Gu Mian was taken aback and then felt a bit embarrassed, but eventually nodded and jokingly said, "Since Mr. Nangong is so sincere, I guess I’ll reluctantly accept the free ride."

After dropping Gu Mian off at the Golden Palace, Nangong Yue went to work.

Today at work, Gu Mian was somewhat distracted and suddenly realized that even when facing Di Mingzhe, she didn’t seem to have any feelings anymore.

"I don’t have any instructions, but you seem a bit absent-minded, not even hearing me speak. Is something wrong?" Di Mingzhe looked at her and asked again.

"Oh, no, no," Gu Mian quickly shook her head, "I’m fine, sorry, I was just lost in thought."

"Really nothing’s wrong?" Di Mingzhe raised an eyebrow.

"Yes," Gu Mian nodded.

"That’s good then," Di Mingzhe said lightly, smiling slightly as he turned back to his desk.

"Your Excellency!" Gu Mian impulsively called out to him.

When he stopped, Gu Mian felt a bit regretful; why did she call him?

"Is there something?" Di Mingzhe asked, slightly puzzled, with a frown.

Gu Mian stared at him for a while before finally saying, "No, nothing."

"Oh," Di Mingzhe responded lightly, initially wanting to inquire further but realizing he probably wouldn’t get any answers.

Sometimes, when someone wants to speak, they’ll naturally say everything, but when they don’t want to, no amount of questioning will yield anything.

And so, it went on until the end of the workday, which ended promptly since there wasn’t much urgent business at the Golden Palace today.

Di Mingzhe left work together with Gu Mian, casually chatting as they walked down the corridor to the exit of the Golden Palace.

Suddenly, Gu Mian saw Nangong Yue standing at the door, holding a large bouquet of roses.

Gu Mian felt a bit embarrassed.

The surprised one was Di Mingzhe, who raised an eyebrow and jokingly said, "Well, this is something new. What’s Nangong Yue doing here? With flowers, did he fancy someone at the Golden Palace?"

Gu Mian could only nod and reply, "Yes, he’s here for me."

Di Mingzhe raised an eyebrow in surprise, "Oh, you two are dating?"

Gu Mian slightly furrowed her brow and then blurted out, "I’m married to him!"

Usually calm and composed, even Di Mingzhe was a bit startled by the news, but he quickly recovered, couldn’t help but laugh, and extended his hand, "Congratulations, congratulations."

"Thank you," Gu Mian shook his hand.

Strangely, the moment she shook his hand, she felt no excitement, no joy, nor any sentiments, everything was so calm, as if she was just receiving a friend’s sincere blessing.

Gu Mian smiled.

"Nangong Yue is really great." Di Mingzhe also smiled and nodded, "You two are quite something, getting married quietly without any of us hearing anything. What, is this a flash marriage?"

"Pretty much," Gu Mian nodded.
