Chapter 251 - 187: First Entry into the Demon Beast Battlefield
Chapter 251: Chapter 187: First Entry into the Demon Beast Battlefield
Inside the Demon Beast Battlefield.
A scorching sun hung high in the sky, its fiery heat waves rolling across the land.
This was Fang Xiu’s first time on the Demon Beast Battlefield.
Everything was different from what he had imagined.
Before him stretched a vast plain.
As Fang Xiu looked out, he could see traces of war scarring the plain. He could almost picture the battles between Demon Beasts and the experts of the Human Race.
The demonic claws of war had ravaged this place.
A biting wind swept across the desolate plain.
Standing at the entrance of the Teleportation Array, Fang Xiu gazed at the scene before him, a sense of sorrow welling up in his heart.
"So this is the Demon Beast Battlefield?"
Fang Xiu murmured with emotion.
In his ears, he could almost hear the furious roars and low growls of Demon Beasts.
He could almost see the mangled, bloody corpses of humans scattered across the magnificent battlefield.
They had given their lives to protect the Human Race.
This plain had witnessed the bravery of Human Awakeners and the evil of Demon Beasts. It had also witnessed the clash of Power and the glory of its warriors.
As Fang Xiu took in the sight, a Flame ignited in his heart, setting his blood ablaze.
"Yes, this is the Demon Beast Battlefield. There are Demon Beast Attacks every day."
Li Mu nodded slightly.
She had been to the Demon Beast Battlefield once before.
Back then, however, she had come with her father.
She had wanted to stay.
Her father wouldn’t allow it.
This place wasn’t suitable for her.
Li Mu had even had a falling out with her father over it.
But it turned out he was right. She truly wasn’t suited for this place.
The oppressive atmosphere alone was enough to make her feel suffocated.
Let alone actually fighting.
"Come on, I’ll take you to meet someone. She’ll get you familiar with everything here."
Li Mu said to Fang Xiu.
"Okay."
Fang Xiu had already regained his composure.
He nodded slightly.
He knew that passion alone couldn’t change anything.
What he needed to do was grow stronger and take the lives of more Demon Beasts on this very battlefield.
Seeing Fang Xiu recover so quickly, Li Mu nodded in approval.
The Demon Beast Battlefield was, in itself, a test.
If someone couldn’t recover from the initial shock and let the atmosphere affect them, then they weren’t fit to stay here.
Back in the day, Li Mu herself had been so affected that she’d started hallucinating and nearly went berserk.
Of course, she had only just gone through her Awakening at the time.
Her mental fortitude wasn’t very strong.
This was also the main reason most people were against students coming here.
If they went berserk, the experience could leave a permanent psychological scar.
However, Principal Xiang and the others had taken this into consideration.
That’s why the selected students were all chosen based on a comprehensive evaluation.
It wasn’t just based on their performance during the assessment, but also their conduct at school.
Their behavior before their Awakening and even their family background were all considered.
Everything was done to ensure this group of selected students could adapt.
That way, even if they did go berserk, it wouldn’t leave a lasting trauma.
They would be able to continue training on the Demon Beast Battlefield.
And become powerful warriors who protect the Human Race.
Soon, the two of them arrived at the human encampment.
This place was different from the training grounds.
The training grounds were filled with villas.
Here, there were only simple residences.
The buildings varied in height.
Some were even falling apart.
There were plenty of ruins as well.
’If I had to describe it,’ Fang Xiu thought, ’this must be what a post-apocalyptic city looks like.’
"Vice Hall Master!"
Just then, Fang Xiu saw someone waiting for them.
It was a woman whose first impression was one of competence. She had shoulder-length hair, wore a black tank top that revealed well-toned muscles, and her skin was a healthy, sun-kissed tan.
Upon seeing Li Mu, she immediately stepped forward.
"Mm."
Li Mu nodded slightly and said to Fang Xiu, "This is Jian Ying. She’s twenty-five years old, has an S Level Awakened Talent, and is already at Level 43."
’Twenty-five years old and Level 43?’
Fang Xiu was genuinely surprised by her Level.
Reaching Level 40+ by the age of twenty-five was no simple feat.
Then, Li Mu turned to Jian Ying. "This is Fang Xiu. I don’t need to introduce him, do I? You have his file."
"Yes."
Jian Ying nodded.
She sized up Fang Xiu, and her first impression was that he was handsome.
Extremely handsome.
Then, a flicker of surprise crossed her face.
According to the file she’d received, if she remembered correctly, Fang Xiu possessed an SSS Level Sacrificial Master Talent and was already Level 27.
’Eighteen years old and Level 27.’
’Even with the two-Level head start from his Awakening, his current Level was still about five Levels higher than where an S Level would typically be.’
This proved that his Cultivation speed was incredibly fast.
Jian Ying knew that the higher the Level, the slower the progress.
It was just like a video game.
Going from Level 2 to Level 3 was always slower than going from Level 1 to Level 2.
Unless it was one of those games where you could hit level 99,999 with a single strike.
And yet, Fang Xiu had managed to reach Level 27 at his age.
That was two Levels higher than she had been back then.
’He’s just too strong.’
Of course, if Jian Ying knew that Fang Xiu barely even cultivated, she would be even more shocked.
"I’ll leave Fang Xiu in your hands from now on," Li Mu said to Jian Ying.
"Don’t worry, Vice Hall Master. I’ll be sure to guide Fang Xiu well over the next three days," Jian Ying promised.
"Good. I’ve always been confident in your work."
Li Mu nodded slightly.
Then she turned to Fang Xiu. "Fang Xiu, I’ll be heading back now. If you don’t understand anything, just ask Jian Ying."
"Okay, sounds good."
Fang Xiu didn’t say much more.
After all, he needed to use these three days to familiarize himself with everything here.
That way, he would be better able to guide Chu Qingxue and the others.
With that said, Li Mu departed.
