Derek Brooke saw Lydia Brooke make a ’wait a second’ gesture and continue chatting with the person on the phone.

"Han, congratulations on your advancement in piano! It’s a pity I’m not over there now, otherwise I’d definitely celebrate with you. I’m currently in City C—yeah, been back for a week."

"You still owe me that painting, remember? I’m going to treasure it, and when you become famous, I’ll sell it at a marked-up price and make a fortune!"

"I’ll probably continue my studies here, at Riveredge Middle School. Not sure if I can enroll as a transfer student."

"I’ll hang up for now, Han, we’ll chat next time via video."

After hanging up, Derek Brooke smiled at Lydia Brooke’s questioning gaze, "Han, my partner abroad."

Lydia Brooke laughed, "I thought you were talking to a girl."

"No, Han’s very talented at piano and painting. If he were a girl, I’d marry him in the future, alright?" Derek Brooke chuckled.

"Even if he’s a guy, you could still marry him; I’m very open-minded." Lydia Brooke laughed.

Derek Brooke looked at Lydia Brooke without any hint of a smile, his tone cool, "Miss Brooke, don’t you think you should explain why you told others today that I’m eight years old? How did my height and actual age turn into that? You made me three years younger, why?"

Lydia Brooke’s expression changed briefly, then she gently smiled, maintaining her aloofness, "Nothing really, just a slip of the tongue."

Derek Brooke crossed his arms, watching the storytelling Lydia Brooke with amusement.

Lydia Brooke felt uncomfortable under Derek Brooke’s gaze, changed her stance, and clasped her hands tightly in front of her abdomen, smiling lightly as she spoke: "Why are you staring at me?"

"Miss Brooke, you’re cuter when you’re honest," Derek Brooke said seriously, looking at Lydia Brooke.

"..." Lydia Brooke pursed her lips, "Derek Brooke, you’re cuter when you’re oblivious."

Being this clever really resembles someone, giving her quite a headache!

Derek Brooke looked at Lydia Brooke, "Miss Brooke, you know my surname is Brooke now? In front of Uncle Saxton, why did you say my name was Derek Haston? You’re always misleading Uncle Saxton, hoping he misunderstands something?"

Lydia Brooke: "..."

Who does he resemble to be so clever?!

It’s exhausting dealing with such a smart child when you’re an adult!

Did the story she concoct make things clear for Derek Brooke?

During Lydia Brooke’s silent dilemma, Derek Brooke glanced at her and casually spoke: "I made plans with Uncle Saxton to hang out tomorrow, Miss Brooke, would you care to join us?"

"You’re hanging out with Jorge Saxton?" Lydia Brooke pursed her lips, shaking her head decisively, "No, you shouldn’t spend time with him..."

Derek Brooke looked at Lydia Brooke with suspicion.

Lydia Brooke’s fingers stiffly dangled at her sides, slightly tightening as she tried to maintain an outward appearance of composed calm: "What I mean is..... You and him aren’t familiar, how can you just hang out, besides, I’m just ordinary friends with him, I’m afraid if we go out, reporters might snap pictures and stir unnecessary rumors, so, Derek, cancel it..."

She was most afraid of Derek Brooke being alone with Jorge Saxton, if Derek revealed his real age, it would certainly spark Jorge Saxton’s suspicion!

"Miss Brooke, you’re quite uneasy," Derek Brooke said, arms crossed, casually.

His demeanor resembled someone by sixty percent, making Lydia Brooke’s heart more tense, unable to steady itself.

"Derek, you’re overthinking... I just feel it’s better that you don’t interact with Jorge Saxton." Lydia Brooke said tactfully.

Derek Brooke looked at her, "Why? Give me a reason."
