Love You for the Rest of My Life
Chapter 2644: Shouldn't You Call Me Hubby?
He hadn’t understood what it meant back then, and even secretly felt happy that Nangong Xiao wasn’t bullying him anymore. It wasn’t until he grew a bit older that he finally figured it out.
Of course he was very dissatisfied about it, but back then it was still okay—there were lots of gatherings, they were basically seeing each other all the time, at least once a week.
Even if Nangong Xiao was deliberately avoiding him a little, they still ran into each other, and when they needed to talk, they’d still talk.
But this past month there hadn’t been any gatherings at all. Di Yimo wasn’t an idiot; how could he not understand what that meant?
Looked like the adults of both families had made up their minds to cut down their contact, no matter whether the two of them liked each other or not.
He hadn’t reached out to Nangong Xiao this whole month either. So many times he’d unlocked his phone, opened the chat app, wanting to say something to her, but seeing how stubborn she was, refusing to be the first to talk to him, he could only give up in the end.
But a whole month with zero contact and no seeing each other really was suffocating for him. He finally understood what “having your heart tied in knots” and “haunting your thoughts day and night” felt like.
It’s when no matter what you’re doing or saying, there’s always that one person’s shadow in your head, in your heart—that’s what it means to have your heart all tangled up with someone.
Di Yimo had been slumping around at home this week too, lying on his bed, brooding over this whole thing.
After thinking about it for ages and still not figuring it out, he only ended up missing Nangong Xiao even more, especially the way she’d make a fuss with him.
Thinking of this, Di Yimo picked up his phone, opened the chat app, found Nangong Xiao’s avatar. Her chat handle was “Xiaoxiao, One and Only Flower.”
That unrestrained, cocky name really did have a naturally perfect resemblance to her.
Di Yimo’s chat handle, on the other hand, was simple and domineering: just “I Am Di Yimo.”
Once he opened the chat, Di Yimo directly typed, “Auntie, I want to consult you on something.”
Right then, Nangong Xiao was also spacing out at her desk. Only when her phone buzzed did she pick it up, and she was surprised to see it was a message from Di Yimo.
Nangong Xiao was a bit taken aback, because the thing Di Yimo hated most was texting. This chat app, he’d practically never used it.
Di Yimo’s rule had always been: if you can call, never text. So yeah, she was pretty surprised.
So Nangong Xiao hurriedly tapped the message open, and the moment she saw his question, she frowned.
After thinking a bit, she replied, “Did the sun rise in the west today? You’re actually willing to text someone?!”
She didn’t answer him head-on because she didn’t want to answer any of his questions, and she definitely didn’t want to get tricked by him, so she just casually picked up the topic and teased him a couple of lines.
Seeing her teasing, Di Yimo pressed his lips together slightly and, for the first time, felt that sending the occasional text wasn’t so bad.
Di Yimo moved his fingers and quickly replied: “Whether I text or not depends on who it is.”
Nangong Xiao: “…”
“Oh.” Not knowing what to say, Nangong Xiao could only reply with a single “oh.”
Di Yimo frowned and asked, “Oh what oh, what kind of attitude is that?”
Nangong Xiao: “…”
Xiaoxiao, One and Only Flower: “Is there a problem with my attitude?”
I Am Di Yimo: “Yes.”
Xiaoxiao, One and Only Flower: “? What problem?”
I Am Di Yimo: “Shouldn’t you be calling me ‘hubby’?”
Nangong Xiao: “…”
That line really left Nangong Xiao at a loss for words. Since when had Di Yimo become this shameless?
What happened to that noble, cold, aloof persona?
