow. The surrounding Demon Beastmen pounced on it and tore it to shreds.
"Then I'll kill them all!" Kaqi stared at Jonney, his eyes filled with anger, hatred, and—more than anything—fear.
FLAP FLAP FLAP—
A vulture suddenly swooped down, landing on the shoulder of the hole-chested Jonney.
Kaqi inadvertently met the vulture's eyes. A tyrannical wave of Spiritual Power washed over him, and he faintly heard an enchanting song.
By the time he managed to clear his head, Jonney had already closed the distance in a single long stride. His fist had already heavily "kissed" Kaqi's nose.
'His Spiritual Power isn't Palace Level, but his body certainly is!'
Kaqi's body snapped back as he was sent flying.
When he looked up again, that damned vulture had returned. It landed on his head, bent down, and stared right into his eyes.
Having learned from the last time, Kaqi broke free much faster and threw up a hand to block Jonney's fist.
But just then, the battlefield fell silent.
Kaqi looked around. The mangled undead stood there silently, even those missing hearts or heads. In contrast, his treasured Demon Beastman subordinates were all down, never to get up again.
The greatest fighting skills in the world were useless against an enemy that simply could not die.
"This is the Calamity!"
'As a noble, my heart has never pounded so madly with fear.' Kaqi realized his opponents had two Palace Level experts. 'No... two and a half. Jonney only counts as half.'
'One of them hasn't even attacked, but as a Palace Level expert myself, I can still sense their presence.'
"Surrender and you won't be killed," Jonney said, his voice devoid of emotion.
If the fight continued, the losses would be too great. It was better to capture a surrendered Kaqi and deal with him slowly—that was Leech's order.
"Surrender?" Kaqi roared, charging at Jonney. He had his pride.
"Half-Beastmen will never be slaves!"
