The drizzle suddenly drifted in from outside the window, and Nicole’s first reaction was to fix her gaze on the person downstairs.

The figure was still there, and the rain suddenly became as big as beans. Her fingers tightened around the breakfast in her hand, weighing heavily in her palm like a thousand pounds...

When the sound of rain reached her ears, it fell on Nicole’s heart like ice. Her gaze shifted, she placed the breakfast in the ward, and quickly walked out wearing high heels.

As she passed the nurse’s station, Nicole stopped, "Does anyone here have an extra umbrella that I could borrow?"

One of the nurses wearing glasses stood up, "I happen to have one, Miss Seys, please take it."

"Thank you."

Nicole took the umbrella and quickly took the elevator downstairs.

On the ground floor of the inpatient department, the sound of rain was ever so clear, and Jose Floyd stood for a long time. He wanted to go inside to avoid the rain but remembered her words about not getting close. His gaze deepened a bit, and he turned, intending to leave.

Nicole had just come down from the inpatient department and saw that figure turning in the rain. She opened her umbrella and hurriedly shouted towards that figure, "Wait a minute."

Jose Floyd’s steps halted abruptly at the sound transmitted to his ears, as if frozen, he lost his reaction and stood there in a daze.

Wearing high heels, Nicole stopped in the heavy rain, looking at the rain-swept steps, she hesitated. Her gaze was somewhat anxious, "Jose Floyd, wait a minute."

What she’s most afraid of now is falling, living cautiously every day, so she hesitated at the sight of the heavy rain. She hadn’t returned home, and the clothes she was wearing were always the ones Ariel brought her to change into, but the shoes remained the same.

She was wearing high heels, which made it easy to fall in the rain.

Jose Floyd turned to look at Nicole’s slightly anxious eyes, his body stiffened for a moment before he slowly walked towards her.

The rain was so heavy that even with an umbrella, she was bound to be soaked.

As Jose Floyd approached, an umbrella was extended towards him, shielding him from the rain.

"Jose Floyd, take this umbrella," Nicole nudged the umbrella’s handle, indicating to Jose Floyd.

Jose Floyd didn’t take it, instead, his eyes grew even deeper, and the cold expression on his face softened a bit.

His gaze made Nicole a little panicky, "Jose Floyd, just take it, I’m going back to the ward."

This time, Jose Floyd responded by taking a velvet box out of his pocket, handing it to her, he pressed his thin lips and said in a deep voice, "Nicole, let’s start over, truly begin again. Forget everything from the past, no grudges, starting from when you were called Nicole, and I was Jose Floyd, seeing this moment as our first meeting."

The sound of rain faded, and his earnest words echoed in her ears, causing Nicole’s hand holding the umbrella’s handle to tremble, "Jose Floyd... what are you doing?"

Jose Floyd looked at Nicole, opened the velvet box with one hand, and offered what was inside more forward to her, speaking in a deep voice, "Nicole, stay by my side, be with me for a lifetime."

A diamond ring came into view, Nicole’s eyes flickered, looking in disbelief at Jose Floyd’s cool demeanor, her throat a bit hoarse, "Do you know what it means to give a girl a ring? Jose Floyd, a diamond ring is not like flowers; not everyone can give it, do you know that?"

"I know," Jose Floyd interrupted Nicole, his face and eyes incredibly serious, "this is the only one I’ll ever buy in my life."

The unspoken meaning being that besides her, no one else would ever have the chance to own the diamond ring he purchased.
