Chapter 1440: Don’t Shift the Blame onto Me

Just as she was feeling a bit light-hearted reading the text message, another notification came through.

"Nicole Seys, if you’re going to owe anyone this lifetime, it should be me. Any debt to others, I’ll make sure to settle it for you. As for Steven Cooper’s situation, I’ve got it handled."

Nicole read the two messages over and over, until she could recite them by heart, a smile spreading more visibly on her lips as she couldn’t help but chuckle: "This man..."

Still so domineering. Yet her heart couldn’t help but flutter, mixed with sweetness and a small happiness, causing her to smile.

The early winter sunlight was so warm, standing in the hospital room, Nicole felt warm all over, her smile was as elegant and striking as a lotus after the rain.

Since then, Jose Floyd’s ’odd behavior’ became even more apparent. Every time a nutrition delivery arrived, a text from Jose would timely follow, reminding her to eat more.

Nicole had never thought that someone as aloof as Jose would become so talkative one day, making her laugh uncontrollably.

Days slipped away quietly and silently, and in the blink of an eye, a month had passed.

Nicole chose a relatively loose sweater to put on, and picked out a loose coat as well.

When she went downstairs, Ariel Morris was helping Aunt Forest arrange breakfast. Seeing her come down, Ariel’s gaze shifted over, "Hey, Nicole, don’t you feel like your outfit today is a bit mismatched? Why is the sweater inside loose, and you’re wearing a loose coat outside too? It doesn’t show off your perfect figure!"

Nicole sat opposite Ariel, paused for a bit, then quickly returned to normal: "I just threw on a couple of pieces without really looking, but I find it quite comfortable, so let’s just leave it like this. Anyway, I’m just taking care of Brother Cooper in the hospital, not meeting anyone, comfort is what matters."

"That’s true."

"I’m taking Iris to the hospital for a check-up later, she’s caught a cold again."

Nicole paused her breakfast, "I’ll go with you then. I’m quite familiar with the hospital now, I’ll accompany you for Iris’s tests."

"Okay, I’ll let the driver take Ryan to school later."

Nicole and Ariel drove together, taking the sick Iris Seys to Central Hospital for tests.

With blood tests and all required examinations completed, Nicole went to the lab to collect Iris’s medical report and happened to meet Olivia Summer who was at the hospital for a check-up.

Olivia was accompanied by an attendant from Clearflower Estate for the check-up. Upon encountering her, Nicole’s expression remained indifferent, ignoring this meeting.

The two passed by each other without exchanging greetings.

"Wait a minute!" Olivia’s voice called out from behind.

Nicole stopped in her tracks, waiting for what she would say next.

Olivia walked back over to Nicole, her expression cold, lacking the warmth it had during their acquaintance, "Stay away from the Floyd Family couple! And don’t attempt to let Jose get close to them! Stuart and Celine are the shame of the Seal Family, sinners that we expelled!"

Nicole glanced at Olivia, her expression calm: "I’m not as idle as you say."

She’s been taking care of Brother Cooper in the hospital every day, not even seeing the three from the Floyd Family all these days, what plot has she made?

"Jose has been cold towards me lately. Nicole, are you trying to sow discord between my son and me?!" Olivia looked at Nicole coldly, her eyes filled with deep displeasure.

"Ms. Summer, if Jose wants to distance himself from you, don’t try to blame me for it, it has nothing to do with me. And as for mother and son..." Nicole paused, observing Olivia’s superior and arrogant demeanor, "You better go back and have a good chat with your husband, so he can honestly tell you how many things he’s been hiding from you."
