Mafia Lord's Mute Sweetheart

Chapter 201: Chapter 201 What did that girl do now?
Jenna was still busy trying to call her husband.
She glanced at her phone again with growing irritation. The screen showed another unanswered call, adding to the long list of attempts she had made throughout the evening. Her thumb hovered over the redial button but she hesitated. What was the point? He wasn’t going to answer.
He should have at least shown his face at his own father’s birthday. Even if he was busy, even if he had some important business, surely he could spare a little time for his family. But apparently, even today, Joseph had chosen that other woman over them.
Jenna’s lips tightened. He is probably still with that bitch.
She shoved her phone into her purse, forcing herself to maintain a pleasant expression whenever another guest approached her. She smiled, exchanged pleasantries and pretended everything was perfectly fine. But inside, her blood was boiling.
Then she suddenly realized something.
Where was Cedric?
And where was Daisy?
She looked around the crowded room, scanning the guests. Her eyes moved from one face to another, searching for her son and his wife. Neither of them was anywhere nearby.
Grandpa James was missing too.
Jenna’s brows furrowed. "What happened now?" she muttered under her breath.
Her irritation immediately turned toward Daisy. What did that girl do now?
Before she could send one of the staff members to find them, she heard a few guests whispering nearby.
"Where did Grandpa James go?"
"I haven’t seen Cedric either."
"Daisy was with him earlier, wasn’t she?"
Jenna’s expression became more suspicious. Her eyes narrowed and her jaw tightened. She was about to approach them when movement near the hallway caught her attention.
Grandpa James appeared first.
And behind him came Cedric, Daisy, Jessica, Alessio and Rafael.
Jenna’s shoulders immediately relaxed. "Oh, there they are."
She let out a small sigh of relief before quickly fixing her expression. Whatever had happened, they were all back. That was what mattered.
Grandpa James walked into the room with a warm smile, greeting the guests as though nothing unusual had happened. His voice was cheerful, his demeanor relaxed. "I’m sorry to keep everyone waiting," he said pleasantly. "You all should continue enjoying yourselves."
Several guests smiled and reassured him that it was perfectly fine.
Jenna watched him carefully. Something about his expression seemed different but she couldn’t quite figure out what it was. His smile was the same, his eyes were telling something different ..Still, James behaved so normally that she eventually dismissed the feeling.
A little farther away, Rafael and Alessio stood together. The brothers appeared to be having a casual conversation, but neither of them was actually paying full attention to what they were saying. Their eyes kept moving around the room, watching, observing.
Rafael leaned slightly closer to Alessio. "You alright?"
Alessio gave him a sideways glance. "Why wouldn’t I be?"
Rafael almost smiled. "Just asking."
Alessio said nothing.
His attention shifted toward Daisy. She was standing beside Grandpa James, smiling politely whenever someone spoke to her. But Rafael could tell the smile wasn’t completely genuine. It didn’t reach her eyes. Neither was Cedric’s.
Cedric had returned to the guests and was behaving as though nothing had happened. He shook hands, answered questions and smiled whenever someone spoke to him. Anyone watching from a distance would have assumed everything was perfectly normal.
But his smile looked forced. His eyes occasionally wandered toward Daisy. And every time he saw her looking at Alessio, something dark flickered across his expression before he quickly hid it again.
Daisy, meanwhile, kept her hands folded in front of herself. She smiled when necessary. Nodded when someone spoke to her. Pretended everything was fine. But her mind was still overwhelmed by everything that had happened.
Then there was Jessica. Unlike everyone else, she looked genuinely happy. A bright smile remained on her face as she stood near Cedric, occasionally glancing toward Daisy with satisfaction. As far as she was concerned, the night had finally gone exactly the way she wanted.
Cedric was no longer hiding his relationship with her. Daisy’s marriage was finally falling apart. And Grandpa James had witnessed everything.
Jessica’s smile widened. She looked toward Daisy, her eyes gleaming with triumph.
Soon, little mute.
She tilted her head slightly, her red hair falling over her shoulder.
Very soon, you won’t be Mrs. Cedric anymore.
The thought filled her with satisfaction. She had waited years for this moment, and now it was finally within reach.
Meanwhile, Alessio’s attention shifted toward one of the waiters moving through the room. His eyes followed the young man for a moment before he subtly raised two fingers,.
The waiter noticed immediately. His posture straightened and he approached Alessio with slightly nervous steps. His hands were clasped in front of him and his shoulders were tense.
"Sir?"
The young man stopped in front of Alessio. He was noticeably shorter and standing so close to the tall mafia lord made him look even smaller. He had to tilt his head upward to meet Alessio’s eyes and his throat bobbed nervously as he swallowed.
Alessio leaned down slightly. He whispered something directly into the waiter’s ear, his voice too low for anyone nearby to hear. His breath was warm against the waiter’s skin, and the young man shivered involuntarily.
The waiter’s expression became serious immediately. "Yes, sir."
Alessio straightened. His face remained completely unreadable as he briefly gestured toward another part of the room. His hand moved subtly, directing the waiter’s attention.
The waiter nodded quickly. "Understood."
He hurried away, his steps quick and hurried.
Rafael, who had been standing nearby, glanced at his brother with a knowing look. A small smirk played at the corner of his lips.
"You’re ordering people around again?"
Alessio didn’t even look at him. "I’m asking someone to do his job."
Rafael raised an eyebrow. "Of course."
Alessio ignored him. His attention had already shifted elsewhere.
Across the room, Daisy was standing beside Grandpa James while he spoke with an old friend. She listened with a soft smile, occasionally nodding whenever the older men exchanged stories. Grandpa James seemed particularly cheerful now, almost determined to enjoy the rest of his birthday despite everything that had happened.
Daisy watched him fondly. She was happy to see him smiling again, happy that the evening hadn’t been completely ruined for him.
But she hadn’t eaten properly all day. After spending hours overseeing the preparations, getting ready and then dealing with everything that had happened afterward, she hadn’t even realized how hungry she had become. Her stomach had been quiet, subdued by stress and exhaustion but now it was beginning to protest.
