Chapter 316 - 316: Ch 316: Unbelievable Stupidity

While Elise and Sakura had made first contact with the fake bandits near the forest cave area, Weiss was almost done with her investigation.

Even though the number of bandits who were staying in the abandoned fortress was decently high, as this fortress was made to handle several thousands of soldiers, their numbers were nothing much.

That was why it was extremely easy for Weiss to continue hiding her presence and do her Investigation. And these people were stupid enough to have only a single guard in front of the room where they kept their treasures, so this made Weiss's task even easier.

She did not kill the guard or make him to faint with the use of any force. Instead of brute force methods like those, she simply used a potion with a special smell that made people to fell asleep. And while the guard was in the dreamland, Weiss was able to do her Investigation without any kind of disturbance.

And the result of her investigation was quite fascinating. It looked like these fake bandits had absolutely no fear regarding any kind of retaliation. They were only doing the bare minimum to hide their identity.

Weiss had even found some letters with the seal of the noble families for whom these people were working and in those letters, the order to create trouble for the family ruling the super prosperous city of Ryukan was written with very clear script.

Something like this should immediately be burned after the people here were done reading it. This was something essential to destroy the clear evidence. But the fake bandits here were foolish enough to not do even something super simple like that.

Actually, Weiss was so baffled by this development that she had actually spent a lot of extra time in verifying that these letter were actually genuine and not some kind of fake to trap someone like her.

This was definitely a possibility even though that looked almost impossible with how stupid the fake bandits were. But Weiss could not disregard the possibility that even among these stupid bunch, one or two genuinely intelligent individuals might exist. And that was the reason why Weiss was being extra careful regarding all this.

But at the end, it turned out that Weiss was just being extra worried and paranoid. The truth was way simpler. The people here were just that stupid and dumb. Even though it was something really hard to believe for someone like Weiss.

Still, this was definitely not a bad thing. Taking advantage of this, she had collected all the evidence and had made sure that they were well preserved. Now with this in her hand, many great new options had opened up in Weiss's hand.

The best way to profit from these evidence was for Weiss to blackmail the noble families involved. If she could do it successfully, then she would definitely be able to earn a massive sum of money and other benefits. There was no doubt about this as there was no way any family could afford to get a truth like this out in the world.

But Weiss was actually not going to do that. She had no need for money or the extra benifits that these noble families could provide her. Instead, she had a completely different plan in her mind which would be more beneficial for her circumstances.

And that plan of hers was to sell these evidences to the ruler of the city of Ryukan. There was no doubt that he would definitely be super interested in these. And in exchange, she obviously did not want money and instead was looking for something else. And that something was special privileges when the magic ship would come.

Now Weiss was actually not sure if something like that was possible or not. There was a chance that the city lord was not allowed to handle anything regarding the magi and there was some dedicated organization responsible for this. But even then, there was no harm in Weiss at least trying.

So truly, she was extremely happy with all this developement. She had also checked out the loots very thoroughly and even though the quality and the amount of items was not too much, there was no reason for Weiss to not take them.

But even though she had not found anything worthwhile in the storage, she did manage to find some excellent things in the private room of some of the fake bandit leaders.

There were a lot of such things but what attracted Weiss's attention the most were definitely a few of the books. And very suprisingly, there was actually one book which was about magic and another book written in a foreign unknown language most probably from a different world.

There were also a few magic items but they were not a big deal because Weiss definitely had some of the best magic items that this world could get.

So after all the investigation was done and Weiss was also finished with looting everything that she was interested in, she was sitting on top of a crumbling wall of the fortress in a remote part.

As she was done here, she could just leave. Or, she could kill all the fake bandits and get rid of them completely. Both of the tasks would be easy for Weiss and would provide her with different benifits.

So she was thinking about what to do. And after thinking about it for some time, she actually came to a decision quite easily. And her decision was to kill at least 90 percent of the leaders and about 50 percent of the regular fake bandits.

As for why she was doing this, the reason behind this was very simple. By doing this, she would have a much easier time negotiating with the city lord of Ryukan and she would be able to push for more benifits as she was helping the city immensely this way.

As for why she was keeping a few people alive, they would be captured by the private army of the Ryukan city lord and would act as more live proof. That was the reason why Weiss was not completely wiping them out. But with the leaders gone, they would most probably not be able to act as bandits for some time. In this way, this was an absolutely perfect plan in Weiss's part.

So just like that, a massive massacre started in the abandoned fortress.
