Chapter 1426: Starting Over Again [4]

When he heard from others that her appetite had increased, he finally felt a bit relieved and said nothing, silently caring for Nicole behind the scenes.

Days passed quietly.

Half a month went by in the blink of an eye.

Today, when the Cooper parents came to see their son, they watched Nicole carefully taking care of their son outside his hospital room. Alex Cooper couldn’t help but quietly remark, "No wonder Steven was willing to protect Nicole with his life. Nicole truly is a good girl. For over a month since the accident, she has been the one taking care of Steven, not even going home once."

Brianna Wilson looked at Nicole with disapproval and replied, "That doesn’t change the fact that she caused Steven’s misfortune."

"It’s not fair to entirely blame Nicole for this incident, especially since it’s our son’s choice. I just want Steven to recover so he can marry Nicole; then I would truly be at ease."

Brianna Wilson moved her lips but said nothing.

"I’ll go find the doctor to see if there’s any other way for our son, you go in and check on him."

Alex Cooper left, and Brianna Wilson walked in.

Though Brianna Wilson’s attitude towards Nicole was cold, she no longer spoke harsh words to her. She gently caressed her son’s brows and pale cheeks with a pained expression, unable to stop tears from welling up in her eyes.

Brianna Wilson stayed in the hospital room for half an hour, unable to accept her excellent son being in this state, she got up to find her husband and inquire about their son’s condition, hoping for a miracle.

Just after Brianna Wilson left, a nurse came to change Steven’s medication but accidentally knocked over the unzipped handbag Brianna Wilson had placed on the bedside cabinet, spilling its contents all over the floor.

"I’m sorry, I’m sorry." the nurse instantly apologized.

Nicole crouched down to pick up Brianna Wilson’s belongings, "It’s okay, go ahead and change the medication, I’ll pick up the things."

"Thank you, Miss Seys."

The nurse turned to continue changing Steven’s medication while Nicole crouched down to gather the items.

Her gaze accidentally fell on some scattered materials, and her pupils suddenly contracted!

Nicole, in disbelief, picked up the papers on the floor to examine them and found that the printed photos and documents were all about Jose Floyd!

Among them were some printed photos from the day she was downstairs in the hospital division with Jose Floyd locking eyes with her, and Jose Floyd gripping her wrist tightly...

It turned out that day, Aunt Cooper saw her and Jose Floyd?!

Nicole’s fingers clutched the documents Brianna Wilson had on Jose Floyd, her knuckles slightly white, her face showing faint signs of unease.

Brianna Wilson investigated Jose Floyd, truly blaming Jose Floyd for Brother Cooper’s death, merely because Jose Floyd and she had a past, thinking Brother Cooper’s injuries were intentionally caused by Jose Floyd.

But it wasn’t true at all, although Jose Floyd was cold, he was always bold and responsible. He said he hadn’t sent Camden to kill her, thus it wasn’t him. However, due to emotional entanglements, no one believed him.

"Miss Seys, the medication has been changed."

The nurse’s voice brought Nicole back to reality. She gathered up the items on the floor and put them back in Brianna Wilson’s handbag, "Alright, thank you."

Her face returned to calmness, but her heart was in turmoil.

When Brianna Wilson returned to the hospital room, Nicole observed her with red eyes at Steven’s bedside, her gaze deep, but within that depth, she felt a certain panic and helplessness.

From then on, besides taking care of Steven, Nicole’s attention and gaze often fell on Brianna Wilson.

Sometimes when Brianna Wilson came to the hospital, she would turn her back on Nicole to take phone calls outside in the corridor; Nicole would quietly follow and personally hear Brianna Wilson hiring someone to track Jose Floyd and further investigate him......
