Love You for the Rest of My Life

Chapter 2545 - 2546: So This Is What He Has Thought All Along

He was feeling guilty because he was afraid she’d lose her temper.

But luckily, Gu Mian didn’t get mad; she just kept staring at him like that.

She stared for quite a while before finally curling her lips into a smile, a bit of a cold one, and said, "Just like this, we’re together? What’s the point of being together like this, you don’t like me, and I don’t like..."

Before Gu Mian could finish, Nangong Yue immediately cut in, "I like you! How could I not like you!"

Being rushed by Gu Mian like that, he blurted it out in one go, spilling the words he’d held back in his heart for over ten years.

Gu Mian was stunned, then quickly said, "I don’t believe you..."

"It’s true!" Since the words were already out, Nangong Yue didn’t plan to dodge anymore, because if he still didn’t say it now, Gu Mian really would make up her mind to divorce him!

Gu Mian still looked a bit puzzled, her lips pouting slightly as she couldn’t help but ask, "Nangong Yue, don’t just say this because you want to patch up some random marriage and don’t want a divorce."

"I’m not!" Nangong Yue immediately defended himself. "Mianmian, I really like you, and I’ve liked you for a long time. You don’t believe me?"

"I really don’t." Gu Mian frowned. "You’ve liked me for a long time, and you’re only saying it now?"

"Because I knew you liked Di Mingzhe." Nangong Yue looked seriously into her eyes and brows. "Mianmian, for as long as you’ve liked Di Mingzhe, I’ve liked you."

Gu Mian froze.

What?

Nangong Yue actually knew she liked Di Mingzhe?

She really hadn’t told more than a handful of people about that, so she was sure there was no way Nangong Yue could’ve known.

But now he did.

So what did that mean?

Didn’t it mean that Nangong Yue really had been paying attention to her for a long time?

At least it seemed that way, didn’t it?

"How did you know I liked Di Mingzhe?" Gu Mian couldn’t help asking curiously.

"Of course I knew!" Nangong Yue said. "Do you still remember confession day at school? I wanted to confess to you, but you were planning to confess to Di Mingzhe. I overheard it by accident, so..."

"So you gave up?" Gu Mian followed up.

"Yeah." Nangong Yue nodded, as if sinking into his memories. His handsome brows knit slightly, then his gaze dropped quietly, like he was a bit self-conscious, and he said slowly, "I couldn’t bring myself to pursue you."

"Why?" Gu Mian didn’t quite understand. Hearing this from Nangong Yue’s mouth was honestly a little strange.

Why would he think that?

"Because the person you liked was Di Mingzhe, and I didn’t think I was as outstanding as he is." Nangong Yue hesitated for a while before finally getting the words out.

Gu Mian’s eyes widened; she really couldn’t quite figure it out.

Why would he think that?

Nangong Yue—hadn’t he always been outstanding too?

Back then, his grades at school were top of the class. Not only were his grades outstanding, he often represented the school in all kinds of competitions. And he called that not outstanding?

"You’re okay." Gu Mian pursed her lips slightly. "You’re pretty good too."

If she had to say it, she felt Nangong Yue and Di Mingzhe were probably at about the same level, just different in temper and personality.

The two of them were both the type who didn’t talk much.

But Di Mingzhe leaned more toward cold and aloof, while Nangong Yue leaned more toward gentle and refined.

They were actually about the same, so why would Nangong Yue think he wasn’t as good as Di Mingzhe?

Seeing him like this, Gu Mian actually felt a faint ache in her heart. So this was what he’d been thinking all along?
